I ordered a 15% pulley, upper and lower motor mounts, a new oil pan gasket and Ian Cull's auto up chip...

Looking forward to trying to tackle these projects on myself in the next couple of weeks. Hope I can do them without screwing anything up. I will pretty much do them all at the same time...

Changed my oil, adjusted my HR Rear Control Arms (they had too much camber after lowering) and finished installing this...

I couldn't figure out a good way to mount the tank, so I used locking cable to "strap" it down.

I made my own gage bracket. I'm thinking of moving the gage in a bit, thoughts?

Fast Acting Valve, next to the battery.

I really didnt get any of it, I'm on the northeast end of Thornton. I was seeing more body dust than smoke. I feel bad for the people who live around there though, having mountain property myself you always have to worry about stuff like that.

i'm about 10 miles form Fire, and we got pounded with smoke. My office smells like a camp fire right now. We went from day light to a nice red haze covered sky.

New Brakes

Not today but last weekend I replaced my brakes & rotors. Went with slotted & cross-drilled ventilated rotors w/ upgraded ceramic pads. Should reduce the dusting. Big improvement in braking - Love it! My caliper paint had really held up well for the past two years but thought I would freshened them up also while I had everything apart.

Front

Rear

Anyone need brake sensors? They came with my brakes but my '02 MCS doesn't use them. I'll let them go for your shipping cost, I'd hate to just throw them away. There are three, I assume 2 fronts & 1 rear but I'm not sure since my car doesn't have them.

Paint is Red Dupli-Color Ceramic Caliper paint. The kit (brush on paint) sells for $20 @ AutoZone. The kit comes w/ cleaner, paint etc. When I first painted them I used the supplied cleaner, (it's just brake cleaner) with a stiff bristle brush then did a final clean with lacquer thinner. It takes 2 to 3 coats, depending on the roughness of your caliper casting (1 hour dry between coats). When it drys all the brush marks are gone, paint is smooth & shinny. When I re-coated them during the brake job I just cleaned the calipers with brake cleaner. The brake cleaner will soften the old paint so the fresh coat bonds really well to the old paint. After 2 years I had no flaking, just a few chips from the mechanics banging the wheels on the calipers when they did my yearly NY State inspection. By the way, I also used this same paint on the calipers on my street rod about 5-6 years ago and haven't had to freshen them since it doesn't see rain or snow like my MCS.

As for the slotted & crossed drilled rotors, I don't notice any increased noise over the stock rotors just better stopping.

dropped my car off at the body shop yesterday to have the rear bumper fixed from some woman hitting it while it was parked in a parking lot she tried to run but I caught her, stupid little woman in a big Mercedes SUV that could barely see over the wheel uggh they should require special licenses to drive SUV's.

Anyways, I got the estimate done at one shop (the Geico shop) then dropped it off at a buddy's shop (if I had gone through my own insurance and paid the deductible I could have just gone through my buddy). The rear bumper will be smoothed where it was hit and re-sprayed, he's also installing my new GP rear valence (the pass. side rear flare was cracked from her so there's a little extra cash in my pocket since I already had the GP one waiting ), and while he has it I'm having him spray the scoop and mirrors chili red to stand out on the pepper white... looking fwd to that, he said it won't be done til Thursday and I'm already missing it the Yaris rental they gave me is just horrendous, can't wait to get my Mini back.

A plastic bucket fell out of the back of a pick up truck that was ahead of me on the freeway. I swerved to avoid it and it glanced off of the passenger side door. It didn't leave a dent, but it left some scuff marks in the clear coat.

I spent the afternoon polishing the scuffs out of the paint with a 6" orbital polisher. It came out lookin' good!

Good deal on the fix. How are those Megans doing? Did they settle much since your install? Pics looked very nice. I'm dropping mine off in about an hour and they are installing all my goodies tomorrow. Can't wait.
