Left work early and got a text from my sister-in-law, she locked her keys in her car. I go up to her house to see if I can get them out. Leaving, i pulled out of her driveway, cars were coming but I had plenty of time. A big black truck passed the car infront of him and me. Then a jeep grand cherokee tried to do the same. By the time the jeep was next to me she lost control and side swiped me. She spun out and hit a tree. I was OK luckily but they had to cut her out and take her to the hospital.

The kicker was the black truck was her boyfriend and they were going less then a mile to drop off his truck at a garage. The jeep belonged to the girls boyfriends mother. I just mapped it out it was 0.3 miles from my siter-in-laws to the accident site. Funny thing, on the police report, the bf is one of the witnesses. He told the cops that the guy in front of him was going like 20mph in a 45mph. The guy he passed confirmed my story. Even the cop said and pointed at the jeep "she wasnt going 20mph with damage like that"

So i hope its not totalled.....I'll just lay down and bawl.

Ouch! That sucks... At least everyone was ok. Similar damage happened to my MINI and it cost about 2700 bucks to repair.

I installed a 17% pulley on my r53 yesterday. What a difference! Especially with the straight pipes, it goes faaaast Now to get it tuned....

I like your taste in wheels. I have the same ones but for winter use... Might swap them to summer use. Those 17 or 18"?

glad everyone is ok. the whole deal sucks for sure

I have a question for you though.
did your air bags deploy, and do you have them messed up passenger seat occupant sensor problem, and did the passenger airbag deploy even though there was no passenger?

no airbags went off, which i think is funny because isnt there a rear curtain airbag? I remembered seeing the components when i did by stereo.

Wow... You never know, huh? I had a lot of people almost rear end me a bunch, but then I got the third brake pulsar, and I haven't had any near misses since!
Unfortunately, it wouldn't have help you out here. Accidents happen. Hopefully everybody is OK.
Having said that, some people just suck. Some people shouldn't be allowed a license. I believe most people need to slow down, and take their time.
Since I drive a MINI, I understand being in a hurry. I drive like a crazy person sometimes, (as all good MINI owners should), but I don't do it around other drivers. I keep it under control until I find some empty, open road.
As a fellow Electric Blue owner, I'm heart-broken to see your MINI like that!
Hope it is fixed QUICKLY!! Keep us posted!

Ran the beach road from Pensacola to Destin yesterday and with the wind and blowing sand I spent an hour just vacuuming out sand on the inside. Then went to a power washer and got all the external sand out. Also vacuumed out the engine bay. All clean again.

Then on the way home a car cut me off big time. That was close. The car was following a camper (same plates, No. Carolina). I guess they were together.....and almost apart.

Idiot's.

Many drivers on the road today flat out terrify me. Many people don't give driving their car any more thought than when using a computer. Love my wife to death, but she uses the gas and break as on/off switches. Don't get me started on how her car is like a second bedroom...

I joke that we need to actually go back to less advance cars at times to teach people they are operating a machine, not playing a video game. Maybe that's just the farm boy in me.

No farm boy attitude, JUST COMMON SENSE.
That is one reason I'm selling my Harley. Hopefully it'll be gone by Wed.

Yeah, it really does seem as if a large number of people learned to drive in the Grand Theft Auto game, but as often as not, it's texting or some other distraction while driving that's the culprit. There's rarely a day where I *don't* see someone weaving, going way too slow, or head looking down instead of at the road when I'm on the freeway on my way to or from work....

Sorry to hear about your MINI getting clobbered, PA-MCS, but it will likely mend if the airbags didn't go off. Good luck!

C ya,
Dutch

Oh no, I am so sorry, but glad you are OK.
There are too many people in too much of a hurry. 17 years old and her life may be forever changed.
Hope you MINI is fixed quickly.

Lol maybe I just have a deathwish, but seeing drivers like that makes me wish I had my bike back again (needs motor work, which hopefully will be done by the time I get back lol). So much more nimble on a bike, and I'm still young with sharp reflexes

O....M....G.... You mean the idiot BF actuallly tried to sell THAT amount of damage to her jeep as a 20mph crash? I wish I had ***** that brassy. At least the cop knew he was being snowed. You didnt include pics of your car... but, I hope you dont have to get another, although if the damage is bad enough, maybe you'll be glad you did.

I attached it to my post 6850. I take it to the insurance adjusters tomorrow, so i have my fingers crossed. If they do total it I know that it would be nearly impossible to find another like it, with each mini being unique and all.

that accident seems pretty brutal, but glad you're ok.
It appears people are given licenses by just showing up to the test and putting their car in drive.

I've done so much to my mini and just forget to take pictures of the weekly work that's put into it...

Good news!! my mini wont be totaled!!! Right now the estimate is around $3200. But that is without seeing what is messed up behind the door. They said that would be the most expensive part and could double, worse case scenario. But with the $3200 its only 20% of the value of the car so its a ways off from being cheaper to replace the entire car.

Now all can do is now is wait for the insurance companies to get on the ball

No more micro bread van!

New NM Alpha springs installed, with similar results to the many other posts. Lowered just enough, with a bit more settle to come, no bad effect on the ride, a nice boost to handling, and what I've noticed most: dive / squat are just about eliminated. Great mod! Photos when I get a chance.
