Official MINI DRLs Fitted
My auto headlamps have been completely unaffected by the LED DRLs, as one might expect.
What I get from headlamps set at 'auto' is:
- normally (day): full ring DRLs on, headlamps off.
- dim/night: auto headlamps come on, DRLs switch down to just top quarter.
Switching on the foglights (or switching on headlamps or sidelights manually) also cuts the DRLs down to the top quarter.
Trying to run the full DRLs at night is anti-social - they are designed to glare in the daytime (which is why other people notice them), so having them on at night is the same as using low-power bright/main beam headlights.

Angib,
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I tried your test and everything works as described. I guess the overcast day yesterday wouldn't allow the Automatic Headlamp function to turn off the headlamps. So, now I know the Automatic Headlamps work as intended.
And, to JCW_Coupe,
> The fogs are the center light and controlled by the foglight switch on the center console.
> The outside ring is the DRL which is on all the time when the headlamps are off.
> The eyebrow shows up when the headlamps are on.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Got mine installed today by Edge Motor Works in Mtn View, very happy with the way they look.

My local dealer said I can order, and pay for them but cannot get them shipped.
I thought to myself, I can order and pay for them too but the difference, I got them delivered

Cheers~ Neil
Also, they need to get the instructions straightened out. The 2nd diagram on page 9 shows the footwell module upside down which could easily lead to placing the blue wire on the wrong plug-in and possible computer damage.
Have been watching these closely, and I'm almost sold. Having made the mistake of not ordering factory fogs with the xenons (big wall of white in fog) I am curious if any of you have actually used the fog lights yet in thick fog are they helpful or just pretty? Outmotoring says they have the brackets needed for adding these in and that i will need reprogramming would be willing if they actually help with visibility.
Beam is low, wide and bright...works.
Adjusted as per the website they will work great
http://www.centraliowaminiclub.org/?s=fog
Also, they may need to be aimed correctly. You have a hex adjustment in the top center of each lamp accessed from the outside of the bumper. It is easily spotted and I believe is 5.5mm Scottab36 said, "The adjustment screw is at the top of the housing and takes a 5.5mm hex. Simply find a large open level area at night and adjust them so the reach out a bit shorter than the headlights. Remember they're used to illuminate the road below the fog."

Has anyone installed the LED foglights on to a Canadian spec car?
Canadian spec cars have xenons as DRL. And there is no way of turning them off on the turn stalk without doing some programming on NCSExpert. Im trying to see if i can get away without programming.
I know the LEDs will "work" without doing anything, but im not sure if I can get the full functionality out of them (ie. Full halo while driving.)

Sent from my iPhone using NAMotoring
Didn't get done at dealer though. I went to an indie MINI mechanic.
I'd bought them from one of the Forum's sponsors: http://www.ecstuning.com/
outmotoring has them for $498.95
