Ryan - You mean after 990 miles it will drive different?

Good Golly Miss Molly sure like a ball ! ! !

It's so fun and has so much get up and go, I can't wait to see what happens today! I have about 950 or so miles and today I'm going to visit my brother in San Antonio - 90 miles away. So I'll go at least 180 there and back today! and by the time I get to Steve's, I'll have passed 1000 miles so he'll get to drive it when it's not in break in mode! WOW! He'll love it !

Ryan, thanks for that update. It's good to know BMW is working on a fix. I thought it was just me not knowing what I'm doing (which is still probably true).

I'm also glad you said something about the expiring break in code, whatever that is. I don't know much about engine software or what have you, but I did notice yesterday while doing some highway driving that the throttle responsiveness of my car was AWESOME. I told my friend, how could I have not noticed that about this car BEFORE? I started to have a lot of fun with it after I realized how "zippy" the car really is. I guess perhaps this is something that is prohibited by this break in code during the first 1,000 miles? I'm not sure, but all of a sudden I'm having one hell of a time driving this baby!!

The break-in expiring code will happen at a different mileage per person, per car. MM1 seemed to hit the point at 900 miles, whereas I've been driving MM2 easier, so it took longer to get through the break-in. My MA also believes there is a second set of expiring code at about 3000 miles. He says that customers say that the yo-yo just stops around that mileage, so we'll have to Motor and see!

Pebbles - don't forget to "check-in" over in Off-Topic, Clover is worried you haven't been getting enough silliness, hee hee!

Everyone have a great Saturday!
Ryan

Well I just sold my Protege 5 over at Car Max. I am now officially without a car for the first since.... high school? OMG! ) They had just finished with MINI bath time and there was a whole herd of slightly wet MCS' out there. There must have been another truck yesterday because I have never seen so many cars at Momentum. Every one of them was unique, and once again I wanted one of each.

I am starting to get a little skeptical on whether I will get my car Monday. They have a lot of cars to prep. Oh well, I did not follow their "friendly" advice and go ahead and have my Credit Union give them draft instructions. I almost laughed when he said that as I thought about Pebbles' similar experience. I will have a check in hand when the car is ready.

Well at least the Southhampton dirt is off and there is a good crowd to hang with for a few days. tick.. tick ..tick......

Take a look at this stuff: http://www.corrosionx.com/rejex.html
A lot of 350z and BMW folks swear by it.

WOW!! Thanks jimz, I'm gonna check that stuff out. Sounds great! You can even put it on your windshield?! I wonder if it will prevent it from cracking!

Has anybody else in the CWFNC heard of/used this product??

My MINI is home!!! I picked up my Number 7 yersterday, but have only put 14 miles on him!! It has been raining miserably today, and I refuse to have my first outing in this cruddy weather. So I have been spot detailing all the crap the dealer missed and figuring out all the doohickys, wingdings and other features on the car. What is that little light (is it a light?) on the dashboard near the windscreen? I just noticed it now, because it was covered by the MSRP sticker my MA chucked on the dash.
Now comes the racing stripes and the 3M BodyGard clear 'bra'. As soon as its dry, he's gonnas get washed and waxed (I have converted from Griots-for my Hondas- to the NACarCare kit I found on this site- Klasse and P21S products).

Of course I'm still waiting for my goody bag. And I am a little miffed my MA made me pay for the stuffed bulldog for my son- the bulldog was promptly named Ice Cream by my kid. And it took me hours to figure out that with the brown and white fur and pink tongue, it does kind of have a Neapolitan ice cream look to it!

Even though I drove home carefully I could feel that this MINI wants to go fast...real fast.

Number 7 is a BRG/W MC with CVT, 3 pkgs, rain sensor, chrome bumper inserts, panther leatherette, anthracite- and coming soon: OEM seat covers, Drivers edge stripes, and whatever I get myself for Xmas.

Okay, so I just checked to OL (don't know why I really bother, but I'm glad I did this time), and it's showing my car being at the VPC. Seems like a pretty quick update for the OL...it's only 2-3 days behind. But the really interesting thing is that it's estimating a delivery date of 11/16/03. That's tomorrow (well, technicall today, but I haven't slept yet, so it doesn't count). Now I know the OL is usually BS, but I'd really like to believe it this time. It'd be pretty cool to pick up my car early this week.

I do have to say this for the Owners Lounge... my MINI was at the dealer the day before my Est Delivery Date. That was pretty accurate. Do you know for sure that your car isn't at the dealership? Did it come in late Saturday (yesterday)? Mine arrived at my dealer on a Tuesday night about 6:00pm. They could clean it up and have it ready for you Monday, if it's there! Unless you are getting allot of after factory accessories added by the dealer, it doesn't take long for them to make ready the cars.

If you dealer is closed on Sundays and you live close to it, I have only 2 words to say " Spy Mission " ! I'd drive over and see if the car is sitting on the lot. You know the VIN so the window sticker will say if it's yours! Take a camera to take Spy Shots !

