Chunky hit the first 1000 miles recently. I changed his oil and filter today. Then I first bath today. After the bath, I vacuumed the inside. Applied Plexus on the head lights. Applied BlackWow on the black trim.
The rear half, which I picked up about 2 months ago for an incredibly reasonable price, uses a v-band clamp to hook it up to the "straight" pipe (that didn't come with it).
The local exhaust shop made me a pipe and flared out the end to give the clamp something to work with. It worked fine for about a week, then started to leak and rattle.
A $2 header flange gasket (and a little bit of tin snips work) provided me with a nice round gasket that I could put between the flange on the rear half and the flare on the "straight" pipe to seal it. So far, so good....
Learned how inaccurate the fuel gauge is this weekend. There was still 2 bars left and it just went red, and I filled 14 gallons into the supposed 13.2gal tank.
So I guess I was close to being stranded on the side of the road without knowing it.

WHAT !? I almost always wait until i have 2 bars left, or it turns red...Fill up at this point gets me 12+ gallons...exactly how many gallons does each bar represent? I've noticed it takes longer for the first ones to unlight. What did your readout say?

Thats how all my previous cars worked too. Once the warning comes on, I always had ~2-3 gallons left, and I have unintentially confirmed that by driving till I was on fumes on each of the cars before.
On the Mini, I dont' think its consistent from car to car waht the bars represent and how 'off' the guage is cause I was doing a search and saw a post where someone's older Mini would go red, and he could still drive ~60miles on it. But on his newer Mini, he tried driving with 2 bars left, and got stranded on the side of the road with 1 bar still showing.
So I'm going to start just filling up with at least 3 bars left from now on.
Got back from AMVIV8 after a great time with a great bunch of MINI folks. Had Vinyl Styles add some front end bling to nose while there to tie the top to the bottom... As cool as it is, who needs the JCW front anyway........

Nice. His stuff is top notch. I just bought some 3M black electrical tape on my way home so I can see if I like a blacked out beltline. If I like it and it doesn't hold up, I'll probably order Lyle's kit.

He's done my stripes, beltline and emblems and stripes on a previous MINI. I'd like him to do the headlight and tail light rings, gas cap and the grill surround. But who knows when he'll be back here. So I may Plasti-Dip the rest until I hear he's coming back.
