Well ille be........
I ordered this along time ago and the seller never gave me tracking info or anything. Well , it ended up showing up today so what a nice surprise that was.. imo it really ties everything in Well now. Gowd I WISH my leap diffuser was carbonfiber , I'm actually considering hydropdipping it..I would only need to get the under flares and part that wraps onto the bumper. Idc if it didn't get on the parts not exposed because it's too big of a piece for me to be able to dip but atleast I could maybe get just the visual section..
Ok.. wtf guys !!!
WHY IS THIS IC NOT TALKED ABOUT MORE !!!!!
This is the only , ONLY ic I've yet to try that has experienced ABSOLUTELY NO BOOST DROP , NONE !!!! It also cools better too. Ive had intercoolers that did flow better but they're cores were too small and they'd get wayy too hot.
this alta intercooler is absolutely amazing ! I can't believe I lost NO BOOST at all. I actually think the cars is making max boost sooner now.
This Is one of 3x ic's ONLY that ive found that use this type core , i believe its bar and plate and stock is tube and fin.
you can just look at it and see how much more efficient this type core is instead of cheap folded over fins. The other it's that I've tried that have this core are grs motorsport ( was the best until I tried this ) , an ebay hobo ( not the standard 60mm core , it was an odd brand ) and now this alta one.
recovery times are also excellent too. It doesn't spike temps. I just dont see why this ic didnt gain more traction. Was it too expensive when it 1st came out ?? Were they just really low production??
if you can find ANY info on this ic plz lmk because I'd like to read about it too. But im telling you this. IF YOU SEE ONE OF THESE come up forsale. BUT IT ASAP !
I just can't believe it actually outperforms my grs motorsport intercooler..

Lololol wooooow awesome. So this just got delivered.
I put new control arms n bushings and suspension on my aero and the balljoints didnt come with their nuts to bolt them down so i had to run n buy some , well i contacted the seller on ebay because he asked " everything ok with install if the parts " and i told him everything was good but they'd forgotten the nuts. I didn't even care and already left the guy a good review because he'd shipped them so quickly and price was good.. but instead of like refunding me 10$ or sending new nuts..the guy sent me an entire new package of control arms and balljoints.. haha AWESOME. now all I need is control arm bushings and ille have everything needed to replace whst hasn't been replaced yet upfront in this car. It drives fine buuuut I was told the bushings are wearing and the tire doooooes move a tad when I kick it when it parked. So I better just get it done to be safe..
and yea , I kick cars tires ! Lol..
Sooooo I'm going e85 if adriancl can tune for it..
I already ordered a larger pump and will be installing it even IF he can't because if he can't tune e85 IM GOING NITROUS !
I also will be ordering 1000cc bosche injectors when the time comes.
I put in a MUCH more accurate aem wideband gauge so I can better monitor my afr and have the ability to data log with it then too or what ever its called. I didn't finish mounting it because i ordered a silver faceplate , though now seeing the black idk if i will bother , i will probably leave it black. I will probably be tossing the old ebay gauge into my aero mini since i already have a backup wideband for it.. i just gotta get the new 421 headers setup and ready to install with it then..
I also changed the oil and added some sc oil since I got back from taking the car on around a 900mile round trip over the weekend .
While driving i hit rain for like 5min because i was riding the edge of the storm the entire way up and it ONLY caught up and got me when I had to stop fir gas..lololol the car GETS ONLY 25MPG LOLOLOL and that was driving as easy and close to speedlimits as possible AND I had a tailwind too. Lol the aero got 31mpg on the way there.. ah well , I'd give up another 8mpg for another 60hp..
Wooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa , I just got the ich to cram on the smallest serpentine belt I could so I'd ordered a few different sizes and I got one to baaaaaaaarely fit on with the help of my cousin but I had on a 1380mm and I now have a 54.25in length belt ( I don't know it's mm measurement) but woaaaaaaa the car PICKED UP ALOT OF POWER !!!! it only makes 2lb more max boost BUT it gets into boost with the slightest touch of my throttle.. I seen 21psi WITH my grs motorsport intercooler on.. I'm gonna have to make another drive along video , WAIT , UNTIL , YOU , SEE , THIS ! but here's a walk-around video of my 2x minis and how they're sitting rite now... my old belt also had an odd hole in the middle if it too.
I FINALLY got in the 340lph fuelpump. Test started it and it fired rite up. Pump sounds great..I will be test driving it soon ( in MexicoCreek ) and uploading a drive along video and figuring out how to use my new phone. Hopefully video quality will be better with this phone..
here's pics of old and new.
Kavs liquid cooled intercooler has been ordered..I'm ALSO working on making a heatsink cooling thing for the hotside of the sprintex..I begun test wrapping it and it looks like it'll come out exactly as I hoped but I wonder if it'll actually help..I am using copper and it's pressed all around the hotside horn.. It also will have a reservoir under the leftside scoop by the brake master and also a radiator I will mount infront of my coolant rad since it has the perfect provision to do so.it will be fed by 2x bosche intercooler pumps , one on each side of the radiator to ensure awesome flow..
I got to finish wiring in the wideband in the other mini and then i will finish this coing project.
What are you trying to achieve? Cooling that horn or the case? If the horn use the smallest possible meth jet you can. If the case itself keep in mind the rotor pack wouldn't be affected but if the case was cool enough it could cause expansions issues as in rotor pack expands with heat and case not as same rate could cause collision. Just food for thought. Google cooling blower case and you will find lots of info from non mini sources going back 50 years and their trials and tribulations. Just food for thought. I spray into mine and it keeps the whole thing cooler but not everyone wants to do that etc. Remember no matter how cool you make the air afterwards it doesn't add 02 denisty back to the charge that it had before it went in. Which in theory is why you want the air ingested in the first place as cold as possible to compensate for whats lost. Mis conception that if you cool the air back down even to say -20f it regains o2 density which sadly it doesnt.
Here was a good read on the case cooling if thats what your trying to do. ITs for a roots but just be careful that if the case itself was cooled enough and the inside rotors where the same when expansion happened it could be really bad day.
Are you spinning it at its max rpm ratio? Might be better to spin it slower and increase VE as a whole to keep it cooler and keep same power levels. Could also just look as a whole non mini specific what sprintex users do to keep everything cooler. Mini specific stuff is likely going to be limited and remedial compared to assimilating what all the other platforms do jeep toyota etc.
Again link talks about roots blower but the same principles apply to anything designed to expand contract together and if one of those factors doesnt ie) made cooler.
Also keep in mine about the in tank fuel pressure regulator and if its fed to much pressure it will open bypassing fuel back inside the tank harming over all flow. Lots of folks might not know that exists and how it works to keep line pressure only at 4.5 bar -1 bar atmospheric for the venturi to pump back over the sadle. which is why some folks grab a r56 s in tank regulator. So bigger might actrually reduce your over all flow causing IDC to get jacked.
What made you decide to go with this style of charge cooler? Kavs as well? Nice thing is these styles use the factory intercooler as their base and then modified.
Ille look into that stuff you sent later tonight...i dont plan on it decreasing intake Temps I'm just hoping once the liquid cooled ic is on to have that in conjunction with my contact cooling mjiggy kit to help keep the hotside horn and as far down as possible ( hoping it would help the case and oiltemps abit ) to help protect and prolong it. If I can get it to not be dang near burning hot once you press you habd on it , I will be happy with that. And your rite , it might not to a darn thing but for the cost of the reservoir ( 23$) , why not try it since I have all the stuff on hand to do it..
