on a 1-10 scale, how difficult was it to put on the roof graphic? I've been contemplating buying one for a few months now. I just don't want to have to pay someone else to put it on. They're expensive enough in the first place.

actually yesterday - attended our first MINI rally
Sponsored by PhillyMINI.org - Extremely well organized - great rally!
This was our first rally. We had a great time - thanks to Scott, Del and everyone who organized this rally!

Some observations:
- the people were very nice but i knew this would be the case
- the Silly Sign Rally was fun (and hard)!
- there weren't as many red MINIs as i expected
- there were more convertibles than i expected
- there were more clubmans that i expected
- MINI makes a lot of different colors, especially blue
- we were having such a good time we signed up for the ball game during lunch
- we got our first duck - someone please give me some "duck" history

If you are just doing the sun roof section with a perforated graphic, it is super easy! It took me less than half an hour with some help from my wife. The nice thing about the perforated graphics is that you don't have to worry about fighting bubbles and you can see the edge of the glass through the holes, making it easier to trim. I also did my own stripes and that was a much tougher job because of the curves and avoiding bubbles.

Took my MINI in for an estimate on a full bonnet wrap and full bumper wrap. The bonnet is going to be custom so its wrapped around the edges and under the trim work so u see no lines at all.

Congrats, on your first run! They are rather addicting... I noticed that SGT P3PR was there - a PW Clubman. She came to LI for my run and probably could have filled you in on the Duck thing. In short, the rubber ducks were a tradition started by Ed "MAXAMINI" Smith from NEMINI, MINI2 and other boards. I never met him personally, but he was quite the MINIAC and went on many runs. He began handing out rubber ducks at runs after visiting this duck on Long Island:

While standing at this duck with MINI friends, someone commented on what a big duck it was. Ed's response: "No, we're just MINI people!". His death in 2005 was unexpected and deeply felt by many MINI owners. It was his story that had a lot to do with me starting a run of my own...

Here's a link in memory of Ed if you're interested:

Tonight I dropped my subframe, broke off my passenger side steering rack tie rod bolt, removed my control arms, replaced control arm bushings with powerflex, removed the front calipers and brake lines, replaced front brake lines with braided lines, and replaced the transmission mount bushing with powerflex.

I took the MINI to Vinyl Styles and got it pimped out by Lyle. He did the headlights, tail lights, beltline, front grill surrounds, gas cap, and some SICK "carbon fiber" scuttles and tinted side markers. I was working from his waiting room and was thinking it would take a couple of hours. When he came in after an hour and said he was done I was stunned. When I took a look at his work I was even more stunned. It was like a totally different car. Mad props to Lyle, he really is the wrap master. I'll post some better pics later, all I had was my phone at the time.

Got Nudnik some nice tint. The a/c won't have to fight the sun quite so hard now, which means nice frosty air all summer long.... :D

Pixs soon....

My standard mini Mini detail. Wash, spray wax, clean the interior, vacuum and clean the glass. I like a clean car going into the weekend.

I dropped the old (probably original) transmission oil--it's got nearly 50k on it, so I figured it was time. It wasn't *too* dark but it was a bit brown.

I put in Redline MTL to replace it, and it shifts smoother now, and the car even has a little more "poop" when you put your foot on the go pedal now, so the new oil is definitely slipperier than the old stuff. It also modified and nearly silenced the little bit of input shaft bearing noise I've been getting lately, making the noise sound less rattly, smoother, and much quieter.

C ya,
Dutch

I put in my new set of smoked side markers (courtesy of OutMotoring.com); it's amazing how much better the profile looks without that bit of orange breaking up the color scheme.

Changed oil and filter.
Changed gear oil and installed magnetized drain plug
Swapped front pads
Cleaned out the catch can and found the bottom plug missing (!)
Installed a set of Powerflex rear trailing arm bushings.
Cleaned and re-oiled the ITG air filter
General under-bonnet tidy up.

Today I did EBC redstuff pads all the way around and Powerslot slotted rotors all the way around. After that I changed my oil with Amsoil 5w-30. Next it wasn't my MINI but a friends I changed her oil with the same Amsoil 5w-30. Next I went to a MINI meet. When I got home I reset the ECU so it is no longer giving me the service warning on the tach. Busy day. I wanted to do more but, I ran out of time. Well there is always another day.

Put on new wheels and tires.

17" Enkei Imolas wrapped with Hankook Ventus.

What a difference from the 16" run flats, so much smoother and quieter. It is incredible. I did not hear any road noise driving back.
