Hello Everyone -
I took Mr Bridger to his first MINI Rally today! It was dark, drizzly and rainy, but we had a very fun time! Wonderful cars and really great people!

Traveler - call Tex-Dot at the number in your phone book blue pages. Have a list of what you want verified and the lady on the phone will tell you if it's in use or not. I had to call 3 times. I got the same lady twice, she was great, knew right away it was MINI and I was working to have one with it in the name.

Then once you have 2 or 3 you can live with, you print the form from their web site and you fill it out with your choices, use the * if you want to see the little state of texas as word seperator. Mail in your check with the form and you'll get a letter telling you which of the choices you are getting. Then in like 2 weeks they call you from your county courthouse and tell you to come get it. All total it took about a month to get my plates!

Ryan - it sounds like you've got your paint issue under control! Today I learned more about Zaino, the excellerator, etc... Sounds like it's a great way to protect the paint!

Here's Mr Bridger at the Rally !

Wow! It's been a while since I've had time to check this forum, and I see that a lot has happened! Congratulations to Ryephile, Pebbles, and the rest for the arrivals of your MINIs. And now for the big surprise; I thought I was in the "Can't wait for January" club and it turns out that my IB/W is going to be here before Thanksgiving. I just placed my order on October 4th, and now the little dude is on the "Jingu Maru" headed for Charleston. Cool! Now that I'm in the "November Club" I'm gonna have to catch up on a lot of the earlier part of this thread.

BTW, thanks Countrym for showing us the boat tracking link. I couldn't get the Coast Guard link to work, so I don't know exactly where the boat is, but at least my MINI is headed toward Houston.

Ryephile, Your IB/W looks great! What kind of wheels and tires do you have? I've been torn about getting white wheels for mine, but I really like the light weight of the SSR Comps. (I could powder coat them I suppose) From scanning some of your posts, it looks like I have almost the same plans for my MINI that you've already done to yours. I hope you don't mind some stupid questions like: Do you know what the spring rates are of the factory springs vs. the H-Sport and the H&R? I've always bought springs based on the in/lb rating and amount of lowering (yep, every car I've owned in the past decade or so has always been lowered) but I haven't been able to find this info about the MINI. Any advice is appreciated.

Pebbles, Mr. Bridger (I think I know where the name came from, but I'll have to sort through the thread to make sure) looks awesome! For my wife and I it came down to Dark Silver, Chili Red, or Indi Blue. Indi blue won out because her current car is Pewter Metallic, and mine is Classic Red. It was time for a change. Your photos of (the real) Pebbles are adorable. I'll send some photos of my car-riding, leash-walking, airplane-flying cat Lupe with my MINI when it comes in.

Now, back to catching up on this thread. WoooHooo!

Welcome to the Club Designit! Isn't it great when the can put your car in a production slot! Too bad your salesman didn't notify you sooner so you could have hung out here the past month! but what the hay! You're here now!! and yes, I went with the Red because I've never owned a red car before! So your choice of Indy Blue is perfect for you!!

OK the Jingu Maru is the JPPT on these maps!
Good luck finding it! Sometimes they don't report weather until after they unload the cars. Why? Who knows!

** I found these link maps will update as the ships report to the weather sites' master maps! **

Thanks Pebbles. Now I have to think up some tag options. Creativity for an engineer is always a stretch.

I like your new personalized sig file. Mr. Bridger looks great. It's interesting seeing a CR/W beside a CR/B. They look like two different colors.

MRMINI and mobygjc - congrats! Your wait is almost over.

Welcome DesignIt. Another Houston November Clubber! You did well on your delivery. I ordered on September 6th and will only get my car about a week ahead of you. I wonder if sales at Momentum are slowing down?

I contacted the General Manager by e mail on Saturday. It sounds like he will be handling my sale personally since they canned my salesman. Just as well. I found him to be the most helpful one there.

The Jingu Maru only reports in on the "oceanweather" site at 12:00 GMT (or 07:00 EDT). Check in the morning after 07:30 or hit the Java Loop option. She's been moving smartly over the last few days and should be bringing our early Christmas presents in on time. Hopefully, I'll have something to really be thankful for at Thanksgiving (well, besides the new kid due on Christmas Eve).

    First off, welcome to CWFNC!
My wheels (summer and winter) are from WheelMax - their house-brand Exel. I got them because they look awesome first, and are lightweight second. There are SO many wheels out there, you're bound to find "the one" that fits your personality (and the MINI's) just right

There was a MINI Cooper GUIDE that had is a nice list of things to check before taking your new MINI off the lot (sticker removal, odd gunk under the bonnet etc). However, when I went to my bookmark, the site is GONE!! - and I did not print the list!! Given that some of you guys have already picked up your '04s, do you have any updated advice that we need to look out for when we pick up our cars?
    Thanks!