The better iat's i hope to achieve would come from the kavs intercooler. I'm gonna have an auxiliary tank in the trunk, probably like a 3-4 gallon and have it be iced. I know it will only be great until the ice melts BUT I guarantee the watercooled ic will outperform the stock and my grs BOTH combined.. that Marion ic I had ran AT ambient Temps once the ice melted. The Marion just had a terrible core design and caused too much boost loss to justify such cool iat's.. the colder gains from the lower iats couldn't even be felt because it lost so much power with the boost loss. It robbed about 5psi..
my grs only robs 1-2psi but cools outstanding and it DOES outperform the stock ..I have backroad tested them back to back numerous times and they are close but the grs does do better for backroad spirited driving.
soooo if I can get the amount if cooling IF NOT better than the grs with the kavs BUT sacrifice NO boost , that's a win win in my book..
I'd like to just sat F it and spray the meth into the boost toob rite beneath the throttlthrottlebody but I really really don't wanna disassemble the car for the bagillionth time AND I have not heard back from Adrian in along time after emailing and pm'ing him numerous times so I've given up on that and have been looking into other tuning options..time miiiiiiiiiiiiiight come to go aftermarket ecu this off season..we will see..
What made you decide to go with this style of charge cooler? Kavs as well? Nice thing is these styles use the factory intercooler as their base and then modified.
because you've taught me a few things and from researching and testing , the design of the kavs cooler had the potential to be one of the best possible ic's for my setup and driving style...I know there's a few other options but I feel I still can benefit from lower , more stable iat's.. if it doesn't cool as well as I'd hope , itle be time to move my meth nozzle into the boost tube beneath the throttle body..
You also at some point might just (like myself) come to the point where you accept you just cant get any better then what you have. I mean you have some stuff to do yet like e85/ecu but eventually you just hir a wall of this is all I can do wont get better than this limitations of engine/Supercharger. Like I am just maxxed out myself no matter what combo of parts it wont produce more than what I have until I change things like going to trubo etc. I am sure you are getting damn near or are at the flow limit of the Spintex only thing left to make power is timing via e85 etc but the power adder itself is just at the limit of what it does. Sucks but it happens all the time. Just like with the stock m45 you can only make so much no matter the combo or how cool the IAT etc. I have de tuned my car heavily. Still running e85 but dropped 4 pulley sizes. Just no need to run on the limits anymore for a small window I really shouldn't even be using on street.
So am back to a 65mm pulley one lower than the stock harrop. Just less hassle currently. It was designed and built to take extreme abuse but like you I dont feel like dealing with the car in general anymore if it where to have a issue from ruining on the edge non stop when it doesn't need too. I have 50,000miles plus on the rebuild in the last 3 years and honestly dont want to spend any more if it needed it. So figured de tune it and enjoy for potentially longer. I have well over 20-25 just in the engine crap and that's disgusting for what was achieved and would never spend that again on this car. Anything after a pulley on these cars is just mental in terms of performance return. I digress.
The platform itself is just a pia to deal with long term. To old to deal with quirks and nuances.

My only complaint and I have never used nor known anyone I know to use his stuff is the welds on his stuff are abysmal for the cost of product. Maybe what you get in person is diff from the pics he uses to sell the stuff. Sort of like the sneed manifold pic he posted years back to advertise it looked like a 8 year old blew boogers and slag all over it. But the one you have is not bad so who knows. Just for the cost one would expect quality tig welds. Curious to see what it looks like. I know GRS/Grant is a great welder and you pay for that premium too. Think his charge cooler is a complete ground up unit maybe using his core but KAvs I know is the stock unit inside from what I am told.
Also for more info on some of this I guess more exotic stuff like charge coolers mini torque is a database of people with experience etc. NAM has sort of always been the what oil plug wire type place.
Fired up a old Windows Xp laptop and found this from 06. Laminova setup. Thought you would enjoy.
sweeeet.. I juuuuuuuust ordered the grs motorsport watercooled intercooler FINALLY , unfortunately ordering a kavs intercooler wasn't happening so I got the imo next best option.. I'm going to run a 10gallon ice filled reservoir out of my trunk and a big Ole radiator for it too. I will ALSO be pumping it through with a bmw 3x series electric waterpump so flow should be no issue.. the 10x gallons should be adequate to keep it COLD for hoooooopefully atleast 30-45min of hard driving.. then I can dump it out the petcock, refill and go again just as cold as befor..though even once it heat soaks itle be better iats than I'm running now.
