Hi, Brian here. Long time lurker, first time poster. ;-) Are y'all just emailing either Franz or VK instead of using the web interface?

I emailed my files directly to VK on Tuesday(7/26) and recieved the new ones yesterday(7/29). The note I recieved from VK stated that it is currently taking an average of 5 days for the tuner files. I installed this morning and the butt dyno says there's definitely an improvement in low end torque . I'll try to get to the real dyno this week for a real comparison.

Just returned from the dyno. this is a before (Dec 04 - blue) MTH tuner and after(today - red). There were no other mods in between, the only difference is the air temp which was much higher today. Net gain at the wheels was 13.5 hp and 12.7 ft-lbs torque.

Not 10% but not bad at all. The car seems smoother, acceleration feels waaaaay better.

Was the first dyno run on the standard MTH mapping (pre-MTH Tuner)?

I should have metioned this but No, the first run was with the JCW software which produced better numbers that the pre-tuner MTH did on my car. Don't really know why though.

Wow!! 13WHP and almost the same on torque... I knew I felt a difference when I updraded to MTH Tuner, but I'm really impressed to see such numbers!

Thanks for the dyno updates!

Vader,

What other mods you have on your MCS?

Clarification!

I don't anyone to be confused about the information I have posted.

Prior to today, Vader DID NOT have MTH software loaded.

The difference shown on the dyno chart is between the JCW upgrade version and the MTH-tuner version.
I know some have seen a 10hp gain with the original MTH so I don't someone thinking that the numbers posted were between the original MTH and the new tuner version.
I'm very glad that I did this. The car 'feels' much better. Pulls well from 2K rpm. Less down shifting and easier to launch.

Vader,

What was the process for paying for and sending your files to Volker?
Any problems in paying for the tuner files?

Thanks,

retroom

I simply emailed the downloaded files to VK. He replied with an invoice email. I made the payment via Pay Pal the same day and I had the files two days later.

Is it possible to have only the DSC upgraded by MTH and not the engine map becuse I already have a giac in which is tuned for my 19%. If I send in my file would MTH be able to read my GIAC file? I don't want to breach their copyright on their software. I just want more give from the DSC before it starts to kick in.

Nice figure . When I did dyno my rig (Std MTH) I could see only a fraction of HP and torque gains. The major different is where the max rpm is the MTH gives you extra rpm and a litle bit more horses up there. But you seem to get nice gain across the range . However I really like to see the comparison between the std MTH and the tuner.

One comment thought, why is the max rpm on your tuner MTH only maxed at 6900 rpm .

Thanks

Did you specify your rpm range on your standard mth? I specifically asked for 6900 or the stock redline when I sent him my files last year. I just bought a pulley puller and will probably upgrade it soon. Then, I will try out the tuner map. Sounds like it's probably what I want.

But can we get some kind of credit for the 60 euros we already paid?

Yes, I got a new file with only the DSC mods a few weeks ago.

Where did everybody get the new cartune program? I have the old one, but it says to upgrade to the new program. The next one I have is version 1.1.15, but it requires a code to activate it. I have heard there is a version 1.1.16 out there also. I have emailed Franz and VK for the last two weeks and am not getting any response.

There is a version 1.1.16 out. I have it. If you have a user log in on http://www.mth-powerchip.de/_neu1407/e_index.php you can down the new version. Now I have a question. I got my files back last night and they say "standard MTH file". Is that the full retune or is there more that can be done? I gave them a list of my mods and paid for software. Is guess what I"m really asking is the "standard MTH File" just a file that works on all mcs or is it tuned for my car?

couple of questions

With the "standard" MTH software (~60€) are you still able to have MTH do custom tweaks multiple times, or is it a one-shot deal, now that they've got these "tuner" maps?

I'm really attracted to the DSC mod, as well as other drivability enhancements (my '05 MCS is going to the shop this week to see if they can get rid of a power deficit and feeling of "loading up" around 3k). Does anyone know if MTH can modify or remove the "throttle hold"? By throttle hold, I mean how the engine continues to rev for about a full second after you take your foot off the gas.

Vader, what happened to your air/fuel curve?

Both the standard and tuner packages are full retunes, the tuner simply adds a lot more power, along with the other features. Both allow free updates and customizations.

I did not request an increase in the max rpm. I was mainly after low to mid range torque. I try to stay away from the red line.

Look at that RIDICULOUS low-end increase [2k or so]. Also, look at how lean the car was running on AF before. ~15??? That's really not good.

blalor,

MTH can get rid of throttle hold. When you send in your specs just ask Franz to remove throttle hold.

/me jumps for joy

Does that throttle hold bug anyone else? I find it really messes with my (daily driving, non-performance) shifts. The revs never drop enough between, say, 2nd and 3rd, so the engine's going too fast for the wheel speed. I find it really annoying. I try to counteract it by letting up on the gas a split-second before putting in the clutch, but that just requires way too much thought! :-)

It annoys me unspeakably, you kidding ? I actually wonder if it's stressful on the clutch...
