Ordered myself one of "those things" to try out and see if there is much difference.

Well, dyno results came back... 192 HP to the wheels . This is with a horrible tune btw... my torque chart looks like the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range .

Jesus head here I come! Anyone interested in watching an extremely small camera phone movie clip of the dyno, here ya go!

Depends on when Longboard's car is sorted out. Maybe last Sunday of the month meeting at the El Camino shopping Center? SCMM Meets there (With about 500 exotics) every last sunday of the month.

Solid run Nick. Great starting point. That's exactly what my Cooper pulled before we installed my Steve's head. So with a similar state of tune, should be a good camparo of deltas between the two heads

Defininately . I'm still not sure if i'm going to throw the cam in as well or just run it with the head. If I do use the cam, I should see 10-12 HP more than Longboard (That is until he blows me away with all the fancy new items Jan throws his way )

I'm confused Nick, it happens easily at times. In another thread I read that you are going with Steve's head since you purchased an Aero kit. In this thread it seems you are getting head # 3 from Jan.

I mean this in the niceist way, but HUH???

Yes, sorry...

If you're talking about my Dyno thread, I explained in that other thread that I changed my mind. It wasn't worth the hassle to me to deal with making sure Steve gave me the right head (He has several). Plus, he appearently had no idea we had made an appointment today to install his head. The El D head gives me a LOT more room. The valvetrain is rated to 10k RPM's .

Put that cam in and lets see what it does. It looks like your MTH is holding you back. To bad you couldn't re-flash the stock tune back in.

Depending were you go it can range from $500 to as high as $1500. Back when I researched installation cost I was shocked at the range of pricing.

If you are in so-cal I highly recommend Danny Darwichian from MiniCorsa. Danny is the only tech I trust my car with. He can handle anything you need done. You can reach him at 818-994-0338

No idea where you are located but if in SoCal give Danny at MiniCorsa a call. He's done a few of the Jesus heads now and while the shop may not be the most glamourous place he does great work and charges what I felt was a fair price.

Hey Nat,

How are the cables sounding? It takes about two weeks to get the full benefits of the DBS system once they are connected.

Steve at Steve's Auto Clinic also does head installs (And specializes in MINI). I've done a lot of work with him in the past on my MINI, and he's always done quality work. I believe he charges a flat rate for head installs. $400 or $500. Give him a call.

Hate to use all the clichés but....

It's like a veil has been lifted, there is a certain power that is now felt that was missing before. Lower lows without muddiness, less strident highs with a greater overall sense of space.

Just another hobby where spending tons more brings smaller incremental gain.

Well, the head's on, all I can say is WOW. Not only does my car sound like a turbojet engine at anything above 1200 RPM's, but it's SO much faster it's nuts... I can't wait for Dyno Numbers on Monday .

I didn't install the Cam, as we didn't have a way to make 100% sure that it was indeed a Schrick Cam and not a custom grind, we're doing a little more research, until then, i'll be using the stock cam. (I bought this Cam from a NAM member, and it came in a Custom Cam box, so... we didn't wanna chance anything.)

I'll be reflashing to stock software to make the comparision even with the other two cars that have the head, and i'll post #'s when I have them.

By changing the software flash you will be voiding the delta from your 192 run. Don't you want to know what the change was from just the head ? With a new flash in there how will you know what the head did for you and what the softare did ?

I'll post details on Monday after the dyno. In short, no, I'm not too concerned with the Delta

Ha ha ha We're not Acura owners........geeeeeeez. The MINI Cooper S is the 'S' and will always be the 'S' and that's all the car needs with 45 plus years of tuning! Good luck with the badge and subforum gnatster!

Have fun on Monday rustyboy155!

I like your thinking.

It should be a D for Devil.

A MINI Devil with Jesus inside!

Unfortunately, the MINI D nomenclature has already been annexed by the diesel folks.