I did a bunch more testing on a 90'F day and my iats really arnt bad at all , they actually still are cooler than am oem mini but I want it colder...
Worth your time to talk to Krumm as he has the highest HP Sprintex r53 on the planet with Sequential transmission. Might be a language barrier but this is the person you should be talking to vs others who only talk about doing as he has led the way with your stuff.
Might be able to get his SPrintex map for when you go link as he ran a vipec last I checked same thing though. https://www.youtube.com/@MiniCooperR53RSR
Wow that ic is MASSIVE. I can't believe it's not experiencing a massive boost drop..I need to look more into his build .
your absolutely correct...I bet I can learn a thing or two seeing as how he's running his sprintex..
Sometimes its just about reading between the lines or watching with eyes even if no verbal or written info is given. Obv most sprintex people likely have never seen his stuff as its not published or linked/named like you would search for. IE sprintex fmic setup. Instead it mentions nothing of the sort in that regard. That car has well over 150-200k euro in it. The trans alone is likely around 25k usd.
Boost drop sure. For the street prob not ideal. But its a full on track car that spends long durations above 5-6k where temperature trumps max psi or power. The car is likely setup like a dog how you or I might drive on the street. I mean I havent spoke to him in years but i am sure its setup for peak power not off idle mid range stop and go.
So loose 2-5 psi and keep engine from welding itself? Or more power cant finish race......
Also uses a fabbed adapter plate to allow factory BPV. FWIW I run a electric BPV setup so I can setup boost curves or boost by gear basically. I can control a Mac valve to bleed off and open and shut BPV as I see fit.

Of course we are still working on optimizing the R53.
In the last few weeks, the engine of the R53 was built parallel to our developments and tests on the R56.
Among other things, the following were installed:
- Reinforced H-beam connecting rods
- Forged pistons (compression increase to 9.3/1)
- Sprintex compressor
- electric water pump with external control unit
- our new high-end cylinder head
- large front-mounted intercooler.
For this purpose, our doctor Krumm has adapted the complete engine peripherals down to the smallest detail to make the overall package coherent.
The last-named components are currently being tested on a standard JCW engine for proper functionality in order to then be able to do perfect work on the racing engine.
You can find photos of this in the album "R53 RS".
The target performance is ~300PS/300NM. Happy New Year!

I will post pics of the intercooler once it arrives.. my other grs motorsport ic is one of the nicest I've seen actually , its wwlds are beautifuland its fitmentis perfect.. and both my sneedspeed Manifolds were good , though imo they had alot more that needed to be ported but atleast they'd cleaned up the internal castings and slag when they'd cut it open to Weld on the extra volume extension thingy..
I'm piecing together an overkill sized and flowing cooling system to help keep that sucka cool.. lol wait till you see what i have sofar. I will only need a reservoir and I have a few in mind I just need to decide on which one to go with.. they range from 4-7 gallons too.
Grant is a legit master certfied welder in the uk. So there is that for grs. The sneed stuff I have seen boogered **** 3rd grader welds on his products. The first time he posted about the intake mani he posted a pic that was really really really bad and he got torched for it as it was that bad. The welds on yours dont look bad. The Kav stuff again looks like a novice with a stick welder had at it.

kavs quality of welds then is a perfect representation of who is he... lol he tried scamming Me out of an 1100$ intercooler, he refused to ship it because id sent the money as " payment for goods or service " and said he would only accept it as a gift because " ive had too many time paypal take my money back " he said lololol thats a REAL bad sign then.. so i just said F him and all his products for now on and will let anybody else know exactly what he tried to pull and to avoid that company.
ive NEVER had an issue ordering from oranjje.uk. that's actually one of my favorite vendors...
