R50/53 Official 2005 February Build Thread
Once again, the OL changed my delivery from 2/26 to 2/19. I spoke with my MA today. He has not physically seen the car yet himself, but he lists it as "in inventory" which he says means it is either there or due to arrive on the truck today. Pick up tomorrow!

All I have to say is...
Yeah baby! Bring it ON! YEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWW!
Next post should have the pics

For those who think their car made it onto the Carmen (left on 14 Feb. bound for Pt. Hueneme, CA on 5 March) here is a map of its progress:

I've been having a hard time with the name for my MINI. I'm thinking about just calling it FPPE. Sure you can't pronounce but I've seen other initials.
Kudos to the first person to figure out FPPE...it's really easy.

MFSW

IT is awaiting transport onto the MADAME BUTTERFLY, leaving 2.24.05 and arriving Charleston 3.9.05.
SUCKS. Why you ask?
I will be in Chicago for business from 3.11-3.18
My car will probably be ready for pickup when I'm in Illinois!
Well maybe when I fly into Orlando, I can hop right onto a flight to Ft Lauderdale and pick up my baby!!!!

Well mine is here!! I don't know if I'm the first off the Resolve to see his car. But it was at the SC port on the 17th and today it arrived at the dealer here in Texas. I got to drive it between parking lots. It still had all the wrappings on it, including the spacers in the suspension, but it looks awesome. Can't wait to see it with the body kit. Should be ready before this weekend!!!
awsome yellow, mine is scheduled for delivery tomarrow, so hopefully i can drive it away tomarrow night, i'm only having stripes put on! how soon after the scheduled delivery did you get your car? i'm in ohio and it says i will get it tomarrow.

I still remember your long ago, rather negative, posts - just shows the power of the MINI that you stuck with it and still do. Just like GMINI

It was built on the 16th or 17th and has been waiting in South Hampton since the 17th.
Chili Red S/W....MFSW....Sport Link and Bike Rack.
I am going to have a Helix pulley insatlled at the Dragon (hopefully if we can get a couple more people). I am going to put on a Miltek exhaust, Alta intake and springs as soon as the thing hits the garage.

The tracking info is collected from weather reports which are not compulsory for the ships to file
Another Week 8, Feb 25th sched completion.
Hi Deanna and other Week 8's...
Ordered first week of Jan. from MINI of Sterling, VA
'Production Started' Feb 14th at 4 a.m. from MA email
'In body shop' today Feb 22nd via automated ASKMINI
I've got a scheduled date of the 25th for completion.
My MA said mid March at one point, lately mid March to early April. Comparing notes though with other posters I've seen some 30 day deliveries on the east coast so we'll see...
Here's the obligatory config listing...
Chili Red S Convert. Black Bonnet stripes, 16" V spokes, Full Aero Kit,
Limited Slip, manual tranny, Cold Weather pack, cruise with wheel controls,
Chrono pack, body colored dash and door elips, front and read fogs,
aux audio, etc.
Dealer only had 15" shod non S and 17" shod S to test drive. So taking a chance with 16's based on reading and talking with some owners. Figure if I'm disappointed in them I can do a upgrade pretty quickly.
I've been very frustrated at not being able to do a red and black interior. It's available in the hard top but not the convertible. So I'll be doing the seat cover thing pretty quickly.

I went to the DC Area Mini breakfast at Tate this past weekend and had fun. Never saw so many MINI's in one place.

Welcome to NAM Mark!
Yes the wait is almost over for you and quite a few other people...myself included. I am hoping to pick mine up march 18th but we shall see.
I ordered the car February 7th, production started shortly thereafter..don't know when. Car finished on the 21st and is schedule to cross the Atlantic on the 24th. If you're in the DC area I would guess your car will be on a ship bound for the NY/NJ port.

Have you considered the Tartan Red Cloth seats with Black Leather bolsters?

You're probably booked on the Madame Butterfly with Auldin and I!
Re: Tartan Red with black seat bolsters...
That's precisely what I wanted, but am told that's only available in the hardtop. The brochures for the hardtop and convert seem to back this up..
I've seen Tartan Red seats that are said to be seat covers, but others folks tell me that the seat covers are different in shape of the panels and not the same fit as some I've seen. Parts guy at dealer told me the current tartan seat covers didn't look like the ones in photo below, which is what I want/wanted. Can someone confirm whether these are covers vs. factory seats? And if seat covers avail now in '05?
I'm not convinced the parts guy knows anything about MINI's. When I pinged my MA to be sure I got the fog light black out panels with my full aero kit, his response was that the parts guy said you can't tint lights in VA. I explained that it was a black panel with a hole in it for the lights. Also suggested they try looking at the accessory catalog for '05 they gave me with several pics of the panels with holes.
That book lists the tartan but no pic of them...
Anyone with recent first hand experience with the seat covers?

Check out my new cars specs - getting a hard top for exactly this reason; not allowed tartan/red seats on US spec convertibles (you can get it in England!)
