Pulled the power steering pump's muffin fan. Found it binding and turned it back and forth both right side up and upside down until it turned freely again. I bet this is why my PS was cutting out in the afternoon yesterday and today.

I placed it on the front passenger floor and pulled fuse #41 to prevent the power steering pump from running. Will be picking up a new fan ASAP.

C ya,
Dutch

Installed a NM Hi-Flow Intake and Turbo Heat Shield. Also put on a stubby antenna.

New tires! Bridgestone Ecopias - and no, I'm certainly not going out autocrossing with those. They feel really good, though, and are impressively quiet.

Also, picked up the Mini since it was in to get the walnut shell blasting done. Runs as if I got it from day 1

there is NO SILICONE in WD-40

WD stands for WATER DISPLACEMENT and the 40 is the 40th formulation

it is basically kerosene plus a propellant and was devleoped for the us military to DISPLACE WATER in electrical systems contacts

definitly NOT A LUBE

it does remove road tar very well, but it also removes the wax too and if not washed off attracts dirt

This was DONE to my MINI Not by me but by a driver (in a Honda Ridgeline) who decided it would be cool to cross my path of travel from a side street. I ran right into him with little to no time to stop and t-boned him.

Interestingly enough my airbags did NOT deploy but his side curtain airbag did.

Damage not seen in picture:

Bent passenger side front frame rail.
Busted altenator
Bent passenger side engine mount.
Busted intercooler and radiator
Busted passenger side front suspension
Busted and scraped front wheels
Bent engine bay firewall
Tweaked driver's side door

So far $11k in repair cost. Only positive so far is that I'm upgrading my "S" bumper to the "JCW" to go along with the JCW tuning kit installed at purchase.

roushraven :
I am so sorry this happened.
Although your air bags did not deploy, you were not injured, were you?
I hope that the repairs move forward satisfactorily and you are soon motoring on again!

BTW: A car pulled out in front of me yesterday, although I had plenty of time to brake.
They saw me and pulled out though.
I don't understand why people do that.

I have a sore neck/whiplash and my knees are a little sore from hitting the lower dash.

People are inattentive or preoccupied. It's for this reason that I do not have a motorcycle.

Installed a front grille badge holder. I was surprised at how easy it was to remove the grille., and you HAVE to remove the grille (for those of you contemplating grille badges).

Glad you're o.k. Hope the Ridgeline got off worse than you.

Ouch!

I worry constantly about my environmentalist son who does not drive at all, but rides a bicycle.
I passed him on the road once and never saw him.
He asked why I didn't honk and wave.

Get better soon, both you and your MINI.

I had some driver this morning think that they could come up along side of me in my Blindspot no less and make Molly part of their POS CR-V...I DON'T THINK SO *blaring horn got your attention*, next thing I know they are sandwiching themselves between me and the car in front of me...then...OH...guess I gotta' cross 3 lanes of traffic and EXIT Freeway!! What MORON does stuff like that??!!

BTW...sorry to hijack this thread!!

Hope you get better and your MINI gets all fixed up too!!

Little Wing had another spa day, is very shiny, but bored.
Hydro Wash, Hydro Seal...
The tire gel is a bit much.
My husband, who still hasn't noticed that the silver bonnet stripes are now black, asked me where I got the "tire bright."
I'm putting some on his tires tomorrow.

Need to get some motoring in soon.

BUT, this is exciting...see my Mickey & MINI 8 sig?
That's Little Wing when she first came home!

Your airbags did not deploy probably because the car detected that there was no passenger . all the force was absorbed by the passenger side and therefor the car tried to save you some repairs If your collision area was a bit more to the center of the car (like my accident) most probably the airbags would pop out

Good that your ok

Off Topic a bit: LittleWing, encourage your son to take the Cycling Savvy course that the Florida Bicycle Association sponsors (regardless of his skill level). You'll both feel better. It's a game-changer, and improves safety exponentially.

No, calipers are the original color, the front rotors were rusting, so I knocked off the excess rust w/ a wire bristle brush and sprayed the fins and hub of the rotor rustoleum gloss black. The rears look to be zinc plated and look good. I'll get a pic tonight.

As for removing bug guts, window cleaner. It will soften up the residue to where it will just wipe off. I recommend doing a quick wax on the areas sprayed w/ cleaner as the sulfates tend to break down the protectants.

Thank you so much!
I didn't know about this.
He refuses to learn how to drive, carbon footprint and all, but he doesn't mind asking for ride now and then.

All Little Wing has done today is get moved out of the way so that I could detail my husband's car. We need to motor!

Best pic I could get, painted the hubs and lightly dusted the vanes with rustoleum gloss black after wire brushing them:

Battling the DSC/TPMS light combo. Cleaning the sensors didn't help so I installed a new sensor on the left front since that sounds like the one that goes bad most often. Didn't fix it. Took the left front and put it on the right. Still no bueno. I'm either going to have to break down and get it scanned or order the rear and do the same thing. I wish you could run codes by turning the key 3 times.
