>>The Tosca unloaded in Chalreston in the 6th. At least one of the cars arrived in Houston at 6:00 PM yesterday. The furstrating part for me is that I was booked on the Tosca and ended up the the "earlier" Tanabata. Pebbles was right, this is the hardest part. :???:

My MCS was on the Tai Shan and it landed on the 27th,,,and the car's still in NJ. MADDENING !!! Car's hitting the docks on the 6th are getting delivered one to two weeks later! argghhhh!

BTW, my BMW finance guy is giving guidance that the residual for my MCS is pegged at 67% after 36 mos and 64% after 42 mos. Me thinks they want the inventory? Sounds like the perfect excuse to buy it rather than lease or select.

I'm just getting on board 'can't wait 4 november' & hoping for HOTWLZ arrival before thanksgiving. Sounds like the Jingu Maru is pushed back a day huh? Oh well, I've been waiting since 9/4.

Does anyone know how to track our minis once we hit the coast? It would be fun to see where the truck is.

I have been trying 1-866-ASKMINI for 2 days to find out where the heck my MINI is. They say their computer is 'down'. I think Tony Soprano jacked the truck!!

I was in the November club but took delivery of my 2004 MCS on October 31st, so I was disqualified from the club due to early delivery. Love my MCS, already upgraded wheels and tires so if anyone needs S-Lites and factory run-flats with only 26 miles, let me know. I got the optional yo-yo, but it seems to get better as the miles add up. Also got the HK speaker buzz yesterday but otherwise love the car.

Hmm, I got the same story from my dealer today. Maybe it's true. To try and answer your question, once it's off the ship we might as well be in the twilight zone. Not even the dealer knows where your car is.

So, I drive by the dealership today. I see about 35-40 cars lined up looking pretty cool (it happens once a month, I know because I always drive by) and guess what, I see only ONE DS/DS MCS in the lineup, and I'll be darned, I forgot my digital camera. So I check in with the finace dept. Sure enough it's mine, but they need some time to prep it, so it looks like tomorrow or Thursday I pick up my new MCS !!!!

FINALLY !!!

Quick clean out the garage !!!
Quick order some snow shoes!!
Quick order some detailing products,,check, already did that.

I'll take lineup pics tomorrow and perhaps drive home pics as well. (probably Thursday though.) I want it bad, but I've got a TON of work to do and brought in a team to go over soem presentations with my client for abig meeting tomorrow. I made one of my co workers drive with me to see it, heck, if I'm playing taxi, I decide where we're going

Traveler1,

Concur on the Jingu Maru push-back. What the heck? To top it off, my MR was predicting "3 to 6 weeks" from now before the car is ready for pickup. Seeing as how he's in Annapolis and I'm having minimal "aftermarket" added, this seems a bit steep. I may be back in the "Can't Wait 4 December" club, after all.

Still haven't figured out how to track the truck. I'd guess that for security reasons, that may not be public info. If you find something, let me know.

>>I just called EBM and out of the 15 new MINIs they just received, exactly none of them were mine! Bugger! Looks like next week at the earliest. Hope the rest of the Otello gang has better luck.

We're in the same boat (or, rather, off the boat). We've been calling the dealership, and can't even get past voicemail, much less a response or real salesperson. I suspect Port Hueneme is holding the cars hostage.

No luck here either. My sales rep at Ralph Schomp's in Denver just said they've been experiencing some delays but didn't give any specifics. He did say it usually takes a week to 10 days to truck it from California to Denver so I'll give it another week before I start bugging them again.

Could be worse I guess:

Congrats!!!

Welcome Traveler1 ! This is a great group!

Traveler - My MINI took a week and a day to get from Charleston to San Antonio. I hope yours gets to Houston soon!!!

We have drizzle and rain here in Austin. I can't wash the car and I can't worry about how it looks. I guess that's a good thing, after being so obcessed over it!!

sounds like lots of you are "in limbo" between the docks and the dealership - hang in there!

--->Pebbles, love the new sig, looks awesome!

