If you "hold off" on getting MC until there's an iPhone 5 dock, you'll be holding out on getting a MINI until there is one. You can't order MC after you've already got your car.
As for the Y-cable, it's a simple matter of getting the "lightning-to-30 pin" adapter from Apple and using that to plug your iP5 into the Y-cable. You should have no problem using all of MC with that setup.

Thanks, this clears it up:

OK I'm tracking this also, not a big deal for me. Going to probably be enjoying the road to much to care about videos for now

Thanks
I don't even get that. Is everyone else able to use an adapter from the Y connector to lightning adapter?
Make sure you update your connected system though, you can download the updated software from mini.com, put on USB stick, plug into mini, and select the update option.
I have a 2013 GP2, wouldn't it already be updated? It doesn't even charge when I plug it in
I wasn't aware that you could get a GP2 with MINI Connected. That was one of the reasons I didn't get one...
If you suspect a problem with the cables themselves you might also want to try connecting your Y cable to an older iphone/ipod without adapter, or use your lightning adapter with an older iphone/ipod USB cable to make sure they work.
My MCS was a 2013 as well and still needed to be updated for the iphone5 + lightning adapter to work at all.

Sure. Probably like you, I thought it was supposed to be an app within the MINI Connected app, which I never saw. Nope. Just download the Pandora app, open it, and snap in your phone or plug in the Y cable. Then just navigate to radio, then to the screen where you choose FM, AM etc... And magically a Pandora icon will show up on that screen. Just select it and you are off. Very nice interface. You will love it.
Heads up I Phone 5 Users:
I have purchased the following Adapter from Radio shack that is able to connect my I phone to my Dealer provided Y-Cable. I swear it works. Now there has been a few times that It did not connect but with a quick unplug and restart of the connected AP then reconnection of cable; all worked as normal:
o Driving Excitement
o MINIMALISM
o Web Radio
and all:wink:
$20 alternative til BMW comes out with the needed docking port for IP5.
enjoy...

Just figured I'd contribute something to this thread since I check it regularly with hope I will see a note that MINI/BMW finally produced a cable with video out capabilities.
I was recently browsing around checking the status of the iPhone video out and came across and article from a month ago with regard to the video quality of the official Apple Digital AV adapter.
http://www.cultofmac.com/218192/appl...edible-secret/
The interesting part isn't the section where they discuss the digital artifacts. What caught my attention was the part where they said lightning doesn't output a raw HDMI signal. All it does is pipe H.264 video down the ligntining cable and it's up to the receving end to be able to convert it to usable video. It's a good read.
The good news: Video can be sent via the output of the lightning port
The bad news: It's up to MINI/BMW to engineer a male cable that would receive the video from the existing lightning AV cable. This probably is not going to happen. And if it ever did you can be sure that you would be paying a premium. MINI/BMW would essentially be manufacturing (or paying a company to manufacture it) a digital video decoder.

Or better yet, iOS in the car!
