wipe on to the affected area, let dry then peel off, it should take the fiberglass hairs/splinters with it.
looking forward to more on the XForce as I’m still debating using the GOOD never broken mini manifold from donor, or using the XForce I have sitting here with flex joint and test pipe, or XForce with back cat from the broken manifold.
I got a new pillar cover... when I took my cousin out for a test rip in " Mexico " , once the car hit 115mph JUST like my grey mini did last year lolol the same side pillar cover flew off..
we had the windows down and then suddenly the wind noise got extremely loud and I was like " wtf was that ??????" And once we got back over the boarder and I got out , immediately seen what the cause of the noise was.
LUCKILY r56 pillar covers DO fit and fit perfectly as you see.. my generation minis in the yard , not a one had either of their pillar covers so I tried this one and lowandbehold IT FIT..
hoping the exhaust is done being welded tomorrow and I will install it soon as I get it back home. i might wait though until i have an extra set of hands around because its a pita getting the header on and gaskets to line up correctly and bolts started.. having a crap back sure doesnt help in instances like that.
.. omfg I'm sooooooooo ichy from that old header wrap going everywhere while taking off the old header. I tried my best to keep blowing it out under the car but it just continually snowed bits of fiberglass all over me. Lol my arms n legs what ever they touch feels like a cactus..I sat in the cold shower for like an hour hoping to rinse anything off I could..lol not much of a help as I lay here squirming around...
Yup - I used to known the feeling
I've worked with fiberglass so much it seems that I've become completely immune to it over that last 35 years.
Anyway...
Cold showers will cause your pores to close and lock in the tiny bits of glass.
I suggest very warm water and a slightly damp bar of soap moving downward along your skin in one direction to aide in pulling out the bits of fiber. I works fairly well.
If you ever find yourself having to work around fiberglass again - I would suggest talc-ing up beforehand. That is - if you are not opposed to using talc on your skin.

Nice progress on the Aero, btw
lol figures I'd make it worse with cold water lolol that's me in a nutshell rite there..
I did the ducttape trick and blotted my body with gorilla tape and other than the hair pulling , it gave me alot of relief afterwards actually..
I will remember the talcing up idea if im around fiberglass like that again.. haha that sucked.
then I broke my middle toe literally in half because i slid off the top of a vehicle at the salvage yard and landed strait on the tips on my toes somehow ( foot musta hit a mirror or something on the way down). Lololol thrn i rolling around geabbing my foot and my cousin " wtf is wrong Adam !?! You ok ??? " lolol and my answer " NOOOOOOO IDIOT , YOUR SAPOSE TO BE WATCHING ME " LOLOLOL.. its probably best i never leave home without a helmet..
Oooooo it sounds sooooooo much better , so much throatier without any exhaust leaks and the 421 header really helps get rid of that raspy turbulent noise that the ebay style 41 headers have..
thx to my buddy Eric for leading Me a hand while installing the header..it sure is alot easier having an extra set of hands hold un in spot while the gasket gets put in and bolts started. I also cleaned the back side of the head pretty well before the new gasket went on. And of course, I put copper spray on either side of it and put in a new gasket in the collector too and lol coated both sides of that with exhaust putty just encase the flanges wermt perfectly flat. Buuuuut there no leaks so ille take that as a win. Unfortunately still louder than I like but what ev..
I got cut short on time because the granddaughter stopped over abd was begging me to go to the pool with her. So of course I did....
so I will take out the Barrowmnarrowband 02 sensor and wire in the wideband sensor. I already have the sensor in the header and wire run I just need to install the gauge and run wires..
Finished tightening the header bolts now after a few heat cycles and got in the wideband and we t and did some hard hard spirited backroad driving in MexicoCreek and I must admit. I love this car and it's more fun to drive than my grey one.. yea ,it's not near as fast but it's louder , handles just as well and still looks very nice. It's nice to be able to go wot for abit and not be exceeding 100mph in a matter of no time like my grey car. Don't get me wrong , it's fun but it's funner to just be able to lay into the car full out and hear the sc at its max whine and exhaust expelling as much air as possible.. what AN ABSOLUTE BLAST this car is to drive..
