door locks after two minutes

I thought the door will lock on its own after two minutes. It seems to only happen when I do not get out of the car. Anyone have an explanation?

It locks automatically after two minutes if the doors/hatch are not opened. I.e. You unlock your car from the outside but do not open the doors/hatch, after two minutes the car relocks itself. It does NOT automatically lock two minutes after you get out of your car. Once you leave your car it is still up to you to lock it via the key fob.

Thank you my new Mini friend! Any other interesting things about this ride that I might have missed?

A large part of the fun of Motoring is the discovery.

No, the key is in the ignition. It'll never lock itself.

BMW wouldn't design that many AAA calls.

The doors lock at 10mph. If you get out at the carwash and don't set the handbrake, and the car rolls away at 10mph , it will lock itself. Otherwise, no.

Getting out of the car with the keys in the ignition much less with the engine running is asking for a wave bye bye as someone drives off with you precious.

And, according to local law enforcement and insurance standards, if someone steals your car after you've left the keys in the ingnition and commits a further felony you can be prosecuted as an accessory before the fact.

I did that once and my car wasn't where it was. It was at the American Legion because the guy that stole it was too drunk to walk that far, so he said.