    Yo Raider,

I know what you're talking about; I saw that link before. I think if you go back through this thread you'll find it somewhere. I think Pebbles might have posted it a while back.

Let us know if you find it!

Well hello fellow CWFNC members. I want to congratulate all of you who have received their fantastic looking Mini's. They are all unique and very stunning to look at.

Well Gary arrived onto California soil on November 4th. Just spoke to MA and was told that they are waiting to schedule trucking dates. Gary will be shipped to Niello BMW in Sacramento. This could still take a few weeks.

countrym - I just read a post on the OL forums from a guy in Houston whose car was on the Tosca. His car arrived at the dealership this evening. If they are moving the Tosca cars out that fast it hopefully won't be long until we see ours!

Well, everyone, I have to tell you this.....

Some times..... MY TIMING SUCKS !!!

On Friday afternoon, I was coerced by my so-called friends at work to attend a conference in California from Mon thru Wed (another long story).

The OL was showing an EDD of Wed, the 12th, but I figured it's been so far off on everything thus far, that I could take this little trip and be back way before Blue Brummie arrived.

    Or so I thought......

This afternoon, Monday, I got an email from Keith at Mini of Peabody, telling me that Blue had arrived ! So, here I am in California, and my beautiful Blue Brummie is waiting for me back in Peabody !! Argh !!

Oh well, at least I know she's safe and sound.

    I can't wait.

The next time you all here from me, it'll be after I get back from picking up Blue !!!

    Tick.... Tick.... Tick....

    BB

PS: The ticking sound in my head has gotten much quieter.... Ah, the peace of MINI ownership

    Just wondering,

Been reading alot on the 04's, I know they don't have the stumble, but alot off ppl are talking about the YO-YO. Are there any Mini's out there that don't have the yo yo?

Thanks for all the congratulations on my CWFNC status! I find I'm spending all of my free time researching MINI facts and aftermarket parts.

Tim, looks like you're going to have a good (but busy) winter with your MINI(s). It will be cool one day when your kid says; "Dad brought me home from the hospital in his MINI". Congratulations on both counts.

Pebbles, I love the Union Jack. It looks great!

Ryephile, thanks for your information on the MINI spring rates. It sounds like the H-Sport is the way to go for better performance without getting carried away with the "slammage". I assume that some sort of rear camber adusting device is necessary after lowering. Is there a preference between the adjustable control rods versus the eccentric bushings? I'm also assuming that the MacPherson strut front end would have almost no camber gain (loss?). Thanks again for your advice. I've started a "Ryephile-file" of modification tips.

Hey everyone, here's a thread I started with the pics I promised of my remote control MINI Cooper. It's been holding me over until the real one shows up.

Traveler, that's good news. I'm hoping that we'll both be motoring a week from now!

Blue, can't wait to see your pics!

Moby, I have the same concerns you do. I almost freaked out yesterday when I saw that thread about windshield cracks on 04s. Part of the reason I waited to get an 04 was that I thought a lot of the problems would be fixed! Oh well, I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope.

Of all the people that have taked delivery, what kind of problems are you guys having? Any?

    I want my MINI!!!!!!!!
I went to the dealer to ask for a status check, and they could not tell me squat! I told them I was on the Tosca so it should at least be in Charleston. "Oh, call tomorrow afternoon- maybe we'll know something then"
If it is true that soemone already has their MINI off the Tosca and mine is not enroute to the dealership, I am going to blow a gasket.
Now I know how Yosemite Sam feels before he blows his top.......

    >>Until than we are still picking up goodies for Gary's health and well being. Hope to hear from the rest of the Otello gang to find out the status of your vehicles.
    >>

I just called EBM and out of the 15 new MINIs they just received, exactly none of them were mine! Bugger! Looks like next week at the earliest. Hope the rest of the Otello gang has better luck.

The Tosca unloaded in Chalreston in the 6th. At least one of the cars arrived in Houston at 6:00 PM yesterday. The furstrating part for me is that I was booked on the Tosca and ended up the the "earlier" Tanabata. Pebbles was right, this is the hardest part. :???:

Argh...according to the WW site, the Jingu Maru's arrival date in NY has been pushed back a day! tick...tick...tick...

I can't imagine how those of you who've been waiting months could do it.
