Sorry to say that only animals wave anymore.

 

I see 1 or 2 MINI's just about anytime I go for a good drive. You can always tell a NEW MINI driver. They NEVER wave. I hope they are just focused on their car since it's new. They usually don't even see me.
People who have had their MINI for a while usually start waving like a crazy person, just like I do. REAL MINI drivers are obsessed with their car. They are also obsessed with ALL MINI's!! I love seeing other MINI's, and anything MINI actually. I'll continue to wave, even though I don't get many waves back!
Those of you that do wave, thank's!! You make being part of the MINI community FUN!!
To those that don't, hopefully you'll learn to love the MINI like I do, or you go back to a big 'ol SUV with no personality!

 

I usually do, some wave, some turn on their highs, one mini owner that I almost meet everyday on the highway stopped by a local buger joint he approached and we shook hands, now we're friends..

 

Had a very good wave today in town doing errands. I'm consistently batting around 0.5 I'd say.

 

Sat next to a blue Cooper S at a traffic light. The young lady driving never looked up from her phone so she could see me wave. She was still sitting there when the light changed and I drove off. Go figure

I just got my Betty girl on the 27th of last month but I wave at every Mini driver I see! No waves back just yet...:(
I've got some very puzzled looks from drivers in other vehicles. :D

 

I can't yet assess if MINI drivers still wave. I encountered my first MINI to try a wave on yesterday. Another Cooper S, late 20s gal, alone, traveling the same direction on the freeway. I slipped by on the right side, slowed a bit, gave my best smile and wave...didn't get a wave in return.

But I'll keep it up. I'm used to waving from motorcycling. About 80% return rate there.

 

I was going east on Palatine rd and waved at a girl in a red MINI and I got a wave!!!

 

I think the waves back are about opportunity: if drivers are enjoying their driving, we are more prepared to wave.

I normally get a 7-8 waves back out of 10 (especially when I am with the family!); I traveled last week to! Northern Michigan and got several waves back except from drivers that looked in a hurry

 

I waved at a MINI in a parking lot, the driver was looking down, texting or something. He didn't see me, so I pulled into the space next to him and beeped my horn, he looked up and waved!

That was only the second time I've ever beeped the horn on my MINI!

Funny, some seem to wave vigoriously while others just look at you like you're crazy.

 

Had a very uplifting ride to work today! Had to take a detour, and saw a beautiful Chili Red Cabrio approaching, got ready to wave, but she beat me to the punch. Then just 2 cars later saw an awesome Pepper White with viper stripes approaching. Couldn't tell how many women were in it, but before I could even raise my hand, i saw 4 hands waving vigorously and all were smiling wildly at me!!!

Made my day!!! This NEVER happens, may go that way every day, now

My usual route I rarely see a Mini and only get an occasional return wave.

I find the probability of getting a wave back (or a wave first) increases proportionately with the amount of customization done to the car. Stock MINI, maybe you'll get a wave. Accessorized MINI, most likely you'll get a wave if the driver's not too busy driving to get one going....

I got a wave a few days ago from an R53 owner. I didnt wave though. I gave the thumbs up haha.

I never wave, just thumbs up.

Saw 4 Minis today and waved at all of them.
Finally, I got a wave back! Not only did I get a wave back from the driver, but I got one back (with a huge grin) from his son in the passenger seat. AND, this particular driver was driving a black Mini with white roof and stripes just like Betty!

 

I have very little success with waves. Well except for MINI5280 clubmembers. I have seen several with very serious suit and tie guys that won't even look or pretend not too. But last night I got a wave from a guy that has a MINI in my neighborhood. I have seen it parked around there but never moving until now. He smiled and waved and so did I. It was cool.

 

We went to Baker Beach in San Francisco today and saw at least 15 Minis. We waved at every last one and only got one wave back. It's a bummer but I'll continue to wave anyway.

 

Got two out of three returned today. That's my best ever. Maybe it's a weekend thing.

 

Passed two Mini's this morning and both waved. I waved back with a big smile as well.

 

Got a huge arm sticking out of a MINI a couple of days back. Just an open hand, no arm movement. Just a huge freakin' gun sticking out the window. Dude was a beast. Cool that he was driving a MINI.

For me it's chucking a deuce straight from the steering wheel. That's all you really need.

 

No one here in Utah waves. But I'm going to keep trying to get the first one to wave back. Maybe I'll have to honk as well.

 

I got my first wave on my way to work today! When I saw the MSC I was getting ready to flash my headlight but got a wave instead.

Then stumble onto this thread today! Very cool I love Mini's folks...

 

I have had my Mini two weeks now. Of course now that I have it I did not pass any Mini's until today. I waved but no response. When I had my Corvette I got a wave 9 out of 10 times.
