I notice that there appears to be a new part number, 22-11-8-835-574, that supersedes the Clubman JCW part number, 22-11-6-886-196:

That web site is a bit odd in its listings for this part. I looked up my 2019 JCW and got this part:
22-11-8-835-566

In the description this is said to be for the Countryman 2.0L not the Cooper JCW...
This same part number is also listed foxr the Cooper S, but still saying it is for the Countryman 2.0L...
And it is listed for the Countryman 2.0L

I then looked up the Countryman JCW and got
22-11-8-835-568

Which is also the same as the mount for the Clubman JCW
22-11-8-835-568

So is the description for the Cooper engine mount wrong? Did I miss something? Or are the parts the same for the Cooper and Countryman and, if that is the case, then why not use the Countryman JCW part as it is likely stronger given the higher HP.

That’s what the -196 part is, from the 300hp Clubman JCW. Same motor as the Countryman JCW, and this mount is use in the 1-series, etc. so I’m not surprised if it is the same on both the Clubman and Countryman.

I'm seeing that too. I just ordered one to check it out. EDIT: It’s on national back order with no ETA

Just noticed they also have inserts for the transmission mount.

That is great! Thanks for posting.

They have seen a need and have filled it... (every pun intended... ). I have a bunch of their bushing on my R56 and they have a bunch of bushing for the F56 suspension that I have had my eye on. They make a great product, so my guess would be these are well thought out as are their other products.

It appears that they also make a “race” version made out of their “black” material. Same web page, but it is listed in the dropdown menu for “type”.

Powerflex “race” bushings for the upper engine mount

Here’s the newest mount, 22-11-8-835-574. The metal in the center looks a little thicker, otherwise no obvious changes that I can see. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Has me thinking that the Powerflex inserts are a good idea.

Has anyone emptied out the liquid of the GP3/JCW countryman mount? My understanding was that the mount’s the same, but it’s a fully solid mount. That’s how it’s worded in the marketing information.

If someone reminds me in April, I can check what the GP’s part looks like.

Not sure what you mean by

.

Are you thinking that those come from the factory as a solid mount, with no liquid in them? Or that they have liquid in them and has anyone drained them and then refilled them with rubber to make them solid? I think in a previous post a while back someone did the drain and refilled them with rubber to make them solid. I seem to remember that didn’t work???

The JCW Countryman one was discussed a few posts above, at least for part number. If you look at yours, see if you can get a part number off it...

I mean I am under the impression that they are a solid mount with no liquid. From my reading, the only person I saw who emptied it out was not using the 300hp mount.

I will take a look at the part number when I can.

As there’s a lot of misconception in this thread, I am not worried about movement, that’s expected and needed. I am tired of the mounts failing by leaking though.

Following. Even on my wife's F56 non-S, this mount has been a problem.

I replaced the first one myself around 65k miles, now at 105k+ and I have a feeling it's leaking again. The Powerflex inserts are interesting; I'm a big fan of Powerflex stuff.

I've been waiting weeks for @ECSTuning to ship out the Powerflex upper engine mount inserts. Once a week I get an email blaming global supply chain. It's been in "Picked" status for two weeks. Support email told me it would ship Monday, then Tuesday, then stopped answering my emails asking for a status update.

If doesn't ship real soon I'm just cancelling my order. I'm not putting of this repair any longer.

Anyone know a vendor who actually has these in stock and is shipping?

Hello,

Just saw this and sorry for the delay. Its been crazy with getting things. I will help get this picked and get it out.

I know powerflex has had some delays getting parts from the UK. I saw it came in on the 24th, looks like powerflex said it would be here, then delayed and delayed.

I am always here if you have a problem and can help out.

Thank you so much! I was getting so frustrated. ECS has always been really on point for me in the past; I was frustrated by the poor communication more than the delay itself. I appreciate your help with this.

OEM Mount Options

Hey all,
Trying to wade into all the possibilities and part numbers. I got a '17 F56 JCW and want to upgrade to the beefiest OEM mount I can due to my current mount tearing. What part number should I go for that will actually fit my car? Thanks!!

