Do Mini people still wave at each other??
If I had been on my bike (Honda 1100 Sabre) it would not have surprised me. It was the biker waving at a Mini that caught me off guard. In my experience, generally speaking, bikers riding cruisers are very friendly and don't care what brand you ride, but crotch rocket riders tend to only acknowledge other crotch rockets. Very few bikers will ignore a wave if someone gives them one, but with the proliferation of bikes, it gets a little old with the constant waving so fewer guys do it first. There are exceptions to all this, obviously.
I'm looking at a blue coupe right now and I just decided (literally as I was typing this) that if I get it, I'm calling it the Blue Beetle, because the roofline reminds me of a scarab beetle. Plus there's the obvious comic book reference.
Might I offer a reason why people don't seem to wave? I find it's very difficult to actually SEE the driver's hands through a windshield with the sun's glare, and side windows are often tinted too dark to even see the driver. I prefer to flash lights, and definitely get a better response to them. The only problem is, I have Xenons, and they have to be on before I flash; otherwise I'd just mess up the igniters and be past the car before they light up anyway. Then again, I find it easier to drive with light on all the time on the highway--far fewer people pull out in front of me.
Some sort of a play on the Beatles occurred to me but I couldn't think of anything.
Liverputian? Liverpool + Liliputian?
Maybe "Billy" after Billy Preston, the unofficial fifth Beatle?

~How about the Blue Walrus~
Here in Vegas I think people are out of practice. I moved out here from Colorado where there aren't near as many MINI's. It's easy to get excited when you're not used to seeing another MINI. I've found that after awhile, I've come to expect other MINI drivers not to wave, so I'm not as ready to wave myself. I still get excited, and I still yell "MINI" when I see one, but I don't wave like I used to. It's discouraging to wave and not get anything back. I do sometimes, but I'd say 9 times out of 10, the other driver doesn't even see me. I think there are more MINI drivers out here, instead of MINI enthusiasts.
To those of you that do wave, Thank You! It makes my day!
Those of you that don't, I hope your just busy or focused. Otherwise, get a Kia Soul, or a PT Cruiser! :p

Within the last 2 weeks , i've waved.. and been waved at 3/4 times, the last time was today along Keystone in Tarpon Springs FL.
Another evening in traffic i talked with an owner of i would say 2005/6 Cooper S, when we had the oppurtunity we chatted again 3/4 times mostly about our impression of our cars, and any issues etc .
If you would like to experience group waving !!! then i suggest that you attend an upcoming event along the MTTS route ..Lets Motor !!

Spoke too soon. Got my first wave tonight, driving down the 95 southbound between Summerlin Pkwy and the Spaghetti Bowl...yellow MINI, black stripes. He waved first. I waved back, but not sure if he saw or not. I *think* I may have spotted a SCMC sticker on the rear window. Made my night.
There was a pepper white MINI in front of me, too, which I passed slowly. The young lady driver was in her own zone. Was going to wave at her, too...assuming that yellow had done so in front of me as well, but no way she was going to see me.

I know that, but if the car is a "blue walrus" and "the walrus was Paul", then what is the car's name?
I would say name it Peter but that was another band.
You might be stuck having to name him Maharishi Mahesh.
...and I'd have to get the wife to call hers Mary. Not gonna happen.
I know the Spaghetti Bowl well... I lived just south of Durango for a couple years. Here in Savannah, I find that new owners are lax to wave. Maybe my car confuses them but I oft flash all my lights and have my whole arm waving out of the window. Sad.....
That's because the other guys are trying to overcompensate!
Had a good one today. Going slow through town, I noticed a red countryman coming toward me. I gave a wave to no response. I was going slow enough to stay with it and gave the head tilt to say, what the? At the last moment, got one back.
