Does anyone with an MC know if the standard file is the same one that used to go for about $70? I se they have a standard and tuner file. They go for 150 and 300 euros.

I have heard good reviews for the MTH for an MC, but will it cost me 300 to get that performance now?

Richard? do you know?

I'm still wondering as well. From what I've read, they've divided the MTH mod into two levels, the basic and the pro tuner version. While we've all grown to love the "original" MTH mod, it's now being labeled as one that isn't optimized for HP and really just solved a lot of annoying little problems, but that if you want real horsepower and willing to buy the forthcoming MTH engine parts, then you will get max performance.

My feeling is that it still IS the same file, but don't know for certain.

Richard

Where are the different maps advertised on their site? I only see the option to download the latest version of Cartune for 59.31 Euros (incl. 1 "free" key. heh).

I read it at one of the posts in this thread. Apparently it was an email sent to an MTH user. The website doesn't say anything.

The 60 Euro version is the equivalent to the 150 Euro version. The 300 Euro is the new tuner map, which is even better.

I believe they are currently updating the MTH web site and should have current software and hardware packages on the web site by the end of the month. That is what I have picked up from reading various other forums and corresponding with Volker at MTH. If you have specific questions you would like answered I would recommend emailing Volker, he is very helpful in answering any questions you may have, as well as provide input on what modifications will and won't work with the MTH software.

So, does this mean that if I want to do the 60€ map, I better get hoppin' before 60€ becomes 150€?

Well. That sucks.

With the cheaper option, what qualifies as an "upgrade" to the original file? What if I'm not happy with what I'm getting on the first go, and haven't made any changes to my car? Will they still charge me 40€ per shot to get it right, or is that only once I've made a modification?

I'm suddenly very reluctant to buy their product, although I'm not happy with how my car runs (bone stock, I might add...). They seem pretty fly-by-night; this thread (and others like it on different forums) is required to even figure out the process, there's minimal information on their website, and what *is* there has been inaccurate for a while, now (at least regarding pricing, which changed nearly 3 weeks ago and was presumably conceived some time before that).

your frustration is certainly understandable. I did all the reading in various forums to get as much info as I could about the software, prices, etc. I found that the most efficient way to get the info I wanted was to email MTH and get it from the horses mouth so there would be no surprises and I new exactly what I would get. I'm not trying defend MTH, as I feel that their business model is definitely lacking, as far as what we expect here in the states. But from my experience with MTH, if you ask a direct question, you will get a direct answer. And for the price, that's good enough for me.

The price change was inevitable, but still a shame. It was a good buy for >$80, and from what I have heard the tuner file is pretty awesome, but I don't think I am willing to pay +$325 for something that will be vapor a year later. At least the other ECU mods, GIAC, UNIChip, etc, there is resell value if you move on. I like my MTH mod, but I doubt I till continue using them when I have to start digging in my pocket to get upgrades. I don't see the value. My $0.02

i dont know hw this things goes in the states but if i pay for something i must recieve this for what i paid and if not then my money back. i have to say that i am very happy with my upgrade but i was told i could change it as many times as i want for free and this is what i will ask for.
Something is true Mth is the chippest way to upgrade your ecu but also is the more painful you have to wait with no date to the fails, do it your self to the car, buy a cable, you dont have any support, etc
so its not gold all that glitters...

USB Drivers New Page?

Can anyone confirm if this page is the new USB driver page for ODB cable from Sascha??

http://www.obd3.de/pages/4_2_hilfen_main.html

Seems the old USB page I referred to in my article has been moved, and after some checking it appears this MIGHT be the new page, but I can't read German, so I don't know for sure.

Volker Kurch To The Rescue (USB Drivers)

..or Volker will send the USB drivers to you if you ask. I'm sure he'd rather we download them, but finding them seems to be the trick for us U.S. customers. The URL in the previous 2 posts seems to just be instructions for setting up the drivers, not the drivers themselves.

or is it from the MTH website because I cannot find it there?

Ok....im lost.....someone please clarify something or maybe the person making this software?

How much is this flash?

Do we get different configurations for free after first purchase?

Why is so much cheaper than other flash's?

Has there been any known problems with the flash?

Can we have multiple programs to choose from?

Ill shut up now!

ok here is the info directly from MTH

We have to clear a huge misunderstanding. What you always paid the 60 Euro for was CARTUNE, not any tuning file. Cartune is the program to up- and download files. Because Franz is MINI crazy himself, he started to do free files for the German MINI community a long time ago. The word spread fast in WWW and caused a huge misunderstanding that tuning files were available for 60 bucks and lifetime free upgrades. Sorry, but that was never the case and MTH never promised to give lifetime free upgrades. We simply can not go on like this any more. It is far too much work for nothing.

The new prices do include Cartune, so no need to pay an extra 60 Euro. People that bought Cartune first and only later decide to go for a tuning, will be credited with the 60 Euro paid for Cartune (till end of October) for their first order.

We still try to give free updates to old customers as long as we can handle that.

Standard file
The standard file is something to get rid of any hick ups the car has and to sort out the standard factory faults.
ONE D: +/- 98 BHP
ONE / COOPER: +/- 125 BHP
COOPER S: +/- 190 BHP
Price: 150 Euro - incl. Cartune – excl. updates

Price per update: 40 Euro

Tuner file
The tuner file is especially made to gain power and torque and is made specially for any particular car in order to make best use of all different modifications. It makes quite a substantial difference to the standard file. The improvement is mainly felt at lower revs. Here we gain about +/- 15% of power and torque (compared to the standard MTH file). The throttle response is highly improved and the car is much nippier
ONE / COOPER 135+ BHP
COOPER S 200+ BHP

Price: 300,00 Euro - incl. Cartune and 12 months free upgrades, when necessary

Please note: updates are changes to the software should new tuning parts be installed. The file is then adjusted to work best with these new parts. Upgrades are not changes to the software to increase power or change a standard file to a tuner file.

Another misunderstanding I came across is, that many people think that the tuner file is for highly modified cars only. Both files, standard as well as tuner, are for cars with or without modifications.

We are busy changing a few things at MTH. That does include the website and the new online shop. We apologize for any inconvenience that may occur due to the restructuring. Please give us a little bit more time to sort everything out. Thank you!

Cheers

Volker
