Well I picked her up today. But I had so much going on it was hard to be excited. Got the windows tinted first thing. Tomorrow I will take better pics inside and out. New radio going in tomorrow too.

First impressions are that its a fun car. Want to open her up but gotta break it in first. Just now checked out the lighting in the dark. The Xenons make a HUGE difference. Wow! Love the rear fog light. The interior lighting is nice and subtle.

Oh and the anthracite headliner is SO worth the extra $200. I didn't think so when I ordered it but I thought it would look good. Well, it looks great AND with the tinted windows the car is dark on the inside even in the day. Much easier on my eyes than the sun lighting the thing up.

Here are a couple pics.

Do I or don't I

I'm sitting here not knowing if I should get on the plane tomorrow or not.
My MA is off on Thurday and found out today way another menber did not buy there Mini the second time from Sterling. Talking to the manager was full on negatives!! Have a 45 minute window of oppertunity tomorrow morning to find out from my MA. Wish me good luck.

P/S I also had my first Mini dream last night, there were damage to the paint on the frame rails during manufacture and had to hassel the dealer about iit.

I had my first MINI dream last night as well. I went to go pick it up and it was not quite the MINI I had expected. The long bonnet similar to an MGA wasn't so bad but the bonnet stripes made out of black electricians tape was not quite working out. I woke up before my wife and I could decide to keep it or not. I hope my pick up tomorrow goes a little better.

Just 17 hrs and 54 mins. to go. I am sure there will be more MINI dreams tonight.

Are you saying that you found out about somebody who was buying a second MINI and chose not to get it from Sterling after getting their first one there... Or that Sterling found out that they're loosing repeat business?

BTW you can chalk me up as one of many who bought MINI #1 from Sterling but refuse to buy another car from them... All due to 1 person, whom you've apparently spoken with...

Thanks for the pictures! Just too bad we are 4 days behind schedule.
Wish we were on a WW ship like Resolve, which usually come in early!

FINALLY! Picked up Rufus today (18th) around 6 PM. My MA called me around 10 this morning and I was like how about this evening?

Spent 2 and a half hours there mostly in friendly banter while in between explaining the car to me. Great guy (Alex at Hank Aaron BMW). Drove all of 10 miles to the house and had to get to work....drove the Jetta because I don't want to mess up the interior with my work clothes (it can be a messy job). Gonna take some pics and post some drive impressions....which I guess would be my last post in this thread.

Dealer wants payment before delivery

My MINI arrived at the dealer on Thurs. I wasn't expecting it until later this month. I re-arranged my schedule and called my MA yesterday to see if there was any chance they could have it ready for Saturday delivery. They had 7 deliveries on Sat. and couldn't get it ready. Understandable given the short notice. So now the only time I can get there is April 1. But, get this, they want me to pay for the car before the end of March!

Has anyone else experienced this? Doesn't seem quite right if you ask me.

Tell them you will pay them in March after you talk to your lawyer and the Better Business Bureau.

I just love hearing about uncooperative dealers...

If you haven't signed anything other than the initial order, and don't have anything that commits you to picking up the car before then... You have every right to refuse to pay them for March. If the car hasn't been delivered to you, and you haven't signed a contract on the car, then they can't charge you for goods an services they haven't delivered against your will...

I hate to say this though, if they insist on sticking to this, you need to be prepared to walk away... While odds are just the threat of you doing so will change their mind, you need to brace yourself for the possibility that you might need to...

I know it's hard after waiting so long and letting the anticipation build so much to even consider doing such a thing, but it's that very same anticipation that your dealer is trying to take advantage of...

Although along the same note, we're going to sneak down to the dealer today to see if the car is done... We're not scheduled to pick it up until Monday, but we'll see what happens...

We're interesting in picking up the battery powered convertible for our son anyway and want to make sure it isn't too small for him first... So if we can get the car great, if not.. We're prepared to wait 48 hours...

It is a lousy rainy day in Northern California as we prepare to go pick up our new convertible but I am sure as soon as we pick it up it will feel like the sun is shining big time.

Just 4 hours, 14 mins. to go.

The good news, David fits fine in the convertible, actually he still has a good 4 inches to grow before he can use it! But he was thrilled sitting in it, which was amazing since he was in a really foul mood... he got woken up from his nap...

We've now seen the car... pictures will be posted soon, and it looks great. Can't wait.

The bad news. Our MA is MIA!. He was expected back Friday from a "out of the country" (I think Canada eh!) vacation... and hasn't come back yet, they're not sure when they're going to see him again. Apparently he's been having issues with his return flight...

The other bad news, we couldn't pick up the car today... Actually not a surprise but we figured what the hey . When we were there this morning our extra bits (roof rack, driving lights, Sirius) still needed to be installed. But they tell us everything will be ready for us Monday.

And for the photos

Enough of the reviews of the great day we had -- even if we didn't come home with the NEW MINI --- heck we still drove around in a MINI all day long.

Here are the photos!!!

Hugs,
PB

Got home today!

Well, I've just had a great day! Crystal picked up my father and I at the hotel, and there was my baby with a red bow and shining bright!

Took it all the way up the turnpike having a blast! (love the GB voice on the navigation).

Halfway home, a fellow mini came flying up behind me, I waved, she honked the horn and waved and must have seen the big goofy grin on my face.

I'll try and post pics soon!! I've had an incredible 300 miles so far! (got a great start on the break in :smile

We're MINI owners at last!

Our first view:

My wife driving it out:

On the way home:

And one more:

It has been quite a day. The rain stopped enough so we could drive it home with the top down but with the wet roads and fresh tires I certainly did not try to push it. Hopefully tomorrow will be drier and I can take it out for a good run.

Right now it is around 8:30 at night, the kids are asleep, and my wife is down in the garage sitting in her new MCSc. I think she likes it.

More later on impressions etc. I am just too tired right now. Goodnight.

Absolutely gorgeous!!!

I see you didn't go with the Xenon lights (neither did I) and the car looks so much nicer and cleaner IMO

Enjoy that new convertible. Oh my! I am soooo excited...less than 12 hours left before I pick up my new MCS hardtop!

I'm heading down Wed morning. I felt like having a day to learn the area, check out the Cherokee things in the area etc. Just thought I'd like time to look around the area before hand.

Thinking of taking a video projector with The Italian Job movies, and a couple of shows about the MINI along to set up some evening...

This was something we had looked at doing, however we were unable to come up with a suitable location to set it up...
