Drivetrain My build. Teaser photos and updates
well, mico update from shenanegins yesterday after mothers day duties.
Currently in Kansas city for work, so no "today" stuff.
Start out with, a little thick and thin aluminum practice for the upcomming intercooler welding work
Went pretty well

and then I just piddled around making the other part of the exhaust and making the exhaust tip.
muffler outlet is 2.5" ID (2.5" slip), but I wanted a 3" outlet (I thought, and wanted it to look just like a straight cut section of pipe.)
So to do this I took a small section of 2.5" tubing and expanded part of it so that it transitioned to the ID of a 3" piece of tubing.

Essentially I got the expansion close, expanded the 2.5" to snug up to the inside of the 3", welded the 2.5" piece into the magnaflow, , put the 3" around, and "press fit" them together and stitch welded the 3" to the magnaflow just to eliminate any rattling (and put a few stitches on the inside transition between the 2.5 and 3")
muffler loop + hangars

not quite final positioning, still working on the last bit of welding which will determine exactly where it sits

"is anybody out thereee!!!"
:/
anywho, to update the teaser pic, here is another few, which should make what it is for quite apparent (or I thought so....)
hole cut and aluminum V-band welded on

well that is a rather short flow path doncha think?

the idea (at least...) mock up with some 3d printed end plates.

eh, its just for fun, not to be competitive.
I know this will sound ironic (really) but competitive racing is when you really start burning some cash
that being said I am doing breaks and modest suspension stuff.
I like the suspension setup currently, but will be adding a diff.
(currently on Koni FSD, stock springs, IE fixed camber plates, alta rear sway bar, and alta PSRS)
not an aggressive setup, but significantly better than stock while soaking up expansion joints in concrete roads extremely well (barely hear or feel them)

let me know if people cannot see this. (hotlinking image from instagram instead of uploading to imgur.. call me lazy)
Slow day today, detailing the other mini, etc.
but I did manage to design and make a mount to hold the inlet tube and throttle body in place!

so I've got some down time with the build unfortunately. Plates for intercooler have an eta of the end of the month.. hopefully. (guy is cutting me a break on the car parts as he is interested, but has to do it on the weekends etc. I will have a much better surface finish than if I was doing it myself)
but in the mean time I drew up and am debating making a new badge for the rear of the car (seeing as the "Cooper S" logo is gone) in an effort to troll a few off the bimmians that get butt hurt over us putting "BMW" logos on our cars (such as the bmw mini roundell)
Thoughts?
yay/nay on the design ?

(also debating without the CF inlays and just polished aluminum + clear coat)

well right now I am working on the "not so fun stuff" (re-routing and figuring out the power steering resevoir location, coolant system stuff, batery terminal re-location)
and twiddling my thumbs.
I really need to get my header and downpipe out the door to swaintech

This is my plan for when my pump dies. I'm already looking for a lotus manual rack...
