What did you do to your mini today?
Replaced my side blinkers with chrome covered bulbs. Now my clear lenses don't show an orange bulb inside.
Retrofitted an autodimming rearview mirror with compass display....an option I'd wished I'd ordered from the factory. Problem resolved.
Installed the LED DRLs/Foglight units. Long term planning project finally reaches fruition!

2004 MCS MC40 #24 246K miles: On my drive back from visiting my mother, a distracted driver (he was on the phone, his left hand on the steering wheel, his right hand was holding the ear piece mic out away from his face)... I know this because I looked right at him has he started to merge from the left hand lane into the right lane, the only issue is that I was occupying the space at that time.
It is obvious he didn't even see me as he continued to move right onto me because he failed to cease his encroachment into an already occupied lane in both space and time. As I evaded the blind maneuver, I felt my left hand tires strike the shoulder rumble strip and yet it appeared this driver was still very intent in taking the space I had just vacated to give him room. I was able to make my way back onto the established marked roadway as I stared into the rear view mirror giving him the international and and arm sign for "WTF?", I quickly thought how could I communicate to him that he was the reason I wished I had more middle fingers...
OK, long story short, he in fact did make contact with me, he creased my rear bumper, making it obvious that he didn't even apply his brake once he realized he all but ran me off the road. Point is, he indeed did HIT me and even after the fact, he appeared to remain oblivious of anything out side of his phone call.
Time to start putting the dash CAM back into the car I am driving.
So, does anyone have a read bumper cover for a 2002-2006 S, preferable in Chili Red?
Well, tonight when I get back to the house I'll try to polish it out.
OH, I looked at the cigarette light surround and noticed that as I tried to pull my USB charger from it the lighter assembly came up with it, the locking tab on the orange surround is broken and then checked the other MC40 and it too needs to be replaced... after pulling both center consoles out to check the condition of the surrounds I realized I also have three incorrect down tube bolts... new parts ordered.
Motor on!

Wasn't technically today but been out of town and unable to post. Brought the Clubman in because when I pressed the clutch there was a noise, and only when the clutch was pressed. Past history on other cars indicated this was likely a throw-out bearing failing, so I made an appointment with Mini since I'm still in warranty for them to take a look at it.
I was half expecting them to say "well the bearing is covered but a new clutch won't be" But, when the adviser called me back a couple hours later and said that they were replacing the bearing and also the clutch on warranty I was ecstatic. I'm sitting at 29,500(roughly) miles with about 6 months left on my warranty. Brand new clutch now so I should be good to go for a while (knocks on wood).

Got my PS pump and fan replaced under extended warranty
. Work done by Mini of Fairfield County. They loaned me a 2014 Countryman Cooper S so I could get to work. My order from WMW had arrived when I got home and installed the Cabrio braces tonight that were in the order. Pretty good day MINI I must say.
James: Sorry to hear about #24, sounds like it could have been worse. Too many distracted morons on the road.

cursed at it for two hours while trying to install new PIAA Night Tech headlights and PIAA Ion Yellow fogs with carpal tunnel syndrome. When I finally got them, what a difference! I change all my lamps yearly, as I have issues with night driving. I usually run Sylvania Silver Stars, but these PIAA's have much better throw, color, and are noticeably brighter than even brand new Silver Stars. The yellow fogs make a world of difference in crappy weather as well. well worth the hours of cursing ;-)
My commute takes me over some highway bridge joints and intercity travel with all the rough roads that are hard to avoid. There may be some placebo effect here, but I think they do help reduce the "crash" aspect when hitting unavoidable rough spots. The dash doesn't seem to make as much noise as it did without them. Figured if Mini saw a structural improvement with the convertibles, they should theoretically help the hardtop Mini's. A strut bar is planned for the future to help further. Or so I think

I removed the faded and cracked checkers from my roof. That was a real pain. I removed them with a heat gun and a plastic spatula. The glue I removed with lots of goo gone. I think I will go with a sunroof decal. Also, I got my Enkei RPF1 and BF Goodrich Gforce comp2 tires. Also, I painted my rearview mirror Cardinal red from Ace Hardware. It is a very close match to my Chili Red mirrors. I am awaiting my G2 caliper paint from Amazon.
