Hello. I'm new to this board and want to join in the discussion. I also have a new MCS on order and was scheduled to be built starting 3/9, but was pulled into 2/17
so now I'm a Feb build!!
With an "ASK MINI" completion date of 3/1!
So now I have a VIN, but waiting for paint as of 2/21.
Here's my MCS spec:
Pure Silver (body color roof)
Black Leatherette
Anthracite interior
Anthracite Headliner
Chrome Mirror Caps
Convenience Pack
Sport Pack w/ Web Spoke wheels
Cockpit Chrono Pack (w/OBC)
Limited Slip Diff
Auto AC
MFSW
H/K Stereo
Rear Fog Light
Bluetooth Kit
Sirius Kit
Invisisheild 3M Kit
Aux Input
Tint & Mats
I am also interested in the power folding mirrors, but no joy with the dealer & MINI. Looking for part numbers to see what this will cost out of factory. If you've seen the video of the folding mirrors, you just gotta have them!
Thanks for all the info on this thread, and look forward to joining you guys on the road with the same "family" of MINIs!

Mine is here. Here are some pics I took today. The body kit will begin getting painted tomorrow and it should be ready to go after work on Friday!!

Yes, that's the conclusion I came to. So far anyway. I keep hearing contradictory info though. I decided it was easier to change the seat color on a convertible than to change the hard top to a convertible on a car with a red interior though
I did a fair job on a JCW conversion though. Found a diecast JCW at the dealer that's a spitting image of my car, Chili, S, Full aero. Only wrong wheels, and hard top. Bought the metal model, it met my Dremel and now it's a convertible. Came out pretty good too!

[QUOTE=mmatarella]Hi Deanna and other Week 8's...
Ordered first week of Jan. from MINI of Sterling, VA
'Production Started' Feb 14th at 4 a.m. from MA email
'In body shop' today Feb 22nd via automated ASKMINI
I've got a scheduled date of the 25th for completion.
My MA said mid March at one point, lately mid March to early April. Comparing notes though with other posters I've seen some 30 day deliveries on the east coast so we'll see...
Hi mark, I have a yellow MCS conv. on order from Sterling also. In production now with a completion date of 2/26/05.
Tryed to get some info out my MA today, but he was not very informative.
If all the ducks get lined up in a row. I am hopeing I can fly up from NC on
3/19/05 to pick it up. I'm going to Hawaii after that and would not be able to get it till 4/8/05.
It's all good!!!
Perhaps we could do a Mini ride around the Photomic, Maryland area.

Tell me about it. Now that mine is actually sitting at the dealer waiting for the prep work to be done... I have forwarded my email and phone to work today just on the off chance that it is done early.

The Carmen is now (Wednesday noon GMT) cruising in the Caribbean, 30 mi west of Puerto Rico, 40 mi east of the Dominican Republic. Still 72F and a mild east wind helping her along.
She should be off the Panama Canal Friday afternoon.
Cheers,
Dave

Its at the dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just sitting at my desk eating a nice lunch and my MA calls. I thought he was telling me it was at the VDC since they didn't know where it was on Monday!
This pains me but I am going to wait until Saturday morning. Too busy with work, plus they are calling for snow all day tomorrow into Friday. No need to get the new Open all salty!
Woohooo.

Coopers4us' cooper: Yeah, can't wait to get to Florida, I hear the weather is beautiful.
moneypenny's cooper: Did you say Florida? That's where I'm going too!
Coopers4us' cooper: Really? I'm going to Lauderdale, you?
moneypenny's cooper: Me too!!! My new owner ordered me from Crystal, she got the recommendation from someone named Coopers4us.
Coopers4us' cooper: That's my new owner! Coopers4us! This is great! What are the odds, I'm telling ya!
moneypenny's cooper: Wow, I can't wait to tell moneypenny when I see her. Only thing is, I got word she might be in Chicago when we get to the dealership. *sigh*
Coopers4us' cooper: Oh, I'm sure she will dread every second away from you! Especially if she knows you're in Lauderdale waiting and she's in chilly Chicago.
MONEYPENNY: Darn tootin'! (screaming across the pond) I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU BABY!!!!!!! WE'RE GONNA HAVE SO MUCH FUN!
hee hee
ITS FRICKIN' AWESOME!!!!! Picked up my all black MCSC automatic with the chrome package last night. I have been too busy driving it every second I get to take any pictures. So far I have had to make my way through the crowds to actually get to my car after I park it any any public place with the top down! I'm talking about typically 10 people standing around it if I leave it for any more than 15-20 minutes.
As far as the automatic is concerned, I originally had a manual on order and gave it up 3 months ago when it was on the ship to Charleston. My wife and I nearly got in a divorce over the fact that she wanted to be able to drive it too (she has tried to learn on my past 2 manual cars without anything close to success). I was also afraid she might wreck the MINI trying to learn on it. Anyway, the automatic is VERY fun and now that I have it I have to say I love it. I have been driving it in sport mode and using the paddles to shift most of the time, but do put it into sport automatic mode when I get tired of shifting or in traffic. The sport auto mode holds the gears exactly like how you would want it to with a manual and even downshifts abruply like letting the clutch out quickly for your down shift. It holds gears in corners, etc... In some ways it works much better than I ever did in any of my manual cars in terms of gear selection. I can assure you that this transmission does not taking any of the sporting character of the car away at all. Kudos to MINI for coming up with such an amazing transmission.

Cold Weather Pkg
Convenience Pkg

31 Jan 2005 Car ordered
04 Feb 2005 Got Production Number
11 Feb 2005 Got VIN
19 Feb 2005 Car completed production, transferred to Southampton
22 Feb 2005 Car loaded onto Jingu Maru
02 Mar 2005 Car arrives in port!
05-15 Mar 2005 Est. delivery date!
Thank goodness for the 2wglobal.com web site. The MINI Owner's Lounge could use some improvement in the vehicle tracking area.
I'm still coming with names for my new baby but it's definitely a female. Perhaps "Ebbie" (ebony) but that might be confused with Electric Blue. Anyway, hope to see more my fellow MINIs on the road!
