What did you do to your mini today?
Drove with the sunroof and windows full-open... in Pittsburgh in mid MARCH. Heading for a high of 80 today. If this is global warming, bring it on!
(umm, wait, what will August be like?)

So what did you get? Just a warning... dslr's are worse than Mini's, you'll keep buying more stuff for it, first a fancy circular polarizer filter, then a nifty 50mm f/1.8 lens, then another lens, then you'll try to find ways to get your hands on a 200mm f/2VR lens ($6000+ new, $4000 used, talk about a deal!
) it's a sickness, or maybe that's just me
I do love the way the black accents look on that BRG, such a nice combo.
Looks great
I dislike my R53 chrome scuttles and will be doing the same pretty soon, but I must say those larger ones (R56?) are even worse, it's like the designers played a joke on us after realizing how many Mini owners complained about the chrome and painted them black on the older generations

Just thought the scuttles definitely needed a change. It doesn't take very long to do, the scuttles come off in about 30 seconds, just a push forward with the bonnet open and unscrew the bulb from the housing, lamp housing pops out and it takes about an hour-ish to get 4 coats on, let em dry for a few hours and you're good, it doesn't take too much effort to do it, just the time to have your car looking ugly without them on.
So does it make really that much differance in the sound?
Nope, I'm the one who did it. My brain didn't get my foot and my hand coordinated. That's my doing all the way.
I'm glad I had the paper towels with me in the car, I got it cleaned up quickly.

car as well as in my pu truck. Can't count how many times I've needed
them.
Wish I had been the one whom invented them.
i think soo you can hear the turbo spool up a little more.......but i didnt get it for that just wanted a better filter....and didnt like any of the cai systems currently out there...so i just went with this....works for me

C ya,

Thanks: They are 18"X8" with 215X40X18 Continental extreme contact DWS tires. Stick like glue around corners, even in wet. I also had 4-Wheel alignment done - car is stable, faster-the-better, yet responds instantly to steering inputs.
The KONI FSD shocks and struts, plus upper and lower strut/frame bracing makes the car solid, smooth, yet good control of body roll. Patchy pavement, RR tracks etc are nothing now. Also have 22mm anti-roll bar and the usual Stage II performance package (Madness).
Removed my sunroof pop-up wind screen today. SO MUCH BETTER!!!
I had a horrible whistle above 50mph that may have been caused by my roof racks (not the rack themselves but some sort of air deflection.) I noticed when I reached up and pulled the screen down the whistle went away.
Removed the screen and now I can drive 80mph with the roof wide open (that's with OEM roof racks and two bike trays).
Sounds silly, but that little screen blocked a lot of sky too
Only caveat...must have at least one window cracked, otherwise it causes a nasty wahwahwahwah effect.

Also, finally plasti'd my Thule bike trays this evening (final black-out), but I'm waiting for the second one to dry before I snap pictures.

Easy to remove and reinstall - release screen by pressing tabs down and pulling plastic back, then squeeze springs clips and slide forward. Done!
Mine was no different...it only seemed to be an efficient bug catcher and whistle (not to mention it looked a bit silly).

The wahwah effect (I think you should patent that term, BTW) seems to be the only downside but if I have the sunroof open, the windows are all the way down anyway! My Suburban has no windscreen and does the same thing with no other windows open. Thanks for the tip!
I hand washed the MINI ALL winter...
