I reprogrammed the auto-up module that I bought years ago from Ian Cull so that it would disable the DSC on start-up. After driving around in a Jeep with a normal cable-operated throttle, I've grown kind of tired about the (quite honestly, horrible) throttle response on the MINI. It makes the car harder to drive smoothly in stop and go situations with the throttle lagging the way it does. And to make matters worse, the DSC likes to kick in at the slightest hint of wheelspin - so if I'm trying to pull out into traffic that's a real bummer.

I like that Ian's circuit provides for a "track-mode" to disable the DSC.

Got out of my car at a shopping centre and saw that my antenna was limp. The metal snapped off at the base, and the rest was dangling from the rubber casing. Luckily, there was enough of the antenna sticking out of the base that I could unscrew what was left of it.

So, I bought my MINI a new MINI Sport Antenna and got everything fixed up!

Also, I cleaned some bird poop off my front bonnet emblem. Some bird had some good aim.

Oh yeah...and yesterday I put on my "Objects in Mirror Are Losing" and "Panic" button stickers from Stuck On Minis!! I also tried to put a WHEE!!! sticker on, but managed to put it on backwards and had to order another one. LOL.

Nice! On the other hand, you could've put the EEHW! sticker next to the bird poop and called it done.

Last night I installed my PIAA fog light bulbs. It was more difficult that I expected, but well worth the effort. I'll post pictures when I have the time to take them.

Mini got an owie

Left the wife's 2010 S convertible at the body shop for a few days, courtesy of Bambi. Car drives, but needs $3100 worth of parts, labor and paint.
Wife is beside herself. I've tried to explain that nothing important was damaged, that everything is parts that bolt on to the car, quarter panel, hood, wheelwell trim, bumper cover... but she keeps calling it a wreck.
Worst of all she has this vivid image of the deer flying through the air and tumbling down the road in front of her. It got up and ran into the woods, but it had to have internal injuries, so she is more than a little distraught over that.
On Monday she smashed her toe on a brick retaining wall and is convinced it is broken, so not a good week so far.

This is one of my fears, too! You have my sympathy!

...the standard Halogen headlamps are garbage...
Agreed! I have the Xenons on my '06, but friends have the halogens. Researching those bulbs themselves, while you can get cheap supposed-to-be-brighter bulbs, in that bulb configuration they're likewise not great.

Good alternative: 4-light Light bar mounted at bumper height with (4) hella 500's, two fogs in the outer positions aimed outward a bit (to supplement the low beams) and two driving beams mounted center and aimed slightly off the current high beams (to broaden and lengthen their "throw"). While there are a MYRIAD of H3 bulbs to choose from, I've had great luck (longevity and light) with the standard Hella 100W bulbs, when aimed properly they're not obtrusive to oncoming drivers, and throw a bunch of light. Downside is you have this bolt-on appendage full of lights on the front of the car, which some folks don't like.

Mounting at bumper height doesn't disturb cooling airflow, and puts the lights midway between "best for distance" (up higher) and best-for-fog (down lower).

This week took my wife 2004 mcs found out suspension was hell, brought her to the garage verdict 4 corners are dead, front wishbone rear bushing dead Oh, and driver side Tie-rod Dead!!!!! She thought it drove funny came here for info, found out about h&r touring cup kit, and camber arms thought I was done, but looking at the car myself found out that the Front Upper Strut Mount on the passenger car was completely ripped and that the driver side started to show tear, Oh I also found a new exhaust line for the car (that one I new about ) and finally found a line of rust on the passenger car door, had the front painted last winter (she turned over because of snow) and all back side just got painted a month ago ( to take care of the rust problem under taillight and trunk handle plus bumper she backed in my blazer) Oh and found out I had to change the oil in supercharger (thought lifetime meant longer than 8 years at 15000 a year silly me )

Oh and just about to start crying after resuming all of that God It's been a shitty week

This is the route I'd like to go with mine (when the $$$$$$ is available), though I'd aim them a bit differently:

Centers - straight ahead, aimed a hair "longer" than the low beams
Outers - slightly cross-eyed, aimed to hit ground at about the same distance as the high beams and cross at about the same distance as where the low-beams hit the ground.

Switched separately, both with an ON-OFF-ON switch letting them be on, off, or on when high beams are on.

Rationale: having them a little cross-eyed lets the outside lamp shine around the corner a little at night, kinda like the center headlight on a Tucker. Lots of coyotes wandering around at night out here in cactusland.... Switching them separately means you have the ability to use or not use the higher-aimed cross-eyed lights depending on the situation....

C ya,
Dutch

Just put on some new Goodyear Eagle GT's. Got a 2" lift kit and some 10mm spacers, so I put some 235/50R18's on. I think it looks awesome, plus the run-flats are gone.

Side profile pic's wanted... How much rubber can you fit with the lift? I would probably go the other way if I where to buy a CM, but this might be pretty cool.

That's actually as far as I would go. Any larger diameter and the rear tire will rub on the front of the wheel well. I did some math, with the help of the miata tire size calculator, and the one size up tire actually puts the speedometer right on track instead of 3 mph slow.

Reminds me of a Mini I saw a few months ago in Worcester, MA.

Okay, in all fairness, those look like snow tires, and, as my wife would be quick to point out, it is hard to look your best in ugly shoes.
