Do Mini people still wave at each other??
I rode motorcycles for years, and the wave seems most common among motorcyclists.
I'm a VW fan, and the VW community used to wave a lot more, but now that VW's are everywhere, the wave has gone away for the most part.
I don't have a MINI yet, but will sure try the wave once I get mine. There's two or three MINIs in my work parking lot between day and night shift...

My Cinamini and I motored up Angeles Crest Hwy this past weekend (top down of course) and got some waves from motorcycles and an older couple in a 1960's-ish convertible beautiful Mercedes! I didn't wave first, all these happy folks did!
Never saw a single MINI though :(

Me and the other resident Mini owner in my neighborhood wave to each other whenever we pass each other.
I also pass a bright yellow mini with a white bonnet stripes on my way to work and I wave to her every morning, but she doesn't wave back.. I'll break her eventually

I love how the annoying details of a challenging day at work fade away after a wave on the drive home. Thanks, metallic silver w/blue stripes! I couldn't stop smiling yesterday after we "met", and I hope we pass one another again one afternoon soon.
Just got my mini and being a motorcycle rider as well as coming from a 99 subaru wrx, WRX guys always wave and of course bikers do. Kind of a downer I have not gotten one wave not even from a modded mini :/ Keep waving and they will get the idea eventually or just look at you like your stupid

I do the "lift-2-fingers-off-steering-wheel" move when I see another Mini...is that considered a wave? Much more subtle, but oncoming Mini's can definitely see the gesture...though still not response in about 10 tries :(
Small "club" here and they wave!
We now have 5 Minis in the valley here. They all wave! By chance, one person must work in the courthouse across the street from us so my Mini and that Mini form an alliance daily!
Hmm...I'll have to try waving and see what happens. Should be interesting. Las Vegas isn't exactly filled with friendly people.
That...and my wife is probably going to think I've lost it.

Until I read this thread I thought it was odd that a biker on his Hog gave me the biker wave (two fingers pointing at the ground) the other day when I had my wife's convertible. All the windows were up and I was too slow to be able to respond. :(
Yup, I wave or flash lights, and sometimes I get a response. Not so much in the Houston area (probably because there are so many MINIs there), but I often get waves or flashes on the open highway, and in states where MINIs are less common. My theory is that "rare birds stick together" in those areas.
I'm old enough to remember the good old days when ALL import drivers waved to each other, then only sports car drivers, and finally those of a single marque. Back in those days our daily driver was a Porsche 356, and we always waved--and got responses--from other 356 drivers. And we still do--the same car still lives in our garage some 45 years later!
