Jet - here is my timeline for the October deliveries. I thought you may be inerested in that 9/12 production date. That date is a Friday, and they always use Friday - end of week, to estimate completion. Notice it was released for transit one day earlier. BTW, mine is MC and yours is MCS, but therwise note the similarities You have good taste!.

"On the Tai Shan!!! . Just got the info at the wlna site. Here is my timeline from day of purchase to Southampton and Tai Shan.

Ahoy, Mates, Let's Sail"

Cosquilla,

There aren't too many of us Black/White MINIs out there. Even though its going to take twice the effort to keep em' sparkling clean, it will be well worth it!... I think they look absolutely awesome when clean! I am going to have to wait a while longer than you to enjoy my MINI cuz I live on the West Coast. Be sure to post some pics of your MINI to help me pass the time!

I am afraid that I might have to leave you. My car is at the terminal and booked on the Tai Shan for arrival in NY on the 29th of September. I hope the rest of you get yours over a month early like it appears that I will.

All the best.

Hey Turkish I feel your "Code 111" pain. I thought for sure since I was good and did not call MINIUSA for a week that I would be bumped up a bit. Oh well, what can you do. Just remember there are a few us feeling the same pain.

Pebbles and Ragdollcatz love the pics of your feline family members. Have two cats, Polly (black and white female Persian) and Lucky (a pure black shorthair) and a beautiful Yellow Lab (my husbands guide dog) named Nieman. In fact we will be modifying the back seat of the Mini to accommodate Nieman. We are also tinting the back three windows so he will be more comfortable during our hot summers. It will be so much easier for Nieman to hop into the back of the Mini instead of jumping in the back seat of our truck. He is going to love it. And since Nieman's nickname is Nini we are thinking of these personalized plates: NiniMini. With all of the kids out of the house now, the animals are our babies. Drives the kids crazy when I ask them if they want to say hi to their four-legged brother.

Well enough of the pet distraction. Have to think of something else until my next Code change. Like ordering more stuff for Gary. We have ordered a car cover, and dash cover so far. Husband wants a Mini garage stool and a Mini hat. Have to get those ordered soon.

Hope you all have a great week. Chow for now.

Toonses- I love your MINI's name- Gary. SO cool. It just seems to fit.

Ragdollcatz and Pebbles- I LOVE CATS!! And yours are precious! My grandparents have a ragdoll- cleverly named RAGGINS. She is the most spoiled cat you will ever meet, along with her shitzu sister, MUFFY. You can tell by the names that these are two VERY spoiled pets.

My whole life we've always owned cats, mostly loveable strays and SPCA finds. But recently I have fallen in love with the Chartreux breed, and I simply MUST have one! But they are so rare, AND so expensive. I'm willing to pay the price for one, I guess, but I don't plan on breeding or showing- I just want a beautiful, loveable pet! Plus there aren't any breeders in texas that I know of, so I might have to motor over to Cali or Florida to get one! I'm still on the lookout.

I saw a precious little baby out in the neighborhood today, she had caught herself a dragon fly and was playing contentedly in the middle of the road! I drove up and was gonna get out to pick her up, but she had tags, so I know she had a home. Plus she ran away when I got out of my car, abandoning her toy!

Oh I just LOOOOOVE kitties!!! One day I will be that 80 year old hermit lady with 50 cats that all of the neighborhood kids are afraid of!

Ok funny story-

I had some dental work done today and got all shot up with novacaine or whatever they use to numb you these days. And I mean, they got me good. I probably had 5 different shots all over my mouth.

So I come home and it's been like two hours but I'm still numb, tongue all floppy and everything. Even my EARS are numb. But I figure I might be able to swallow so that I can take my medicine.

So I stick the pill towards the back of my mouth (less tongue maneuvering required) and pour some water in (since I can't sip). Well I guess I poured more water than I thought I did, because when I closed my mouth to swallow it was totally full. So when I tried to swallow, all of this water came shooting out of my NOSE!! UGH!

Luckily I didn't feel it! But I still have a runny Ozarka nose!

Spoonleg, I was on my way to becoming that "old lady with 50 cats." Due to my daughters loving natural, she kept finding stray cats and bringing them home (of course she was in college and would bring them home to good old mom and dad to take care of). At one point we had eight cats. One male and seven females, all spayed and neutered of course, and vaccinated and undergoing some type of medical treatment. Unfortunately, two of the strays became sick with feline leukemia and passed away (even after they tested negative). It was terrible and broke all of our hearts. My husband, who is highly allergic to cats (and who is still taking medication so that we can keep our two remaining cats) couldn't handle it anymore so we found homes for most of the cats (thank goodness for my generous friends). When our daughter graduated from college she took the rest leaving us with our original two cats, who are loving life once again, since they are now the queen bees. When we had the "herd" our poor dog was outnumbered. Whenever he would lay down the cats would all try to lay next to him since he is so soft and warm. It was pretty funny to see this sleeping dog completely surrounded by cats.

Yes cats are wonderful animals. I love all animals, but there is something about an independent cat. They give you hours of entertainment and lots of love. By the way the dog is a sweety as well. He works hard all day for my husband and than comes home and gets pampered.

This is starting to sound like an animal club, so I will stop.

We love the name Gary for our car, you know Gary Cooper. It's funny we don't have a name for our truck, so I better think of something that goes with Tundra. Ha Ha

Have a great day.

I hear yah on the dental work. I had some done today, too--way too many shots (and I don't handle lidocaine/carbocaine well, anyway) and I wasn't becoming numb. So the doc came in and took over. When HE was done I couldn't feel my eye....very strange. Then, to top it off, he decided to do more work than planned, and when they took the awful dam thing out my jaw locked up and I couldn't open my mouth for about 20 minuts. Got a nice jaw massage out of it, though--wonder what he'll charge for that?