it's ALSO good to know the afr are pretty much spot on. It runs 11.5-12 at wot mid-max boost , it could be a tad richer buuuuuuut it NEVER went any leaner than 12.5 In a boost situation so that's safe..it ALSO has 3/4 91oct and 1/4 93oct because when I'd gassed up on my way back from up north they only have 91oct ethanol free so I bet the afr will be perfect once I get in strait 93oct.. I also have bottles n bottles of octane boost because when I see it on clearance I grab em all..lol.
last ones I got were the Lucas red bottles and I got them for 98cents apiece SCOOOOOOORE.
here's pics if the gauge install . As you see I did a very very clean Install. No hanging wires or stuff too close to heat ect..I had to jog out a gauge holder because the afr gauge wouldn't fit but other than that it all was easy and straightforward..
Sweeeeeeeet . I scored ANOTHER sneedspeed intake Manifold !!! Unfortunately my kavs ic deal fell through because the owner said " I'm canceling your order and you have to resend money as gift not payment for good , too many times paypal took my money " loool yea , he's not taking my money though.. so absolutely DO NOT order from kavs in the uk.. scum bag business ethics..even if he wasn't trying to steal my money he was refusing to accept any responsibility if it got lost in shipping, he'd 2x his money then by keeping my money and keeping the lost package claim.. so I'm still looking for a watercooled ic for my other mini if you have one..
but I took the money and put in an offer on the sneedspeed Manifold and lol the seller accepted ot without even countering..i wish i woulda hit him lower now but im more than happy with the price i paid.
SO IF YOU WANT the port n polished intake Manifold thats on this car i listed it in the forsale forum.
I will still need to port the sneedspeed Manifold because even the one on my car now I'm willing to bet the ports are opened up more. Only plus the sneedspeed has is the bigger welded on section but once I finish porting and polishing it inside it will be better..
Soon as it gets here it will be getting installed.
Sweeeeeeeeet , I came across an already made custom waterpump flange so NOW I can run my extra Davies electric waterpump. Taking off the stock waterpump us going to really help my ported sc spin up better and utilize the 19% pulley better.
I also got the new Manifold BUT I need to port it more , lol I bet mine I got on my car flows better because of how much it ported but once I do the same to this sneedspeed Manifold then it will outflow the current one my car has on.
I found a much MUCH cheaper option to the vibra technics engine mount , it looks almost identical to the vibra one but cost me only 95$ SHIPPED and it IS brand new too. I might take the upgraded bushing off my grey cars top mount and use that on this car instead because it is my daily and I don't want it tooooo jarring of a ride. But my grey car ? Lol all I care is if it goes fast and turns hard.
allllĺllllllllso I MIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT be getting a sprintex supercharger kit for it !!!!!! I gave the guy a very VERY strong offer and he'd said he would sell it to me for the price but you never know , he might not want to part out his car and keep it complete , which I can't blame him BUT my offer was STRONG. I'm embarrassed to say how much I offended..lol
I got the Manifold ported n polished. I ported it , then media blasted it and then finished it off with 1500grit..
it turned out fricken excellent !
I broke the trigger on the ghetto ebay blastergun so I had to run to harbor freight and grab another one which is actually much better quality, I also grabbed a bu ch of ncw fittings so all my air tools that I never use have the exact same fittings..
Damn! You went to town on that manifold! What are you using? I tried a little with a rasp bit and some stone bits but I think I need some better quality bits to make any impact.

I have multiple different lengths and sized tungsten carbide double cut and single cut porting bits , similar to what's pictured below..depending on the angle or depth of cut determines which bit I use..
I also have a mixture I spray inside befor the bits start every time and i dip the bit in it too every time I remove it to keep it cool , lubed and not clog up with aluminum material ( which can be a pita if you overheat the bit and not clean or lube it , itle wreck the bit with minutes)
I agree. I use Tap magic cutting oil (I needed to drill and tap the snout of a crank to make it accept a bolt- Very scary!
Anyway, I'm looking for the bits that make this all happen. So I think I need what you have and some quality flappers to smooth it down. Looking forward to seeing your progress with the blasting. It's something I've considered, but haven't gotten to yet.
Keep up the informative posts and work! It helps the entire community when folks post their work and pics and give the rest of us some ideas. (like spending more money lol)

thx bud...I hope my posts help people along the way in their builds..
