What did you do to your mini today?
I didn't realize you were already down here. Still interested in the joey mod? Also, a SoCal Mini Maniacs meet may be order.
I'll admit that I had to say it out loud before I wrote it!
That "wahwah" is actually the exact same effect as the whistle you get while blowing across the top of an empty bottle, only at a much lower frequency due to the large interior volume of the car.
What'd I do? Built up some Mini trophies for the MOTD Dragon Draggin' event...
Heck yeah I'm still interested. When are the meets?
Way MOTOR Works troublesome
Anyone familiar with Way Motor Works in Atlanta? I'm all too familiar now and have to let you know to watch out for this slick talker owner, Waylen.
I drive a JCW stick, but my lady has a 2010 MCS convertible w/ paddles.
She complained of the car hopping around too much on bumpy roads so I got in touch with WAY.
He recommended what sounded like a dandy suspension upgrade and told us to have it installed at a particular shop near us that he works with in Rockville MD. He has been to the shop to train them and has an ongoing relationship with them.
He told me to figure 2 1/2 - 3 hours labor. So , we happily ordered the package, you know, completely under the impression the shop was aligned on labor. Well, this shop, and they are good people with a great local reputation, told us to figure a full day job. Wow were we surprised. I confirmed the labor with another excellent shop in Northern VA. We lost interest real quick!
I told WAY what was going on and that we were returning the box unopened. He said you should have called them first. DOH!
He refused to accept it without a 20% restock fee. We thought that was B.S. since he sold us the parts by low-balling the labor. Bad news Waylen...
Is the 20% gonna change either of our lives? Hardly.
But this type of creepy business practice means we'll never recommend Way to anyone.
Heads up and beware of this dude.

Sorry I had to... that's what I went through.
Oh that posting about Way TICKS ME OFF!!!!
This is why people are so ignorant now and days, WHY is it HIS fault that a shop (that he does not own or work at) quoted you a different price? Shouldn't you have checked on that FIRST????? SO blame HIM????
And the 20% re stocking fee, let me ask you this, how would you feel if he sent you a box of goods at full price was already opened and dug around in?
Oh I could only guess how you would feel. So he should eat the cost from your lack of follow through?
That's whats wrong with people now, it's everyone else's fault or problem.
ticks me off
gotta run the wife is telling me I have to go get the milk already..........

Never had a problem with Way. Always been up front with me and
quick to get orders out.
I agree, the op probably should have checked with the place doing
the work since I really doubt if Way has that much controll over their
work ability.
Way has probably done many suspension upgrades so he already knows
all the little in's and out's of an install which as we all know, the more
you do something the better at it you get.
Sorry the op is unhappy with what transpired but it won't change my
attitude toward WayMotorWorks.
Got a feeling that post is going stir up some ill feelings.

I've bought quite a few parts from him, and met the guy quite a few times up at MITM. Never have I had a problem with him his shipping or his way of conducting buisness.
Ask yourself who dosent have a restock fee on returned merchandice? Its kind of like ordering a pizza then calling 15 minutes later to say you arent going to be home. Shuld the supplier of the parts eat that cost, then have open stock sitting on a shelf for who knows how long because it cant be sold as new? NO! To me it sounds like you shuld have checked the install shops labor rates before making any decisions. If they couldnt match WAY's estimated from experiance time to install, that's not WAY's fault nor problem. It is things like this YOU as a consumer should be aware of, before making any decisions, or basing a price off of a shop hundreds of miles away that has no affiliation with who gave you the price quote.

To my mind, the best thing you can do is if you are not planning on installing the parts yourself, find yourself an excellent independent shop (or even better, one that races or has worked for customers that race MINIs) that has done the kind of work you need, and can order the parts. You will likely get a better price than from a MINI online reseller, have a better guarantee, and will get an accurate price quote ahead of time.
I finally got my new tires mounted on my s-lites. I picked up some General G-Max AS-03's in 205/45/17 (which I'll be swapping to some 17x8 wheels by 1552 once they release them and I get my hands on them, some time in the next couple of months I hope).
Anyways, here's a quick iPhone shot since my wife and daughter weren't about to let me go to a proper shoot

Partly, among other things. My grandmother was part French Basque.
The family bearing her maiden name (Durrua) came from Agen, southeast of Bordeaux.
I figure *everybody* does the Brit thing, so even though I'm a *distant* relative of the royals, why not do my own thing. Plus, my grandmother was the best grandmother in the history of all grandmothers ever anywhere, anywhen....
C ya,
Dutch

The weather here in Ohio has been just awesome. I work from home, so, in between designing a 6" NRM extruder straight delivery swing head, I have been doing the final little things to get ready for MOTD. AFE air filter cleaned and re-oiled. Driving light bar, re-installed. Android phone mount re-worked to film with Kiwi, obd2 blue tooth and Torque app. Bridgestone RE-11's mounted to white Holies that now have 2 coats of WheelWax. Good week. Oh, and house cleaned, dinner cooked, 3 sons bikes tuned and aired up. Plan to take my understanding wife out on a date Sat. night.
Took him in to get an estimate for damages that occured on I-95 last evening. Ran over a truck tire at 70+ mph. Damaged intercooler, AC compressor, lower grill and fog light assembly.
Not the way I wanted to start my vacation.

To help you fix the problem, here's what I'll do.
Pack that stuff in your car, come up to my place, and I'll install it for free.
Way's a great guy, and a great resource to the MINI community.