--->mbur1024, lol, nobody's ever disqualified out of a CWF club: home is where the heart is  What kind of wheels/tires did you get - lets see some pics!

I finally got my passenger Schroth harness yesterday - took a long time, but now my car looks symmetrical, hee hee. Also, installed side-marker tint from Lamin-X. The tint was a touch fussy to install, you have to kind-of pull it into the exact shape (not tough though), and then trim the excess with a razor or x-acto (I'm really picky!), but the result is stealthy and blacked out - yet the lights still shine through. (pics soon!)

Cheers,
Ryan

Well, Otello gang, we might have trouble in River City. Has anyone heard good news about cars coming off that particular ship? We finally got a voicemail response from Rasmussen MINI in Portland regarding our cars, and Amy Rasmussen (who should know--right?) said "The boat hasn't docked yet." Well, excuse me, the W-W site says the boat docked on the 4th and sailed on the 5th. So....what? They are holding the cars hostage, and are taking them back to Germany?

Ay-carumba. Is it okay to have a martini at 7:30 in the morning?

My MINI index is fluctuating between a 1.2 (we'll never see the cars...) and a 10.8 (we'll NEVER see the cars!!).

Yes, you have our permission. Although you may want to start with a mimosa, tequila sunrise, or bloody mary, the more traditional AM cocktails.

For what it's worth, I've found the WW site to be one of the more reliable sources of info. If they say your car is on that ship, and they list it as "discharged," it most likely is off the boat. The info your dealer has is probably just as stale as the info in the Owners Lounge. My car got discharged on 11/7, and the OL still says "En Route."

Now go get drunk!

Unfortunately, we're still shown as being "booked." Nothing seen about being "discharged."

Not necessairily. I think Jet commented earlier that the Port Hueneme folk are the ones behind the curve. His MINI wasn't discharged for several days after the supposed dock date. I know 8 days is a stretch but I'll hold onto the hope that they are at least on american soil and not on their way back across the pond.

Spoke to my MA yesterday and she stated that she has 10 Coopers at Port Hueneme that are waiting transport. She did verify that they are there, but she doesn't know when they will be delivered.

MINIUSA states that the dealer would have the most updated information on the whereabouts of the cars. Unfortunately our MA could not give us anything definitive.

So I guess we are all in a holding pattern. It is frustrating, but look at the bright side, they are just days away from being delivered. It is almost tempting to take the 8 hour drive to Oxnard to pick Gary up myself. I wonder....

I spoke to my MA at Tate Mini in Annappolis about 15 minutes ago, and he said mine should be ready between the 18th and the 24th. I'm not getting ANYTHING done by the dealer, though, so all they have to do is inspect. And he said that'd take 1-2 days. Are you getting them to do anything besides inspect once the car comes in? Assuming you're on the Jingu Maru, it sounds like your MA might have a rectal-cranial inversion problem. I hope your car is ready sooner than he's saying.

Well the OL finally updated my car to At Distribution Center this morning. I wonder if their computer problems are over.

I'm on the same ship which originally had a turn around time of 'same day' but now has a day inbetween. This usually happens when the ship does not arrive early enough for the workers to unload during that shift. There are premiums for Customs workers out of normal hours also so sometimes it pays for a 12 hour layover. I have some experience with this in reverse, shipping cars back to England.

I can only surmise that it would take about a week to get your car to the dealer after unloading. What with Customs release, inspections by the carrier, receiver and transport agent plus the need to schedule delivery with other dealers of different marques in the same area I think a week is not far off the mark.

Add to this three or four days for the dealer to get ready for you (clean, prep, inspect etc) and I think somewhere aroud the 29th would be accurate.

Does this sound about right?

I'm supposed to pick up tomorrow!!!

But it's clear that time lags vary greatly. My story - so far: 9 days from Oxford to set sail on Tai Shan, 9 days on the water, and 16 DAYS between NY/NJ and pick up!!! And I live around Wash. DC!

Obviously, proximity to the docks doesn't count.

As long as things go smoothly tomorrow, I can put it all behind me.
