Navigation & Audio Official MINI Connected Thread
I put my JCW away for the winter, but I wanted to see this new update. I did not drive the car, but it looks like the new update gives you a digital engine temp gauge. It also gives you the choice of either engine rpm or engine torque in a gauge. It also lets you customize mission control. You can choose to have up to 3 different options of it play. For instance you can have it tell you vital engine things, climate control things and entertainment things. you can mix and match or have all three.
Now the bad part. It seems like you can either have the gauges and mission control or the infotainment like twitter and facebook. You can not do both. You must unplug the iphone and change it in the app, then plug it back in. For example when you are in the gauges you do not have the option for facebook.

Four easy steps:
1: Find place you want to go to.

2: Click on More > Send

3: Select Car under "Send to:", then select MINI for the Make and enter you MINI connected account name, Click Send.

4: Launch iPhone App, and select Google Send To Car in the Mini connected portion of you car system.
Hope that helps

Question? If you create a bookmark or favorite in the iPhone google map app, will the mini app pull the address from your favorite list in the map app or do you have to send to car from a computer?
When you plug your phone into the MINI it will say your nick name on the connection screen, or you could go to the information tab and click settings and at the bottom it will say "Log [Your Nick Name] out".
So far I've only been able to get it to work from a computer. The iPhone map app doesn't have a way to send-to-car (at least that I know of), and the MINI app won't pull up your favorites.
Ok so here we are in December 2011 with an iPhone 5 looming in the coming months. Is there official word on and iPhone snap in cradle that fits the arm rest that I was forced to buy in order to have Connect for an iPhone 4 that actually works for all Connected features?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. But if you read my post I am asking about the snap-in adapter, not the y cable. Although if the snap in doesn't yet work for everything, I will buy that cable, provided that it works for an iPhone 4. The site lists 3GS as the highest compatible phone. Please let me know if anyone is using it with a 4 with success. I'm talking about the cable that Achilles Honor is recommending. But the reason I want the snap in is that I don't want my phone dangling there with cords. I want it hidden in the arm rest. And I am surprised, maybe I shouldn't be, but when you order a car with connected, they don't ship it with a way to connect, you still have to purchase the y cable separately??
So. My MA called me today to tell me that the iPhone 4 snap in cradle is now available and if I wanted to order it. YES!!!!
While I had him on the phone I asked and yes the Y cable does come with the car. But....you all probably knew that
But thank Achilles for the recommendations.

Last I heard they have a snap in adaptor, but they still do not have one that works with all the connect functions. Maybe now that it works with they Y cable it also works with the snap in. Last I heard the snap in did not let you see the album covers or let you watch video.

All good questions. I'll get a part number as soon as I can get it to you. I'll also ask about price. I wasn't concerned with that and just said order it. I'll try to post all the info for you tomorrow.
Here's how you do it:

1) Click on the "MINI apps" tab at the bottom of the main screen.

2) Click on the MINI car icon at the top right of this screen. Also notice on this screen how the web radio option has it's small icon on the right with a line through it while send to car doesn't, this indicates that web radio isn't available under the current profile while send to car is, that's because I have driving excitement off.

3) Tap on "Driving Profile" to change it.

4) Select "MINIMALISM & Infotainment" to enable send to car. When you go back to the previous screen you should see send to cars icon on the right does not have a line through it.

Here's a question for you all who have connected already. I know there are two ways to listen to music. Plugged in and over Bluetooth. Of course my Bluetooth will be connected always for phone calls. But can two Bluetooth devices be connected at one time? For example if the only thing my personal phone is connected for is the phone, can, say, a passenger connect another Bluetooth device to stream music while I am connected too? Or would they always need to plug into auxiliary jack?
To the best of my knowledge, you can't stream music via BT. The device must be connected through the arm rest or via the USB/Aux Jack using the MINI cable or through the aux jack.
I haven't tried two BT devices but I will give it a go next week when I've got my MINI back.

You can stream music via bluetooth, just not album covers.