** Here are the two weather sites' maps. I found these link maps will update as the ships report to the weather sites' master maps! **

I can't belive I am up at this ungodly hour. I am sitting here wrapped in a blanket waiting for the coffee to brew. Anyway, OL finally has us at VPC, but no estimated delivery date is posted (Gary arrived at Port Hueneme on 11/4). Where do I find this info?

Spoke to MA yesterday, re: making sure financing was in order, which it wasn't. She now has everything ready for us. MA keeps stating that Gary will be here in a couple of days, but she does not have a trucking date. Of course, she stated this on Friday. Since we have to pick him up by appointment only, we will have to wait until next Saturday to pick him up if he gets in this week. I have been a pretty patient person during this whole process. I am really starting to get excited now. Luckily this next week I will be real busy at work (and I will have a new boss on Monday, Arnold Schwarzenegger). I also am getting our truck ready to be kicked out of its warm cozy garage. I hate parking it outside, but even in a three-car garage it will be a little cramped for two vehicles, and without saying it outloud, in front of the truck, Gary will be our priority and baby for awhile.

Anyone else on the Otello hear about a pick up date yet? Love to hear such good news from the rest of you. Sounds like the 04 Coopers are all almost problem free.

Well the coffee is ready and the Sunday papers have arrived. Have a great week and hope to report back with some pictures soon. Camera is ready. Ciao

Toones -

Finially MINIs arriving in Calif ! ! ! I now know why the people in Calif and the northwest are so easy going. You have to be! It takes everything an extra week to get to you. I guess unless it's coming off the Pacific! You have remarkable patience! I know your MINI was built the week after mine and I got to pick Mr Bridger up on 11-4. The wait for the west coast is rough! It's easily an extra 2-3 weeks over us here in the south!

On the Owner's Lounge where it shows the order detail, there came a day when I could see that there was a EDD date. It was where the old Est Production Date had been. One day it showed my 10-03-03 production week date and the next it showed a 10-29-03 date. Has your date changed there?

Other than that, the MA/saleswoman is the best source of information. My salesman acted (or maybe honestly was) surprised that they had 2 trucks come in on the same day, one about 9AM and one at about 6PM. He may have known it was released from the VPC and assigned to a truck but not sure when the truck would arrive.

Either way, if Gary gets to the dealer any day this coming week, they should be able to clean him up and tint any windows you want, etc... by Saturday when you can pick him up! (There were 4 MINIs on the same PM truck as my MINI and they were picked up the next day. Spoonleg's MINI arrived on a AM truck and she picked him up later that same afternoon)

and you are so correct. Don't tell the truck he is 2nd!
Just say he is your favorite large vehicle!

By the way, you can check out my full install ordeal here: Boost Gauge wiring I can't stress enough how much a pain in the a$$ this install was for seemingly "one little gauge". It took me a few hours total.

Well, they are closed on Sunday, and the dealer is in Annapolis and I'm in Baltimore. It's not TOO long a drive, but I don't think it's quite worth driving all the way down there for a spy mission. I'll wait and call them tomorrow. I still think it seems a little unlikely that it would be there already since it was just discharged from the Jingu Maru on Thursday. But then...if it is, WOOHOO!!!

Hey Kids!

Here are few pics of my one-day-old MCS. Long story short, the dealer was great, no initial problems (knock on whatever), am in love!

Looks good countrym. Let's see, anthracite trim, space cloth, 16" wheels, yep, put a blue roof on it and it looks just like mine!

Tomorrow is shaping a to be a terrible weather day, with severe weather forecast for the afternoon. What a day to buy a car.

Good Morning Folks,

And welcome to another wonderful work week !!

First of all, Congrats Country !! Excellent looking monster you have there. Nice color choice (although I may be a bit biased)

Time for first impressions (I'm sorry, but I don't do impressions):

1. Blue Brummie drives like a dream. Never had a car that reacts quite like this, so this is a brave new world for me.

2. Cruising home from the dealership with "Comfortably numb" roaring through the car was AWESOME !!!

3. Keeping it under 4500 RPM is a beeatch !!

4. Everything on BB has worked as it should, though I haven't messed with all the little bells and whistles yet.

5. Minor complaints thus far
-- The fan is a bit loud (I'll just have to drown it out with some supercharger music)

-- Has anyone noticed that the cup holders are useless ( Just kidding )

-- The H/K system is awesome. The sound is really balanced. The only gripe I've got is that the volume is a bit low. It's great for windows-up driving, but I think it may be a bit on the low side for windows-down, open air highway driving. We'll see how it goes. Also, before I bother my excellent sales guy at MINI of Peabody, can anyone tell me if the speed sensitive volume control is real? I can't seem to make it work....

All in all, I'm really enjoying BB. 300 miles of driving this past weekend and she's doing great. Pics to follow soon (by the way, can someone lead me to a thread on how to add pics, thanks !!).

More thoughts/comments to follow

BB-

PS: The ticking in my head caused by waiting for delivery has now been replaced by the ticking casued by waiting for the breakin period to end - Tick..... Tick..... Tick.....
