Alan says that the JCW Team bought some cheap Chinese wheels that are heavy and bend easily. Hey but they look good.....

I spoke with Team JCW they are ASA GT5's 18 x 8" 45 offset. I'll find out if they used spacers. The good news is that the MINI JCW team are making their own wheels that will be racing wheels that are super light and will sell for little more than the ASA brand. They will be selling them in Feb next year...just in time for summer and specifically designed for our cars!
I'm trying to get a photo. Stay tuned

From Luis @ MINI JCW race team.
"MSIR regulations made us remove the big factory JCW brakes and forced us to run the Cooper S brakes.
We are talking to the wheel company about making wheels that will fit the JCW."
So you would need spacers...with ASA wheels.

Good detective work! I guess I didn't ask enough questions to Alan @ Fikse....I assumed he knew about the large Brembos but he must not have. Keep us posted!

John. I think the Fikse wheels will fit our cars. They are pretty custom...but you pay for that.

For the money - the NM Engineering custom wheels are still the best deal around for the F56 JCW brakes

Agreed. And really if you don't go the custom route and stick with the nm RSe12 wheels, only a 3mm spacer is needed on the front.

So did you go the custom route or do the ones that need spacers?

They will need 6mm spacers on the front. I'll put 12mm on the back just to flush them up.

I'm still thinking of getting something else too. I don't like the stock wheels that I'm using for my winter tires.

Yea I'm not a fan of the black spoke 17s I got but nothing else looked decent. It's just arrr that no ones making rims for the JCW. It's almost like do you wait and see if someone is going to make some 18s that dont need spacers or get something now, decisions decisions...

Frustrating isn't it? I've never had a car that was so difficult to find non-stock wheels for! I'm fine with the two-tone cup spoke 18"'s (they are beautiful), but they need to be 7.5" or 8" wide...not 7"!! The F56 absolutely needs larger diameter wheels to look proper! It's a bigger "mini", so the wheels need to be bigger, as do the tire widths!

But, I also prefer a more classic multi-spoke silver MINI style wheel, like on the Gen 1 MCS....this is why I initially spec'd my JCW with the silver track spokes...I'm so glad I saw some of the first JCW's imported to dealers with the track spokes (on Autotrader), because I really didn't care for the look (too small!). Fortunately I had ordered a manual transmission (which was delayed as many know) so I had time to change my specifications some...and it worked out well!

I'll definitely look seriously into an optional wheel & tire combination (with non runflats) for a second set of wheels/tires..."if" I see something I like that will fit proper on the JCW.

Cheers,

John

Pretty sure Mackin Industries (Advan, Volk, Kreutzer) have a few applications that would clear and fit. I originally wanted to get a set of Advans but was too impatient to wait so ended up with the Kreutzer Xi series. Not the biggest fan of the look but it works for now.

Yep, I talked to Jerry today and ordered a set of the RSe52 18x8s and lowering springs, should have everything in a few weeks since he's going to wait till I get back from London to ship them.

RSe12's are here.

The exteriors are nicely finished. They are way lighter than the JCW rims (I own 2 sets). The interior of the wheels is poorly finished compared to the front. There are blotches in the paint and they are slightly sticky. I would imagine it would be hard to get the brake dust off the back part of the wheels. Mini wheels are a higher standard of overall finish. These are excellent for the price.

I'm in Canada so I would have to transfer my summer tires off the "JCW" rims that won't fit on the JCW and try them....so not sure. if I get a nice day I might just try a rim on the front. I'll take pics if I do!
