Hi finally got my hands on a MINI & Mini connect. A couple of questions if you can help,

1. Why does the voice in Mission Control gets cut off half way thru , especially when the voice is about to end his speech with "be mini!" I only hear B!

2. How do I change the Facebook status, I don't want the link to mini space

3. I'm using iPhone iOS 6 , how do I get the office functions enabled? I don't see such options.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Golgotha,
in my personal experience:

1. No, I just got my new 2013 MCS with MINI Connected a few weeks ago and haven't experienced that issue with Mission Control. Voice recordings play all the way, really cool actually. Love it when the car talks to me.

2. I asked the same question before, but no one answered to me. That's hardcoded in the app itself and I don't think it's possible at this time, lame, I know. You can personalize tweets and Foursquare check-ins, but not delete the MINI Space link in Facebook updates. They should fix that in a next version. The North American International Auto Show is happening now as I write this and MINI didn't bring anything exciting, no MINI Connected update, just the MINI Paceman which everyone already knew of from other events and in the news.

3. Regardless of iPhone version or iOS version, the MINI Connected app is the same version for everybody now. Your office functions are available with your iPhone synced via bluetooth. I can read my new messages and address book that way. Your calendar is available via MINI Connected with your iPhone plugged in with the Y-Cable (and using the proper adapter for iPhone 5, if that's the case).

Hope this helps.

Thanks William,

I love the Mission Control, I think it adds fun to my drive but for some reasons the sentences are never ever complete...............it always leave me hanging..............

As for the office functions, is there a menu, setting option display in Mini Connect/Visual Boost? My phone is connected via Bluetooth to my MINI, I can access address book, calendar.

Maybe I'm getting it wrong, the message and email functions allow you to read them on the visual boost display right? How does one go about setting that?

Differences from Beta?

So I had a Beta of iOS 6 running on an iPhone 4 and my texts and emails would appear on the screen when they came in. Then I upgraded to an iPhone 5 and for some reason now only my texts show up and no emails. Anyone else have the same problem? Also I know that the plugin feature doesn't seem to work on iPhone 5. Just wondering if anyone has found or seen a solution for this.

The app store is now showing an update to the Mini Connected iPhone app - 2.4.0

"The comprehensive range of functions to be found in MINI Connected has now been enhanced by the latest app update. In addition some technical restrictions have now been removed and stability has been improved.

For more details, please check out: www.MINI.com/Connectivity

NEW: Driving Excitement Analyser
Condition Check, Force Meter and Digital Sport Instruments open up unique opportunities to let you get more enjoyment out of driving your MINI; The Excitement Analyser evaluates how well you are in control of your MINI. You can collect Experience Points (XP) for accelerating, braking, changing gear and steering, then progress from level to level in the individual categories. Condition Check, Force Meter and Digital Sport Instruments are further elements of the Driving Excitement Function and reveal unique opportunities for having even more fun driving a MINI."

On the surface all it seems to have added is scoring for driving aggressively :-) Kinda like a reverse Minimalism Analyser

It also has added Aupeo! streaming radio for those of us in jurisdictions (e.g. Canada) who can't enjoy MOG or Pandora.

Don't use the streaming stuff myself, mobile operators here aren't very generous with their data allowances. At least I can get 40ish DAB stations.

Any improvements on the connectivity stability issue with iPhone 5? I upgraded, will have to test it out tonight.

MINI Connected 2.4.0

So, I was driving around for an hour tonight and the iPhone app sticked together all the time, on an iPhone 5. I don't know if this will continue, hopefully yes, but can't give a definitive answer on the updated app stability. Other people who updated and have an iPhone 5 please share your experiences.

I will report to the other related groups to see if anyone else over there has something to report about MINI Connected 2.4.0.

I can confirm after updating the mini to UPD01006 firmware from the BMW site, and updating the app, my iPhone 5 now works with Mini Connected as it should, very stable, etc

Hi Iconfessimageek,

I haven't been able to upgrade to UPD01006 yet, I copied the folder in a USB stick, plugged in into the center console (unplugging the Y cable), but the car says "No USB device with software connected to the USB audio interface.".

Any hints on how to get this done?

Thanks!

The bin file needs to be in the root of the USB stick

I've spent like three hours already trying to do this, still doesn't work. Bought a new USB, formatted with FAT32, copied all files from the zip that I downloaded to the root of the USB stick, inserted it several times into the console, nada.

:(

Am I doing something wrong?

Don't extract the files, just copy the UPD01006.bin to the USB stick

The original file is: MINI_Connectivity_Update_UPD01006.zip

When I open it, it extracts a folder: UPD01006

Then, inside UPD01006 the .bin files.

What I'm doing is copying all the .bin files inside the USB flash.

What's the correct path here?

Thank you guys,
William.

The downloaded file is UPD01006.bin. Yes, if you open it it will open with Winzip or whatever. If you are on a Mac (like me) it will extract to a folder called UPD01006. Just copy the downloaded folder onto the stick, don't extract it or anything

Thanks Cactusbob!

Hi
unfortunatelly i live in australia and just realzed that due to stuped laws the entire mini onnected is not available here. I just wonder as it"s just a software update or code change if anybody knows more about that.
I've just got my new bayswater since 2 weeks with all the features i think that arerequired like Radio MINI Visual Boost, Mini Navigation and Bluetooth.
So with I have these options installed: 6NF/6ND/6VC/6NE/6FP/6UM
is the mini-connected then just a software update or is there moire involved?
Anybody knows how to get the mini connected working?
It would be so awsom if you guys could give me a hand with some good advice???
Thanks

It worked perfectly, thanks a lot for your advice and patience. It was problem with OS X's Archive, it does not extract the .bin intact but creates a different folder. I did it with Pacifist and could extract the file in the right format. Then the car recognized the USB stick immediately.

Best,

William

Hi Jimmy,
I can see that MINI Connected is not available in your screen, so unfortunately you cannot use it. I didn't know that MINI was releasing localized versions of the entertainment system.

I'm not aware of a hack for it, maybe there is, maybe there isn't any. What I'm seeing is that there's lack of information by the manufacturer when it comes to support, everything is very high level stuff and what you can find here on this forum.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's someone who knows how to unlock it. Keep Googling more and see if other people in your market have gone through this. I've read of situations of people who ordered MINI Connected but not Navigation, and then it's impossible to add that feature. So, sometimes it's a hardware cap, some other times it's software.

Sorry that you're not enjoying it to it's fullest, it's the coolest gadget on the car.

What a strange post William. Of course Mini Connected is not available on his system, that is why he is asking how to enable it. My home screen looked identical to that until I enable Mini Connected, at which point "MINI Services" was replaced with "MINI Connected"
