Hello all-

I live in the Denver area and recently bought a 2006 MCS convertible with 37K miles. I'd take a picture but we are having another spring snow storm today! This is my first Mini and love it so far. My family loves it too and when all 4 of are riding in it we are certainly a closer family! Looking forward to some nicer days to drive the convertible and doing some work on it.

I just had the passenger airbag sensor repaired as the light was staying on (thankfully not at my cost!). Anyone else know if this is a known issue and it might come back? Any other known issues I should be aware of?

Might do MITM or least part of it. Looks like fun.

 

Cars & Coffee Lafayette is on 95th and Arapahoe from about 7AM to 10AM officially, some folks stay around until 11AM.

Welcome milehi_mini, other folks will have to tell you about your airbag lights, nice to see a close family getting closer.

MITM is fun and come out on some MINI5280 rides, get to know the club and members. We do have fun!

• WHEN did you get your MINI (or Mini)?

I got my Mini in December 2006 in New Jersey

• WHAT is your MINI or Mini's name?

My Mini's name is Miles. My motoring ID is Play525 - I don't ever use it anymore though.

• WHAT color or colors is your MINI?

My MINI is Indi Blue. Unfortunately, a few years ago someone key'd the drivers side of my car headlight to taillight. Haven't had the money for the repair, but if anyone knows someone who does good work for an affordable price I'm always looking.

• What options did you get on your MINI?

It's a S so all that comes with that, plus sport package, sunroof, Harmon Kardon sound.

• WILL you be doing modifications to your MINI or Mini?

Currently just have a mini do more hitch and a front sway bar but would love to do more when I have the money, time, and possibly a different daily driver.

• WHERE did you get your MINI or Mini? New? Used?

Got it for a steal used off a Mazda dealership. It was before they were really popular so the dealer knew nothing about it.

• WHY did you get a MINI or Mini?

Have a passion for cars/brands with a British racing history. As a hobby I race a 1953 MGTD.

Get involved, try to make it to MITM in August, always a good time in the Mountains.

You have a good dealer up north and a good race shop that knows MINIs. They may know a place who could repair your scratch, but it sounds like it might be total repaint after all this time.

Racing a '53 MG TD? Wow! I've driven one of those a time or two. It's hard to imagine racing one. You'll want to check out the British car conclave!

If you want to race your MINI, come out for the BMW club autocross events. I'd love to see more MINIs.

 

Racing them is always an interesting challenge...it's always a success if the majority of the cars make it through the race without breaking. Where can I find the listing for the autocross events, I probably don't want to do too much with my mini for now, as it is my daily driver and I can't afford the conversions right now, but if there are some open fun/stock events, especially with autocross, I'd love to come out!!

 

Not sure how to post a link from my phone .... For autocrosses, check the web for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the BMW CCA. We have around 6 autocrosses/year. There are 4 left. You would most likely be in C Street class. Lots of fun! Typically you'll get around 8 runs in.

This Saturday is the Denver People's Fair downtown on Broadway, Schomp MINI will have a demo area for driving, could be fun, come down and drive and watch.

Sunday is Automezzi in Broomfield, a traditional Italian car show but they invited the British cars this year to be a feature guest. A few of us will be over to enjoy and show our MINIs.

Welcome Graham, wow that is a list of mods on your MCS, I would love to compare how your chip is working on the N18 with some of my experiences with a tuned N14 engine.

Graham, for Pikes Peak hill climb nothing for the club, a few members may meet up, but not sure. It is kinda come and go as you want.
