New Members! Join us today to "Occupy Childrens"
Yes, it is the time of year for Giving. This year we will hold the 8th Annual Children's Hosptial Run for Charity. This is the time of the year when MINI5280 Members and friends collect gifts and toys for the less fortunate children who are in the hospital and being treated.
Please mark your calendar as follows:
> Sunday, November 27th
> Meetups will be North and South as before
> Arrive at Children's at 11 am
> Bring unwrapped, original toys for kids ages 3 to 13
> Your children, unfortunately, will have to stay in the lobby of the hospital (and will not get a tour) due to safety (health) rules. This is normal.
Watch this space for more information and a flyer which you can post at work with a box to collect from others. As always, we will park our MINIs right in front of The Children's Hospital for pictures.
"Occupy Children's" is our theme. Remember, we are the 1/2 of 1% who drive small, fuel efficient, high fun factor MINIs.
You will feel good about yourself for GIVING. Start the Holidays RIGHT!
See our Childrens thread right here in NAM for the flyer...

my mini
hello everyone, I got my mini in Dallas Tx.
It is a 2004 mc40 and I wanted it cause it was not like the other mini's I have encountered. I have named her Rosewine. she is fun to drive and she always gets a lot of questions about her looks.I have put an ATI superdamper in it as the old one decided to fall out of the car one day. I also replaced the control arm bushings with some power flex bushings. installing them was not bad, getting the old ones out was.
I don't take her out in winter much and I will need to put a clutch in her soon. hope to motor with you guys in the future.

from Atlanta...
Hi all!
I actually live in Atlanta with my Boy Toy (dark silver and white 2008 hardtop Mini Cooper S) but I now work in Denver. I fly to Denver every Sunday and fly back to Atlanta every Thursday.
Unfortunately, this means I am currently Mini-less during the week. Car rental places don't generally have Minis, and if they did they'd probably charge an arm and a leg. My expense account just won't cover it. *sigh*
I'm hoping some of you might have ideas on a way for me to be driving a proper vehicle. I was thinking of a lease, but not sure yet of the cost and logistics; I may be here for a year, I may be here for 3 months.
PLEASE HELP!!!! Please PM or IM me with your thoughts. I really really really want to enjoy the Denver area in a Mini; it just won't be the same if I have to keep driving some other car. And I'm totally having Mini-withdrawal here.

Legend of the Boy Toy
The Legend of the Boy Toy begins one fine June day in 2008 - just a week after some twit ran into me and totaled my car. I thought long and hard, but in the end the only car I cared for was the Mini. I visited both Mini dealers in Atlanta in search of my new baby. Alas...
I told the salesman the features I was looking for, but it seems a manual transmission can only be found on a Cooper S Hardtop at the end of the rainbow; there certainly wasn't one available in Georgia at the time! His response: Oh! You want a bad boy's car!
...and the Boy Toy was born...
..but only after I drove 7 hours to Flow Mini in Winston-Salem, North Carolina one Saturday, after calling Mini dealers in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee to check their inventory. There was no way I was going to drive all over the place only to discover that they didn't have anything I'd accept! Flow Mini had the perfect car, including each and every feature I wanted. They even stayed open late for me; I didn't get there until about 20 minutes before they closed and we all know it takes longer than that to do all the paperwork.
The Boy Toy and I love to drive through the mountains, and the ones here in Colorado are calling me - but I can't bear to visit in a bottom-of-the-line Eclipse or an actually-pretty-nice Kia Soul (also known as the bastard child of a Mini and a Honda Element).

welcome
Welcome Podo, if only 3 months, you might find a MINI to lease, if 12 months, see if your budget will allow one of those 12 month only leases.
Or you can always bring out your MINI and when at 'home', ask friends for rides!
I hope you enjoy your stay in Denver area, we have a great club and lots going for 2012. Come out to a club meeting mix it up, park in the back with the kia.

Nice intro and pictures, good name.

I visited the one Mini dealer I found online - Ralph Schomp. Unfortunately, they don't have 1 year leases, only 2 year. The guy said a one year lease would cost too much anyway, though we never discussed money so he has no idea what I can or cannot afford. He talked with a couple others, but as far as they know none of the rental places have Minis except for a luxury rental place in Las Vegas... which confirms what I'd already checked.
sigh...
No Mini for me. *cry*

Podo, a year or so ago, Budget in Omaha was renting MINI Coopers, current year at that time.
I would suggest you call a couple of rental companies, not the big kids, but the smaller ones and see if the have a monthly rate.

also,
if you know a week or so ahead of time when you'll have some free time for motoring, throw up a thread, i'm sure if you'd "rent lunch" or something, someone may be willing to take you up into the mtns for the afternoon
just a thought

Hey guys/gals
While I'm not officialy a Mini owner yet...I placed my order yesterday for my CM. I ordered a silver with black top/mirrors S all4. Added cold weather, tech+nav, dual pane sun roof, black/red seats, flat load rear, and xeon lights. Delivery probably wont be until the end of March, early April. So I figured I'd make an early appearance to introduce myself.
I've spent the last 10 years building Jeeps, and it's time to get back to go fast cars!
I look forward to hitting up the search function learning all I can about my new Mini! Hopefully I'll get to meet some local members and hit some M&G's!
Thanks in advance to the Admin and mods for what looks, so far, to be a great forum!
