For clarity, this refers to the iTunes app, not the MINI head unit software. (I won't even mention Map data update.)

To be VERY clear, both the MINI Connected App from the iTunes Store AND the MINI head unit software have updates. I didn't get factory NAV so I don't keep up with updates for that (I have lifetime maps and traffic on my Garmin 3790 so why pay for the factory nav?).

The MINI Head unit update is pretty easy and the step by step directions on the MINI Connected website are reasonably clear. Just have a windows formatted thumb drive for the firmware file.

One thing that I'm interested in seeing in the new MINI Connected App (iTunes Store) is the ability to see your calendar events and call numbers associated with the event. The other updates appear to be pretty cool but I'm not sure that I'll use them.

Yes, the new Calendar functionality in this app update does look intriguing. I'm looking forward to checking that out.

For some reason the head unit update (from April?) didn't work for me and a few other people in this thread. My head unit detects the update on the flash drive but says something about the version not being appropriate (I forget the exact message).

If I can remember I'll ask the service department about it next time I'm at the dealer.

I just emailed one of the service guys at the local dealer to see what he can tell me. I'm assuming you and the folks that had the issue with the update compared software versions and you aren't trying to update to what you already have? Mine is a 2012 R55 with a Sep 2011 build date so there was no doubt that the April update was newer than what it had on it.

Now it'll be even more interesting to see if there are any options in the module coding that we can turn on with these updates.

Looks like that update has been there awhile. The accompanying PDF is dated 4/2012.

That's correct. The software update for the headunit came out in April. For those unsure about it, I would recommend comparing software version numbers before attempting the upgrade. One of the improvements specifically mentioned deals with email so I suspect this is something that's coming along for us. Once I get the new App on my phone this afternoon (I leave work in two hours), I'll update the App and see what else it gives me.

Text and Calendar works fine. I like that they have condensed the mini connected app so you don't have to toggle between different apps within the app. I noticed with the text messages it only notifies and display a text that comes through while your driving. It doesn't show old read messages. It seems if you have ios 6 beta messages and calendar work just fine. I have yet to see email come thru.

And for those of you who don't mind jailbreaking your iphone check this thread.

I have actually read this whole thread from 1-15pages.

Here is my question:
Ordering a 2013 with mini connected
Anyone think its possible to update from Mini Connected to Nav via a software update? Seems like its all the same system, but its all on what software is loaded.

From what we learned from MINI, the hardware is different and a software upgrade will not allow Navigation. Go ahead and order the Nav, you'll like it and it's only money! In the MINI world, upgradE after the fact are either expensive, impossible or both.

Thanks Gene

The problem is that the Nav puts me over budget, connected is for sure but the Nav just nudges me over enough. Also with smart phones and all, its hard to justify.

Connected version update

Just can back from the dealer today - have an early 2011 MCS HB with Connected (no Nav) and these versions:
Multimedia: MX-002.007.003
Telephone: TX-002.007.003

I asked that they try to do the update to these:
MX-3.5.4, TX-3.5.4
TX-2.6.4

Long story short - even called MINI C/S - basically the version of Connected that my car came with cannot be update. Not sure if it is that the actual hardware will not take it or if it is that the software version does not allow it...

Has anyone successfully updated an early build Connected to the latest version?

Minimalism Analyzer "gear change" not working?

Hey everyone! I'm new to both my mini and this forum! I've been playing with the minimalism Analyzer and I can't seem to get the gear shift starts to add to my driving. I can't see the "suggested time to change gears" either.
Of course I have a manual transmission, any thoughts?

Thanks!!

Update of MINI Connected

And was contacted by MINI USA C/S today - was informed that my car can not be updated.

For reference, my early MY 2011 build (11/10) is running -
Multimedia: MX-002.007.003
Telephone: TX-002.007.003
...and apparently will be running those versions long after I have this vehicle. The annoying thing is that the updated software version is stated to specifically address connectivity issues with HTC phones (which I have - both that brand of phone and some connectivity issues) and improves connectivity with ipods (which I also use specifically for the MINI Connected app).
Combined this disappointment with the VERY annoying speedometer rattle when slowing to a stop (which can not be corrected yet, also confirmed today with the MINI USA C/S Rep) and I am swinging to the side of NOT being satisfied with my MINI....

S Coupe

I have my IPhone 3S with the lastest updated software with Mini Connected app loaded and running, all conneced using the Y adapter. All app's features works great. Mission Control, Dynamic Music and all the others, event Pandora, but you don't need mini app running for that. Just the Pandora app running. It will pop up on screen. This might have been said already, but in order for the Mini Connect app to work, it needs to be running and left alone. Once you switch to another app, it automatically turns off and will not come back on until you activiated it again.

Does anybody know how to modify the default Facebook link on a status update via MINI Connected? When I post a new update it goes out with a link to MINISpace.com. I'd like a plain, simple and traditional Facebook update without any links in it, if possible. The same way that tweets get pushed out.

Please advise.
Thanks!

Hey BChili,

I have those two issues. MX/TX 002.007.003 and I have a rattle behind speedo when I got to a stop. Please let me know if anything gets resolved for you as I would like to get them fixed. Sounds like the software update will never happen but the rattle is annoying. Thanks.
