I took the day off work and tackled a project that has been in the waiting for a while.

I’m part way done changing the supercharger oil, water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing, cooling hoses, intake tube, bypass valve etc. I would have had it back together tonight, but the map sensor allen bolts busted clean off. I’m changing both air tubes that run over to the intake tube.

I’m sure I’ll be on Sewell’s site tonight ordering new bolts, the bracket they screw into etc. I also found another tube with a severe wear mark that I’m just going to replace. I pretty much expected something to happen digging this deep into the bowels of the beast.

Got my new Mini Friday. First cleanup and found pin head size black specs in rear trunk area. Used my Macguire cleaner that always worked on my other car but not with these. Any experienced folks that can help me?

At 50K miles, installed antennae #3.

MINI original rotted out at 30K. Installed a Go-Badges carbon-fiber stubby that had begun to de-laminate. Now I've installed an Out-Motoring stubby.

The rear of the MINI is (in)famous for that. You need to use detailing clay to clean off the specks. Just about any auto parts store will carry Meguiar's "Smooth Surface" Clay Kit, and it works great.

BUSTER came back home to his cozy garage and we left all that dreadful hail damage at the body shop. All the damage was removed and we back to normal.

Dropped it off at the shop this morning to have Koni FSDs and Hotchkiss Comp RSB installed. When it's done there, I'll be driving it over to another shop to have some Pilot Super Sports (and one new wheel, because of a bent rim) put on. Between the shocks/struts, RSB and new, non-runflat tires, I am cautiously hopeful for a significant upgrade in both comfort AND performance.

Took my two day old Mini back to dealer with paint issue. Found about 12 pin head size black specks in rear area of car. They could not clear them. They said it's in the paint. Seems like the only option is to try again. My car is silver white. Really depressed right now. Anyone experienced this?

Are you the first owner or is it just 2 days old to you? That sounds like a weird factory paint defect.

Yes,,,first owner. Picked up on Friday and found the specks Saturday. Took back this Morning. Factory defect is suspected. It spent three weeks at Brunswick Ga center. I'm suspecting thats why it was there so long. They were trying to make a decision on what to do. They want the car as soon as they line up an expert. I'm going to have some sort of decision to make but not sure what options they will give me. Either build me another one or cash settlement.

One of the salesmen at my local dealership told me a few weeks ago MINI had put a hold on cars with contrasting colored roofs because of an issue painting them at the factory. He did say he suspected it was an overspray defect but there was no official reason, only that orders being filled were for cars with body colored roofs. It sounds like this might be one that slipped through before they put a hold on them.

Sad,,I waited close to four months for this car. They are trying to convince me it was done by the carrier.

Do they really think someone will believe the shipping company caused something that appears to be a factory paint defect to the vehicle? tsk, tsk.

I better zip it up. They have been good to me so far. If it does not play out as factory defect then I unzip my experience.

First set of new wiper blades in 6 years. Blade surface was good but was separating from the base so was time for new ones. Also order a proper horn, hoping to get it in this weekend.

Changed the oil and the "lifetime" transmission fluid. 2 1/2 qts out, 2 1/2 qts in of Royal Purple Max ATF. Ran it then 2 1/2 qts out, then 2 1/2 qts of Royal Purple Max ATF in. In a few days, a few more of these cycles and most of the fluid should be better

Just got it a week ago so today was my first day to knock out a few things, managed to: replace license plate lights with led's and new lenses, replace the side markers and install new bulbs, put led's in the drl, fix an issue I was having with a boost gauge, and take my rear seats out. Pretty good first day

Wheels look pretty good.

Today I Seafoamed the car... hoping that helps with the cloud of black smoke I'm getting from the exhaust when I went on it.
