Not 'un-friendly'-just perplexed

Once again I made my survey of the number of Minii spied on my weekly 550 mile circuit of AR/MO.

A few weeks back, over a dozen..the last few weeks, 3-5.

While it is heartening to see more on the road, I have received No headlight flashes or waves.

This is in direct contrast to Little Rock area where they are almost universal.

I credit two problems with my dearth of friendly wave-backs:#1, almost the entire trip is on Interstates with wide medians oftimes filled with dense trees/bushes..#2 the valiant Mini pushers may not realize just what it is I am trying to signal....from the cab of an 18 wheeler.

For next weeks trip, I plan to affix a sign saying,"My other and FAVORITE vehicle is a Mini" on the back doors.

Since moving to Houston, two months ago, I have seen, and waived to, many MINI's with absolutely NO responses from any of them.

I wave, and most wave back (or wave first!). It's a little weird for all involved, however, when I forget that I'm driving our enormous Dodge Ram and not Coop! :D

I drove the kangamangus highway this weekend and no Mini willing waved to me. Eventually, I MADE them wave to me...my boyfriend and I would honk the horn and stick our hands out the window. Basically saying: "YOU WILL WAVE AT US!"

I waved to a MINI as I passed and was glad to receive a wave back! Then I looked in the rear view mirror and realized he was the 2nd of two MINI's and I must have not noticed the first. It was a sad drive home :(

Don't worry I'm redoubling my efforts on spotting others! Waving isn't the issue after all!

We are enthusiastic wavers.... of course, we still play "Slug Bug" too. Perhaps we just haven't grown up

I see MINIs freaking everywhere here in Chicago. I wave and I get weird looks.

Ain't no love, in the heart of the city ...

Got a VERY enthusiastic wave from the one Mini I saw today. He put his hand very close to the windshield to make sure I saw the wave....we both had our "permagrins" on...epic

Awesome.

I saw two MINIs today and waved at both. Couldn't tell if I got any waves back, as it happened on the interstate and both had tinted windows, but I'll just pretend they returned my wave.

So my girlfriend wanted to know how many MINI motoring points I started with and how I regain said motoring points (I'm assuming by driving the MINI even more!)?

Also, in an attempt to redeem my sad previous experience, I did wave at another MINI today and was glad to see a wave back!

Not too many return waves around here, but I got one this morning so that kind of made my morning.

Story of my life It's not always easy, but sometimes happiness is a decision, not a circumstance. MINIs help make that decision

Last weekend, a woman just scowled at me when I waved and smiled... That was off putting, but a little later, as I drove into the Best Buy parking lot, another Electric Blue R53 chased me down, because she wanted to meet the only other EB MINI owner she's ever seen in this town, lol.

I drive by at least 3 MINI's a day, and I just got my second wave back in almost 3 months of ownership. It's not easy getting a wave out of people.

I've noticed, from these forums, that it is difficult to get a wave in Florida. I wonder why?

I got a wave the other day, but it was from one of my favorite MINI technicians... he was on the test drive loop, checking out a customer's car after an alignment.

I also get a wave regularly from a VW Beetle (a TDI purchased for fuel economy reasons)... he pulled up and rolled-down his window a few weeks ago to ask to hear my exhaust burble again... :D Nice guy with good taste!

Awesome! The second part, not the scowling woman. I've never actually met another MINI owner in person, much less had one chase me into a parking lot.
