R50/53 Can't Wait 4 November Club - Who's with me?
Good Morning Everyone - It's good to be back!
My only real news is I'm at 112!
So my order is set in stone and my Production week is week 40 - 10-3-03 !
Woo Hoo !
The MCO system backs up each morning at 2am, the last back up before the failure was 2am on 9-10-03. So all our posts from that point until just this morning are gone. For our club it was like a whole page of posts. I hope we didn't loose a new member asking to join! If memory serves me (Iron Chef)... Haleboy picked up his MINI because he found exactly what he had ordered on the dealer's lot. He's our first graduate!
Anyway, The site's partially working and I'm happy to see it!!

Now that I'm at 112 I can enjoy other people's beautiful MINIs! Nothing in the back of my mind saying "you could change your order if you want to".

Congrats Pebbles on moving on to 112. I know what you mean about examining every option and saying to yourself, I could do that. I spent the afternoon hunting for PS pics to convince myself that it's still the right choice. I did make a couple of changes this week starting with a switch from silver to anthracite. The silver seemed a little on the bright side for the dash. I also dropped the premium package but turned around and added back the sunroof and multi-function steering wheel. The net effect was to drop the auto a/c and trip computer. This only saved $100 but I had read that the auto a/c might be a bit of a pain, needing fussy adjustments to do what you want it to. Who know? Anyway I'll be glad when I'm 112 so I can quit worrying about this stuff.
Was week 40 an improvement for you? I was hoping to pick up a week along the way myself. Every little bit helps.

ps- thanks for the stats BJ. Lots of silver wheels- what gives? maybe people aren't so keen on cleaning their wheels everyday!!
I am going to TRY to keep my MINIs wheels clean, but you know how that goes.
CLEAN CAR= NEW CONCEPT FOR DEJA

here's what I think are the correct Production Status:
Status 112: Order accepted at Oxford
Jet – 9/26
lo_mini - 9/26
mbur1024 – 9/26
MNESIAC – 9/26
spoonleg – 9/26
Pebbles – 10/3
Status 111: Order sent to Oxford
mcs22004 - 10/3
Ryephile - 10/3
MR.MINI – 10/10
Toonses – 10/10
Turkish – 10/10
Denisea – 10/17
Traveler – 10/17
--->spoonleg; about the spec Pebbles posted above, they are rather typical from my experience with the April, October, and now November clubs. Silver wheels and White tops are common, as are sunroofs and Xenons and leatherette. Anthracite I think is a relatively new majority, and it is beautifully dark and metallic. What I'm VERY surprized to NOT see is any Dark Silver!

Cheers,
Ryan

wow ryan, i had no idea about the silver wheels/white top. if it weren't for how cool i think the white wheels look, i probably would have gone with black top!
good call on the DS, too. i wonder why IB/CR are the dominating colors in our club?? I, too, thought that DS was supposed to be the most popular color? Maybe the favoritism is wearing off, or maybe our club is just too unique! What has been your experience with april/oct clubs as far as DS?

April Club colors:
Dark Silver - 10
Chili Red - 9
Pure Silver - 6
Jet Black - 6
Indi Blue - 6
Electric Blue - 4
Liquid Yellow - 3
British Racing Green - 3
Velvet Red - 3
Pepper White - 1
October Club colors:
Chili Red - 11
Dark Silver - 10
Indi Blue – 8
Pepper White – 7
British Racing Green – 3
Electric Blue – 3
Jet Black – 2
Pure Silver – 1
Liquid Yellow - 1
Velvet Red – 1
November Club colors:
Indi Blue – 7
Chili Red – 6
British Racing Green – 5
Electric Blue – 3
Jet Black – 2
Pure Silver – 2
So, as you can see, Indi Blue is gaining in popularity, while Dark Silver appears to be waning. Chili Red is always popular, while BRG and Electric blue are consistently mid-field.

Hi spoonleg - missed you much and was really happy to see you are at 112 also! The man I talked to at ASKMINI said first they compile a production list for all the parts needed for our cars based on the options, etc... we've ordered. Then it all starts. He said the VIN number would show up on MINIUSA site (unlike the status codes). I'm going to check it every day! and twice each night.
Traveler - I don't want to say my salesman is not johnny on the spot with giving me information, but he never called me to tell me he'd put my order in. I was seeing the other Nov Club members saying that they were called with their production numbers and Est Dates going well into Oct and I CALLED HIM and asked if my car was ordered yet. He then said "Yes it has, let me get your file so you can have your production number. it's xxxxxxx and let me look one second... ok right now your Est date production date is 10-3-03." ** So how many weeks did he know that? And did it start out being 10-10-03 and then was moved back? I don't know. All I do know is that I went from 111 to 112 within a week of getting the production number so I KNOW my order was in the works long before I knew it. He must not call anyone with status or production codes. You'd think he could make 7 phone calls each week (you know they don't get allocated more than 30 MINIs each month) He must only call them when their car is coming in and they can pick it up. I guess in the end it made my car's production seem to be flying along, to one Friday be at 111 and the next Friday be at 112 ! and in 3 weeks she'll be built and in line for the trip to the cruise ship!
About the colors : I have to admit the Dark Silver and Electric Blue are the cars that I've seen around Austin the most. There are a several with white roofs and a couple with black. They are popular because they are the 2 colors that are available only on the MCS.
And I love the White wheels with the White roof.
I'm also thinking of getting either Kleen Wheels Brake covers or getting some Low-Dusty brake pads - like EBC Green Stuff. My friend says buy "Simple Green" and the white wheels clean up really easy. so at first, I'm going to use the Simple Green and see how it goes. Then when I need new brake pads I'll replace them with the Low-Dust pads!

