Is Mini Connect really worth getting the Iphone 5s , or Sticking with Android and bluetooth?
Do the features of Mini Connect warrant getting an Iphone?
I currently connect my Android phone by bluetooth for MOG/ Spotify, but I long for the day when I can avoid fumbling with my phone at stoplights (looking for other music) and wish my phone would integrate like my ipod.
I realize I need a lightning adapter and will not have video.
Is an Iphone really that much better for plugin apps?
What other features of Mini Connect are a must that I am totally missing out on?

Is the better interface for music worth the inconvenience of shifting ecosystems and the additional cost of the MINI Connected system - especially if you're looking at Connected without Nav? Do you already use any of the apps that are Connected compatible?
If I had already invested in the Android escosystem like I have in the Apple ecosystem - I wouldn't spend the money on Connected, and wouldn't shift from Android to Apple... But I have an iPhone already and I like using Connected with my iPhone...
When my Mini Connected ap wasn't working I could still get BT audio to work, so I have a direct comparison. The big difference for me is when you're using a connected ap like Pandora or the Audible ap. it displays cover art on the screen, but more importantly the aps stop laying when the car shuts off, no need to remember to pause the ap on the phone. As for iTunes integration, it's nice seeing track titles and cover art on the screen, but I'd argue that when searching for specific songs or artists using the Mini control **** or the phone itself is a toss up. Both are best done while stopped. Perhaps if your music library was better organized than mine it would be easier to browse.
I can't really say whether the switch would be worth it for you. But, I can say I'm *really* glad my Mini Connected features are working again.

I took delivery of my Mini yesterday and I simply cannot connect to Mini Connect. I receive the "No plugin compatible device connected" message for the Mini Connect. I have the Y adapter I received with my Mini to MiniConnect.
After scouring internet it looks like my issue is with the Apple Lightning 30-Pin to 8-Pin Adapter for iPhone 5. As best I can tell, it does NOT support video thru the adapter. So is anyone actually using an iphone 5 for Mini Connect App with an Iphone 5? (MyBluetooth and Audio works fine, but
From Apple Supportsite: "When you connect an iPod or iPhone with the Lightning to 30-pinAdapter, the iPod or iPhone will be treated like an iPod that does not supportiPod Out. You should still be able to navigate through and play your musicusing the vehicle's built-in user interface.
iPod Out is a vehicle-integration system built in to somecars that allows the user to experience Apple's own user interface by pushingvideo to the car's display screen. It is not supported over a Lightning 30-pinAdapter or Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (0.2m).

All other functions of Connected work with an iPhone5 running IOS6. It's a bit more spotty on an iPhone5 running IOS7
Thanks! I am grasping for answers. According to the Mini Connected App it states that Y cable required is 61 12 2 179623 (or a plug in adapter) not what they provided me 61 12 2 338491. After scouring forums it looks like the one I have is for sound ONLY. I posted photos of where the Y looking one is the connector I need not the rectangular one. I asked my MA for the correct one. For those with working Mini Connected, which cord do you have. Part number is on the Y branch. Much appreciated!
Mini Connect is working for me and I have the "Y" shaped connector 2 179 623-01 i=on the "Y" molded part. I'm using an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 and the apps like Audible still work and non-connected Aps like Downcast also work and even send album art to the display.

The correct Y cable is 30 pin out of the iPod and then splits to USB and audio to connect to the MINI's Aux in and USB ports...
Something has obviously changed in how Apple is handling audio and control signals between IOS6 and 7. It may be related to the new iPod in the car implementation that Apple is rolling out with IOS7... Either way it appears that MINI Connected is overdue for an update - but with the F56 coming sooner rather than later, will MINI be willing to roll any further updates for this edition of Connected?
The dealer agreed that I have the wrong connector. Funny that it came with the 2014 I picked up yesterday. Since the dealer is a two hour drive--they are mailing to me. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks!
I have the iPhone 4S with IOS 7. IOS 6 worked flawlessly. Now navigating my music is a big mess. Songs dont play when chosen. Sometimes I have to completely unhook the iphone connection and plug back in to get music to play. What a mess. I have resorted to listening to CDs. lol.

Minimizer Issues ~ Help!
Here's the part I'm challenged by. With my phone app "MiniConnected" initiallized, I can always get
o Mission Control
o Driving Excitement That PROVIDES ENGINE TEMP
o Web radio
BUT, the Minimalizer has only worked maybe 4 times out of 50 connections.
I know you need to drive a certain period of time, but even on an hour drive it just sits there. Other issues - first time activated, it only shows acceleration and braking (mine is a manual). I have to turn it off, and then back on for "shifting" to show up. Totally frustrating. Dealer has no clue as to steps to fix. Any ideas???
Also, the factory supplied Y-connector is a joke ~ WAYYYY too short, which leads the phone to be disconnected after just a few turns. Purchased a high quality Y connector that's 36" long and was able to conceal it and bring it right up under the arm rest - much more functional and easier to connect to. (And yes, I tried using the factory connection for the above problem to make sure that wasn't the cause).
I have purchased the following Adapter from Radio shack that is able to connect my I phone to my Dealer provided Y-Cable. I swear it works. Now there has been a few times that It did not connect but with a quick unplug and restart of the connected AP then reconnection of cable; all worked as normal:
o Driving Excitement
o MINIMALISM
o Web Radio
and all
$20 alternative til BMW comes out with the needed docking port for IP5.
enjoy...

Rip mog
Ok , now that they have finally announced that MOG will cease April 15, does anyone think that Beats Music service will be mini connected plug in compatible? When an app comes out?
I do love MOG and will hate to lose the streaming music in my mini.

I too am dismayed that MOG will cease - that's the app I rely on for music w/Mini Connected. I'll be looking for another way to stream music through Mini Connected - is Spotify supported?
Hi,
I have a 2013 MCS with MINI connected.
When I try to send a facebook entry or tweet, only I can do the first 10 built-in ready tweets or facebook entries. I cannot send the next ones on the list.
Anyone tried these?
What should I do?

Sorry - never tried the Facebook or Twitter functionality... I rarely have a desire to post anything to either when driving, and when I do it's never been something that can't wait until I've stopped.
My Mini Connect is completely useless with my iphone now, after only having a Mini Countryman for less than a year. It's been 6 months since iphone updated there software. What is taking so for Mini so long to update there software, or are they even trying to?
Mini Connected working well, Iphone 5s, IOS7.0.6
I am not sure why people are having problems.
Love my Mini Connected. Picked up my 2013 Mini Cooper in September.
Iphone 5S works great with the 30pin to Lightning Apple adapter.
I will miss MOG when it finally stops, that is my only complaint as of this day!

The connected app works just fine with the iPhone, and so does audio...
