Thanks for finding the pic Cooper4us, I was wondering if it looked like the others.
You are welcome, Aulden. Our MINIs should be sailing sometime today, if not already done so. Right now it is 5PM in the U.K.

Once out in the open Atlantic ocean, it will be 13-15 days (depending on the final port of destination) before our cars see solid ground again. Figure another 2-4 days at the VPC (If everything goes smoothly) and then another day or so for dealer prep before actual delivery.

When my MCS arrives at the dealer, they will still have to install the MINI iPod adaptor and the Union Jack roof flag decal, which takes 24 hours to fully cure. When everything is all said and done, I hope to be taking delivery sometime on March 19th or 20th.

This is the 3rd time I order a new MINI, and every time is a new thrill!

Anyway, the base is my feeble attempt to gain the lost car of my youth (an Austin-Healy Bugeye Sprite-I had a chance to get one that needed restored but of course at the time I didn't have the $$$$). I guess the beauty of the MINI is that it reeks of individuality. Also, I have never noticed a superiority or inferiority complex from S or Base owners. So to all happy motoring.

Rest assured your base will have mine to keep it company on the journey,
As the current owner of an essential "bare bones" 2002 Cooper CVT, I can't tell you the base model is a delight to drive with tight handling, smooth ride and excellent fuel economy. We have had ours for nearly 28K troublefree miles and plan to keep it for another 2 years, or, until MINI releases the Clubman station wagon version on the next generation R56 MINI.

Coopers are kinda rare, because most owners tend to favor the MCS (Myself included), but rest assured that the Cooper model will not short change you in the "grin" department.

Yeah I received an e-mail from by dealer and he said that it will be about 3 weeks to delivery. All I am getting is the Sport-Link installed which I was going to do my self at first until I saw the actual install guide and what was involved. I said screw that and they said it would take them 2 hours at the most to get the thing in (mine is the first they will ever do...Hank Aaron BMW). I am expecting to drive away around the 16th of March. CANNOT wait.

Anyone have a link to the vessel crossing the pond tracking info?

The Madame Butterfly has set sail from Southampton. She'll dock in New York in 8 days (3/4/04) and then Bmore and then Charleston on the 9th. Don't know how to track it day by day though.

I am going to try to dig up the website for tracking the cargo ships while crossing the Atlantic. I have used it before. The only problem is that if the ship doesn't send a call signal, at any given point during the trip, it will not be visible in the reference map.

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading your posts, and am so happy for everyone that is getting their mini soon!!! Thanks for sharing!!

I ordered my MCS DS/Black first week of Feb (Friday, Feb 4th to be exact =)), and got my production number that day, I have been logging onto the ol everyday looking for the progress of my new baby!!! Thanks to the memebers of NAM, I figured out how to call for my exact build date (via ask mini), instead of just staring at the "scheduled for production" status - and to my surprise and delight I found out my mini is to finish production in two days!!!! I am so HAPPY and excited!!!! I couldn't help but jump up and down with joy and elation!!!!
Thanks for all the great information on how to track my mini once it is finished and ready to board and come over!! I will likely be checking in with the WW website as I anxiously await its arrival!
MCS 05'

Dark Silver/Black
Black Bonnet Stripes
Premium package
LSD
Xenon
Anthracite Trim
(And hoping to get the arm rest later)

Thanks,
Stephanie

Welcome Stephanie!

Your baby should be just a few days behind ours so don't sweat it. Where are you located in the US? Like the specs...simple but all the stuff ya need.

Folks, I found the ship tracking website:

http://www.oceanweather.com/

Now we need to find the "call sign" used by the Madame Butterfly. Any volunteers?

If anyone knows of any other websites for the purpose of tracking ships at sea, let us know. Oceanweather has been used by MINIACS trying to find out about their cars since 2002.

Have fun!

This is another ship tracking website and seems easier to use than Oceanweather.com. Still, I can't locate the Madame Butterfly on the map and neither its call sign.

It doesn't look like it has set sail as of yet.

Thanks for the welcome PassatDoTd and Cooper4us.
I am located in the Bay Area, CA.
Yeah, my car is simple with just the basics and small additions to enhance my driving experience (like LSD and Xenon) !

Congratulations MrV on your baby coming in tomorrow, and for the timeline, that should help the rest of us estimate our time of delievery!!!

Yeah, that was my intention. Not only for this thread, but the March one as well (I had previously gone back to the January thread and found information like this severely lacking).

Hey Stephanie (yuensee8)!
Welcome to the madness! I'm in the Bay Area as well (South Bay). My "Daisy" is on the Tancred, due in port in NY this Sat. I ordered thru MINI of the Hamptons, so she'll still need to be shipped cross-country but I'm hoping to have her no later than mid-March. Looking forward to motoring with you and other BA'ers!

Cheers,

Mine scanned and at terminal

Scanned at terminal today at 16:24

Says booked on Terrier on March 2nd, though a post here listed that ship as March 4th with 'arrival' of March 12th at New York.

Anyone know where cars for VA are unloaded? NY, NJ, SC?

Mark

I was born in south London (Crystal Palace to be exact) and grew up nearby (Bromley). Moved west to Bath for college, and eventually north to Newcastle (home of the Newcastle Brown) before emigrating.
My wife, Margaret, is like your Mum from Norfolk - born & raised in Norwich. But her Mum is Swiss

Congrats on your car - let us know how great it is when you get it

Honestly, this thread is quiet compared with the "Can't Wait For February" thread I participated in two years ago, when my current MINI was coming over (see this summary - 50 MINI owners in that thread!)

As for the website, phone & ships disagreeing - true! Only today did the owners lounge finally admit that GBMINI#3 was "en route" yet it was loaded onto the Tancred more than a week ago!

Enjoy the wait - then enjoy the MINI

How do you know? I mean it took a WHILE (6 hours) for the web site to update as to when my car was loaded.