I have been advised that both the upper right and rear engine mounts on my F56 S are leaking and need replacement. Replacement of the rear mount, which is hard to see and inspect, is about a quarter the cost to replace the upper right mount. This is very expensive and involved work. My car only has some 67K on it. The mounts are obviously a defective design. The Internet is rife with F56 owners reporting defective engine mounts. No car should have worn out engine mounts especially at this sort of mileage. Mini should act responsibly, immediately issue a service action, and pay the entire cost of replacing its defective engine mounts. Mini, where are you????

It might be worth looking at the NHTSA to see if they have anything listed. Maybe even report it. BMW/MINI will take no responsibility for anything until either the Gov’t or a lawsuit forces them into it. This is what happened with their CVT that was failing as early as 85K miles and it was an $8000 repair. It took a class action lawsuit to get them to acknowledge that they had a bad product and were responsible for it. We have one and I laughed when I saw how to make a claim. It appeared that they dragged the lawsuit out long enough that almost no cars would qualify.

I looked at the NHTSA to see if they have anything listed and found for 2015 they had several listings for failed engine mounts. I didn’t look at other years, but suspect the same. It might be worth it, if everyone on this thread who has had problems with the mounts, to report this issue to theNHTSA. Also pen a letter to MINI telling them that you have reported it. Maybe something will come of it. Maybe not, but if these are not reported then surely nothing will happen. Like the lottery... Got to play to win... Good luck with it. Mine are still good, but seem doomed to failure. So I will be watching this closely.

I traded my first MINI in because I had that same bad motor mount with less than 55000 miles on the car. I was pretty upset over it and traded it in for a Honda Civic. OMG, old man car, and the fun factor was just gone. 8 months later, I ordered a new JCW and got it Dec 2021. I loved my first MINI so much (other than that motor mount), and love this one even more. I'm just aware that I may have to spring for a new motor mount at some point. Doesn't make it right, I've just justified it as long term maintenance for the fun factor I have with my MINI.

I just replaced mine and let me tell you, its a very loose and flimsy rubber mount in the center. I imagine this is to suppress all the vibration of the wild 4cyl motor. I highly recommend the Powerflex inserts as they simply secure the rubber center and prevent movement. I imagine this will dramatically extend the life of the engine mount but also perhaps increase the vibrations felt from the motor as well. I wish I had installed them and now simply dont feel like tearing it all apart again.
Anyone running the inserts? Is the vibration all that bad? Is there noticeably less slop and engine jerking movement when goin on/off throttle with a manual?

Update on my mount testing. I’m currently running a new Transmission mount, filled with 3M Windo-Weld (55a-60a durometer) and a new engine also mount filled with 3M Windo-Weld, plus a custom CNC aluminum bumper/spacer to replace the original rubber bumper in the engine mount.

The vibration is a bit too much for me (especially pulling away from a stop in 1st or 2nd gear w/manual transmission).

This setup did solve a major complaint about my 17’ Clubman S ALL4 though. On certain freeway expansion joints I drive over routinely the car always had a weird floppy / cowl shake / reverberation that’s drove me nuts for years. I even went aftermarket springs/dampers (Bilstein B8) thinking it would solve it. It never did. Nor did adding the 2020 Clubman JCW underbody or strut tower braces 😬😬

So apparently the floppy, reverberation feeling was the engine/trans bouncing around. Agh! Anyway, that’s totally gone now. Cars feels better over bumps than it ever has.

Next attempt will be to remove the factory bumper in an engine mount and fill the entire thing with softer 30a durometer 2-part urethane. Hoping the softer urethane will decrease vibration, but keep the engine/trans from bouncing around. Gonna leave the filled trans mount for now.

Here’s a new trans mount filled with 3M Windo-Weld. Doesn’t feel too horrible stiff by hand. You can still move/flex the inner portion by hand.

But was my engine/trans flop just due to the trans mount - I’m not sure… The original wasn’t really in bad shape. It’s a very basic rubber mount with no tears. I bought the car when it was 3 years old with 30,000 miles and it “engine-flopped” even then. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not a great photo of my current engine mount.
