Cleaned out the garage and sorted things out. Got rid of Volvo and Miata parts. Both cars were sold and replaced with the MINI 2 years ago.

 

Washed the CountryMan and the S Coupe and put on Griots Speed Shine. Will detail the interiors tomorrow. Love to detail the Mini's.

 

found a self-wash place with good pressure sprays near my new New England home... so today she got a spray down to get some of the road salt and junk off her... going to be a while before it warms up enough here to do a proper wash... *brrrrrrrrrr*

 

Left it at the dealer no gauges...

 

New rear tires for inspection purposes on my 2008. They came from my spare of wheels for my 2012. Now I may have my 17 inch ASA AR1 chrome wheels for sale.

 

So my ASA's may be heading to a new home? I loved those wheels, especially at night, but just decided to go in the black direction with my car. Here are a couple of pics from when I had them.

NO.....not those. They are still on my beloved 2008. We get compliments on those all the time! I bought a set of used 17 inch ASA AR1 chrome wheels for my 2012. I'm thinking of selling these not the ones purchased from you Albie. The face is good and chrome is good. Unfortunately there is some pitting where the face screws are and the barrel has some flaking. Never really liked the wheels but I bought them from another Mini enthusiast. You know we change preferences all the time. These wheels are great from 10 feet and they polish great too. No issue with on car appearance at all. They are really good for snows, racing, a second set or truly for everyday driving as they are straight and true. Probably looking to sell at $295.00 for all four. Not including shipping. Nope , still love the ones we bought from you! Thanks again!

 

Duh - I read that too quickly. AR1's are not AR3's!!! The pics above are of AR3's and they are not for sale!!! I repeat - AR3's are not being sold by mini coop! Sorry man!

I feel your pain. I would have gotten one today as well but we're going to get clobbered with snow tomorrow morning so I'll just use the time saved to enjoy some beer at home.

 

Installed a new set of rear brake pads (Akebono) and tied off the sensor; about 46k miles on the originals (fronts were done by MINI at 30k under the service plan).

Funny story: the service countdown counter was b_tching about a need during my recent roundtrip to Iowa. I thought it was the rear brake service reminder finally counting down from "1500 miles to go" that it had been sitting on since 23k miles. When I went after them, the inside pads were more worn of course than the outsides, but still looked to have a few thousand left.

It was when I went to reset the service reminder that I realized: it had been counting down the oil change need, not the pads! I'd forgotten to reset it when I changed the oil before the trip. So I reset them both and should be gtg.

I did buy one of those caliper-piston-retractor spinner tools, very helpful, as were the instructional DIYs posted here.

 

I've heard about those sensors being weak and serving no purpose for those who bother to check their own brakes. Did tying off the sensors work well or are there any issues to deal with as a result?

 

Yesterday. Installed my Forge intercooler and oil change.

 

These are my wheels now. The surface is machined with gloss black accents between the mesh and in the barrel. Really nice when cleaned up and with Pepper White they look great. See my pictures posted above.

Busy day for the Kid after about 3 weeks of sitting in the garage waiting on parts. While he sat, I blacked out the side markers with some VHT Night Shade and painted the rear calipers black with some POR 15.



Today, strut mounts went in on both sides up front, Wilwood 12.2 BBK up front and I adjusted my Koni Yellows to full soft. Ride is like night and day since they were installed at full stiff - not what I asked for when they were installed...







Too bad that black e-coating is now mostly gone - the black rotor looked pretty cool.

 

After a week of countless canyon/mountain runs I went ahead and gave it a wash

 

A well deserved wash, I'm sure. I wish it would stop snowing here long enough for my Roadster to stay clean for more than a day after a good washing.

 

Definitely! We just had 3 days of rain, but that's nothing compared to what you guys get I hope you guys get good weather soon!

I can't wait to get the top down on my Roaster and increase my top down driving time. This winter is killing me.

I just finished my R53 to JCW brake upgrade! It took me a couple weeks to do. I could only get in 30-45 minutes here and there to clean the calipers and paint them. I decided today was MY day and I used the whole time to get it done. Also added the stainless steel brake lines to all 4 corners. Bled the brakes out and put fresh Mutol 600 in. Now its time to seat the Red Stuff pads.