Got on the sneedspeed intake Manifold and I FORSURE verified the the CAR DOES HAVE a remanufactured engine AND I don't know how I never knowticed but it is a post facelift too judging by the pcv style. Also the alternator looks to be pretty new too , I guess when I did the clutch I was too busy to notice...
BTW you CAN remove the intake without removing the sc , well atleast fully. I removed all it's bolts but left it the waterpump so I could pull down the passenger side corner enough fir the intake Manifold to clear..
I had 1x issue..I ruined 2x top fuel injector Orings and when i tested started it WOW , fuel EVERWHERE ! i had a huge puddle under the car and got the pleasure of smelling it the entire time I fixed it but atleast it was a quick fix...
anyways here's pics...
It looks like your crank sensor is leaking pretty bad too. If you havent get a new oring for that.
yes it is , I have a new crank to put on I just haven't gotten around to it..
Good eye ! It has gotten to the point of almost needing replacement. Once I see the 1st drip of oil beneath the car it gets changed..
Daaaaaaaaamn I can't BELIEVE how much power this car just picked up..honestly, it's not much less than my fully built grey mini now..
just swapping to the ported sneedspeed and grs motorsport ic it made a HUGE difference. It doesn't make any more max boost BUT it runs cooler and hits max boost easily.. i just cant believe how much faster it is..it now has almost NO traction in 1st gear if i go wot and am above 10mph , it just lights up the tires like a fricken monster...
I'm just blown away how much these 2x things helped. And it already had a ported Manifold and upgraded ic too but these 2x are just , so , much , better...
I'm going to be going up to my cottage again tomorrow so i will be able to see how mileage has been effected BUT i will have 2x passengers and suitcases ( though there 2x kids ) but still , every 100lb matters with this little engine.
Cel stayed off the entire round trip and pulled 28mpg..
I got a stock tbody and I fully ported it out and I'm going to see if this car too prefers a stock ported tbody over the bmw 65mm tbody..
So I'm going to toss it on tomorrow and go take it around and see how it feel and 2x check how its running with inpa n stuff durring.. I imagine fuel trims ect will be more accurate with the stocker and I'm hoping it responds like on my other mini.. with the bmw tbody it DOES make 2lb atleast more max psi BUT I feel like it looses too much velocity with a 60mm blade and 65mm opening.. the stock ported has the oem 59mm blade BUT olive port n polished both ends and tapered them to 64mm.. so it has the larger openings but not too large and the smaller blade will backup the air abit befor it enters past the tbody blade and I'm hoping it creates anit more velocity and abit better flow.. I mean , just swapping a stock to stock ported I definitely feel an all around gain. I can't say the same for the bmw tbody..
so ille post back and lyk my results tomorrow.
as of now causing iat on 81'F day is d10'F and at max boost 16psi and wot , hard long pull , max iat I see is 155'F..
I know that's not saying alot but it gives you an idea.
Well I think I like the stock ported tbody better.. idk if it's any faster but I just like that oem feel. It makes about 1.5lb less boost but feels as quick. Definitelynot topend but lowend it does so ok because thats where i want my powerband.
I unfortunately couldn't find my aftermarket intake I had that fit the oem tbody and I didn't wanna use an adapter for the 3in intake because I wanna sell it with the tbody. Sooooo I'm using just the stock oem intake tube for now and i reordered another aftermarket one. Not that the aftermarket is that much better but it is a tad larger diameter and fully smooth all the way through it , unlike this accordion *** stock one.. but here's a link to the 65mm setup I'm now selling to put towards a replacement hood finally for the car..
Some MAJOR changes coming.. a few fixes and unfortunately a demod inorder to fund one of the fixs BUT it's allllllllll going to be worth it. Just you wait a week and see. I will post back once things start to arrive but to start, it no longer has the grs motorsport ic anymore unfortunately and it will be gaining some boost back but a little extra iat running oem intercooler. There's not really a power trade off unless I'm really laying into in and heating up the stock ic because that grs really is one of the best aftermarket ic's I've used.. I just HAD to get that extra money to purchase what's coming...hehe , you'll see.. it's one BIG thing and a few other upgrades to help run safer.
I finished the chrome delete finally by doing the under window trim and installing r50 side scuttles..just waiting on parts to arrive to take this baby up another notch...