My dentist is a wonderful fellow, but....Why is it, as the years go by and the technology improves, that the experience worsens?

Lol....

Chartreux?? What is a Chartreux? Sounds fascinating--I'd love to learn more.

Something about cars, gotta mention cars.... Oh, no! Is there room for the ragdoll-sized cat carrier in the car? Lol....

Well while we are on the subject of pets, we have a cat that we have long suspected of having a lot of ragdoll blood. She was adopted as a stray many years ago. This pictures you have posted prompted my wife to go online and research the breed. It turns out Camelia has all the traits, right down to the blue eyes and limber body. She is a senior kitty who is definitely the queen of the house. Camelia co-exists with our SPCA dog, Minnie Moon. (note the obligatory Minnie content ) Minnie is definitely supercharged judging by the way she hauls me around the 3 mile Memorial Park loop every morning.

Thank you very much - everyone - for sharing your pet stories! It was refreshing to read about pets during our 8 week wait! I've found it's my pets, my family, my neighbors, etc... that make it worth it for me to go to work each day and take what they shell out. Pets compliment our lives!

Toones - I love it, your MINI Cooper is named Gary Cooper !

and Haleboy and jjblount - I am happy for you two getting your MINIs early! we'll miss you here in the club! and jet, I guess that goes for you too if you're getting your MINI in October. If it slips back to Nov - come back!!

and Ryan - Thanks for posting the photo of Ragdollcatz's kitty! She's lovely!

chartreux are beautiful cats with blue/grey toned coats that are very thick like wool. they usually have copper or orange eyes. they are medium to larger sized cats. what they are most known for is their personalities, they are distinctly dog-like. they will greet their owners at the door when coming home from work, follow you around the house, and cuddle in your lap. they can even be trained to take walks outside on a leash!

i think that these cats are simply beautiful!! and i am intrigued at the thought of having a cat who actually ADMITS that he/she loves being petted or held... most cats love it but are too independent or stubborn to let you know it. we even had a cat once who would try not to pur !! i don't think i will be walking my cat on a leash anytime soon, but it always breaks my heart when my pets refuse to cuddle with me or let me love on them! i worship the ground my cats walk on, yet they turn their noses up at me! they know the truth- that THEY are MY masters, and I'm just the lowly human who feeds them.

Well now that you've mentioned Deal's Gap! I have thought of going to it. April 30th - May 2nd. My only problem is that coming from Austin, Texas I will have to drive for like 2 days to get there and 2 days back. My worry is that I will get tired and have no place to pull over because I'd have to make hotel reservations in advance for the cities I plan to stay in. I could extend the drive and make it 3 days there and 3 days back, perhaps spending a night in Atlanta and then New Orleans and then home.

We choose our vacation time at wprk in January of each year so I have until then to decide. I could take a week plus a couple extra days and have enough time to get there and back and rest a couple days.

Are you a Metrosexual kinda guy? Saw a version of this article in our local paper, and I loved the MINI reference.

Gender Blending
How to market to men, women, and those in between.
By Thomas Mucha, August 28, 2003

If sex sells, then so does metrosex. This summer's hottest marketing buzzword, "metrosexual" defines any urban, well-educated, affluent man who is in touch with his femininity. Your average metrosexual wears Bruno Magli, reads Details magazine, uses hair care products -- and is straight as an arrow. "Metrosexuals are finding the courage to enter the female domain without fear of losing their status as 'real' men," explains Marian Salzman, chief strategy officer at Euro RSCG Worldwide, a communications firm that just released a voluminous marketing study on the trend. The implications are huge, although no one can assess the nascent market's value. "There is room for a metrosexual voice in every [product] classification pitching men under 50," Salzman claims.

The signs are everywhere. Condé Nast Publications is launching a shopping magazine for men. Axe deodorant body spray, which is essentially male perfume disguised as deodorant, now rivals über-masculine Old Spice in market share. A variety of products and trends -- Diesel Jeans, Mini Cooper, Vespa, even yoga and wine bars -- thrive on the refined tastes and habits of metrosexuals.

Jet - awesome, can't think of a better word! U are so right about keeping up with cleaning and polishing that marvelous black surface.

I intend to go the Zaino route to maintain the polish. I have ordered their kit, and I emailed Mr. Z for advice. He told me to intercept the car at delivery before the dealer washes or waxes - swirls from dirty rags and blemishes will result. I will check it out with the MA. (May even furnish them Zaino and soft cloth.)

I am not a cleaning freak, but this time I really have a special toy to protect and gloat over.

Wishing you good speed on your release, voyage, and delivery to home.

Cosquilla (John)

I'll also be using Zaino paint products on MM2. I had my MA write in HUGE letters on my folder to NOT TOUCH THE PAINT, no wash, no wax! So here's another shot, with Mr.Motor in it (Koolmini took this shot during one of our cruise stops)

I heard awhile back that some self-proclaimed metrosexuals include Brad Pitt and Tiki Barber. Very strange, indeed...

I'm ashamed to say that I have no self control, and called them. I promised myself I wouldn't until Wednesday. But it was worth it, she told me production started today!!

But still no VIN

So, since they couldn't give me a more definite time frame for VIN to be expected, I will probably be bugging them more often. Next estimated call 866ASKMINI date: 9/19 (Fri). HA! Post THAT on MINIUSA, punks!

BTW- MINIUSA is so uber worthless. Still says ON ORDER. Ugh!!