It's better to use your car shampoo to wash the wheels; using aggressive cleaners have a tendency to etch and harm your wheels' delicate finish. (most visible with white wheels) If you have heavy soil, the Simple Green is about as nice as it gets. White wheels are a total pain to keep clean
which is why low-dust brake pads are all but mandatory. I liked the EBC Green stuff pads on Mr.Motor, and the only reason I might not get them again is if I do a Stage1 brake kit from Webb Motorsports (which uses light duty race pads).
Cheers!

OK, so it's Simple Green when it's really dirty and normal car shampoo for normal every day dust - - - notice I said EVERY DAY !
and let me guess, when you call and ask they'll not only say you are at 112 but give you a VIN number, which will prove you were at 112 for a few days! I love seeing things that really don't change anything in the world - other than it raises my blood pressure.

no problem lo_mini, I can handle it
--->Pebbles; when you get your VIN, that means you're at Status 150!
MINI only assigns the VIN# after the car is immediately in the que on the production line.
off I go to the Battle of the Brits car show (I'm already late, doh). Maybe I'll post some pics later.
Cheers,
Ryan

Thanks Ryan for helping with what the Status codes mean!
Now I'll wait for the 150 !
Wait, Wait, Wait... Don't we love to Wait?
NO ! !
and Lo-Mini - Congratulations on being our first Dark Silver MCS! Our Nov club was in need of one and you are it! It is the color that says "I'm a MCS and can run circles around you" and yes, I'm the "happy bright color" type MINI owner, but that type car is not for everyone! That is what makes MINI so special. We each personalize our car such that it is "beauty in the eyes of the beholder (or owner) ".
and may I say your signature looks fantastic.... Those 16" stock X-Lites look really good! boy, Am I glad I'm at 112 and can't change my order!! I can admire all the lovely MINIs with a calm heart, knowing my Madeline will show up Red and White just as I want her to be!
Ryan calling the DS Stealthy - will be to your advantage!
Lets bet that a year from now, I'll have at least 2 more speeding tickets than you will!!
On a Austin, Texas note : We got rain here and our temperature dropped 15 points! It's 68 here right now and I have my windows open! It's so beautiful! Everything clean for the first time in weeks. It smells so good!
Have a great Sunday everyone!

Oh I wish that cool weather would blow on through to Houston. It's pushing 90 here. For that matter I wish I was code 112 as well. I'm so jealous! (Hmm... we need a green emoticon)
As to color. DS was definitely on my list, but I think CR/W is the classic Mini combination. I would go for the red myself but I have had 4 red cars since 1990, the most recent being an 01 Miata. Ultimately the PS caught my eye on the lot. The variety is definitely part of what makes it fun.
I spent a lot of time browsing the Bridger.US archives while MCO was down. I like the rear fog light to brake light conversion. I also love the look of the aero kit grill on the standard front bumper. A bit of a hassle making it fit, but the results are nice.
I guess I'm rambling on here but it's too hot to go out so what the heck. One final question. I've been reading about the dealer programming for things like DRL's and one sided parking lights. Is this a freebie for the first setup or do they charge for this?

I don't know what DRLs are....
but my friend James here in Austin just love the 1 sided parking lights. He saw them being used while he was on vacation in England some years ago and when he got his MINI he was thrilled that it would do the same.
Seems you can set the car for either the left or right side running lights to stay on, even when the car is turned off. James said he saw it allot on narrow streets where everyone has to parallel park. He did say he thought it odd that the lights that were used most often were on the curb side of the car not the street side.
And Traveler - just wait a minute and you'll have our cold front in your back yard!!!
We've now hit a heatwave and it's 72 outside

Oh, ok DRL - As I understand it, The car comes with the "Default" programming. However, if you prefer to customize your programming the dealer can do it ONE time for free. After that, you have to pay them to have it changed.
I am hoping the DRL are part of the Default settings
- yes, so I'm more visible for the cops to chase down

Your MA should give you a list of what you want your programmable options to be. If not, you need to YELL AT THEM!

and yes, I thought Ryan's Stealthy was cool ! I also liked his "Darth Vader " about Black/Black MINIs! He's very creative!
and thanks for the tip about going to toy stores like KB to find MINIs. I have a 1:18 scale Chili Red/White MC that I bought over the internet several months ago, but I wouldn't mind having another, perhaps something much smaller! I'll have to go by KB and ToysRus.
