SSR and Volk make some really nice wheels for the f5x cars. If I garage the f55 next fall instead of trading it which I did with my last mini, BBS Lm,CCW,SSR or Volk will replace the BBS sr016 and build will be complete until a plug and play big turbo conversion is proven and available.

Here is the next A1A cruiser

Plan to get a cpo 550i for the daily grind across the bridges to the mainland. If I can find a alpina b6 cpo for under 70k I may go that direction

Did anyone on this tread ever take the stock measurements. Fender clearance, suspension clearance etc?

Looks great. What size tires are you using?

I'm with you on that, under-stated is the look I'm after
Will get some better full size pictures up when I have sorted wheel centres
It's looking like BMW ones will get the vote, over the BBS logos with the Audi option coming a very distant third
Mini ones are also unlikely

Al - You just have to be really careful with an 8" wheel and 215 tires and curb rash. Those tires on a 7" wheel will overhang enough to protect the rims somewhat from the curb...but on those rims I would guess they will be almost flush. Look amazing - try to keep them that way!
The 7" x 17" rims that came with my JCW (track spoke) bend out so much they a nickname "rash rims" by the guys at the dealership. I'm super careful, run 215's and I've scraped one in the first 1,000 miles.

my BBS rc 326 wheels are 17 x 7.5 ET 43, so work well with the 215/45/17
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 87Y
(after custom machining the c/b to suit and then adding radius washers )

Your correct in that The spokes do bend out a little but not as much as the official mini ones,

I'm totally convinced at this point that MINI didn't design the wheels for the F56 JCW until the rest of the car was designed. It's kind of obvious that there is just "no give" when it comes to fender & strut clearance, and clearing the Brembos!

The nice thing is the stock wheels are really tight up to the Brembos with minimal clearance and it DOES look sweet in stock form!

The overall look of the F56 is just better with the larger diameter wheels and wider tires. So, therein lies the dilemma many of us have. Leave well enough alone or spend a fortune through trial & error fitments?

Kudos to those of you who are leading the way trying different wheel & tire combinations!

John

John - these aren't the Profil 10's though. They are way more "busy"... Did Alan give these a name?

How do you like those tires? I put a set on mine after about 200 miles on the Hankook run flats. Big improvement. I'm still looking for a set of reasonably priced wheels that I like.

The Profil 10's is all he quoted me....I guess they are a bit different. The Lap Motorsports MINI wheels are likely custom made for their race cars, and the Profil 10 is the closest thing....I think they look very similar though:
