WILL you be doing modifications to your MINI or Mini? Already did - sway bars, blow off valve, 17" Sparco wheels (the stock 16" with Direzza K-1s are now my racing set)...okay its really still stock and want to do more - like JCW to get the another 40 hp (exhuast, intake, whatevs)

On a drive through the mountains the service engine soon light came on.

anyone know a good mini mechanic in the boulder area? I will drive further if needed, just very sad that my old mechanic doesn't service the Mini

 

Go to an Autozone or Oriellys and have them check/reset the code. It may be something minor and they won't charge you to read the code.

Mine does this sometimes too when driving in the Mountains, it usally is a "Too Lean" condition. I found it happens more when I'm "putting" up a hill instead of going up "spirited".

Go Motors is a reseller, they may have a mechanic familiar with MINIs.

Otherwise, Gunbarrel Motors in Niwot has been mentioned, I don't have personal experience with them.

I am hoping it is something stupid. I just bought it, got the door lock fixed and i am pretty sure my key is dying. (good thing i got that door lock fixed as the other key is dead as well)

the husband and i also learned that more sunscreen is required for future top down rides which is sad, i have sunscreen in the glove box.

but i do need good suggestions for a mechanic for the future. not a single mini mechanic is recomended within 500 miles in car talk's mechanic files.

a friend at my husband's work has an 06 cabrio too and says something catastrophic happens once a year (hoping that is just a fluke)

 

i read on car talk that in most cases you can use normal gas instead of premium most of the time. The computer, they said, will adjust for the difference so i tried it, but she noticed and stated her objections to my stingyness

i've bought a product that is supposed to increased the octane of the gas i already have and keep the engine lubed, or some such thing.

 

Hey all. New to Colorado but not the mini culture.
I got my car back in 07. Its a 03 r53, chili red with white top.
As you can see in my signature my car is moded, but not done yet.
Looking for people to cruise the mts with since I don't know where the good roads are here. Also looking for people that like to work on cars to wrench with. I've got a short shift that I need to do still and a detroit tuned bpv......beers cars and good times!
Looking forward to getting to know other members and maybe hitting up the event in winter park.

Welcome Cali44redrocket, you should find some like minded MINI souls her in the MINI5280 club.

I can think of Blubyu, Miniconcarne and DicksGarage as the current short list of modders. Many others, too.

Splat, stay away from the mid grade 87 and 85 in Colorado, your MINI will barf a big one. Shell, Conoco, Diamond Shamrock or KingSoopers Premium only.

Hello All,

I have rejoined the ranks of MINI owners today. I picked up a gently used 08 MINI Cooper S, (Chili Red) today and I am loving it. My previous MINI was a 2003 S BRG. I am impressed with the 08 and I really like the fact that it is a turbo and not the SC. I don't want to start any turf wars between the two, but my last MINI hurt me bad when I had to replace the SC. (OK, I did it myself and it was fun actually) Hello to all again!

Naming ceremony will be in a few days, I have to drive it a bit before settling on a name...

Also got a second set of brand new mounted snow tires as well!



Will be tooling around the Westminster area.

CALI44, any time you want to slap that stick in let me know, I will have a pretty empty garage within the next couple weeks. I also tend to ride the hills every weekend in the warmer months so maby you would want to join in.

John, nobody at 5280 will hold your turbo against you. Most are trading in their 53's for 56's unless its sack out performance they are after.

There is a ride this Sunday if you guys want to join in.

Hi Everyone,
I am really, really new. I was just adopted yesterday from the orphanage (Mini of Loveland) by my loving parents. I just sitting here today wondering what to do when Lil’ Valentino called and asked if I would like to go motoring with him. "Of course," I said, "I would love to," and he promised we would do some curve hugging. We drove a long way up the mighty freeway before we turned off on a gorgeous road with lots of curves and turns. It really started to rain hard just like yesterday when I was adopted. It seems like both times I have been on the road, it has been stormy and rainy.

As we went farther up the road, the rain stopped and the sun come out and Lil’ Valentino showed me how to hug the curves. I was really having fun and then we went to the big town of Fort Collins where Lil’ Valentino took me for a yalla yalla. I would really like to meet some of you on Sunday at the picnic. I hope by then that I will have a name, I heard people talking about names like Lady Stormy or Lil' Miss Stormy because it storms whenever I get on the road. So if my parents can get my black shoes with shiny buckles polished, my sparkling silver dress clean and the spots off of my white hat and gloves, then I will see you Sunday!

Yes, the RRR Rambler Ranch Run is one good event for our new MINI Motorers in Colorado. Take a look at your calendar, then take a look at ours (the MINI 5280 Calendar right here in NAM) and go ahead and sign up for this event coming up in a few weeks. A nice ride out east (kind of splits the difference between Denver and Colorado Springs) but remember, if you are coming from the SOUTH then we can set up a meetup spot there, and you can meet our NORTH group at RRR as noted.

Check the calendar or let us know if you need more info. Hot Dogs provided to attendees, picnic style. This is a sort of pitch in so bring what you want, especially your own soft drink or ice cold BEvERage.
