When you hit the pedal, is the first reading you get 15?

OK, I can feel the difference now. I did some more driving around, there is a big difference between the sport and normal modes. In S5 the car feels feels fine, then when you click it over to normal its like the throttle goes numb. I'm really starting to like this thing, except from a stop. I still have to press the pedal down a ways before the car reacts.

you might need to increase your level in sport mode. or try to setup your throttle again it might get it. "checked mine too there's like a dead spot oon the throttle but not that huge."

Scoopy Whats your L & H numbers you get when you calibrate? I get L 0.5 and H1.5. Just curious.

I completed the installation on my 2006 MCSa this evening. Once I figured out how to get the gas pedal off it was pretty simple and straightforward!!

In case anyone wants to know, my L is 0.0 and my H is 2.0.

I tried it in SP5, SP6 and SP7 - SP6 is what I've settled on, as it seems to remove most if not all of the initial 'kick-in' response lag from a standing start and also seems to be the setting where it is most similarly responsive to my old 2005 MCS manual (with a 15% Alta pulley) when on the move.

I ordered mine from ebay, straight from Hong Kong. I was expecting a long wait, it showed up 3-4 days later.

Hi Fellas,
Received my D1 Spec today. Tried to install it. I see some of you have. How the hell do you get the gas pedal off?
I pressed up on the little tab on the electronic part of the pedal, and slid it as far to the left as the steering column would allow, but that still does not give me enough room to unclip connector that goes to the pedal (to install the interface wire).

Any tricks here?
Thanks in advance.

Slide it enough to the left to actually get it off its runner - at that point the top of it (the most forward point) will actually be touching the steering column, and you'll think you're putting the throttle pedal under pressure . . which you kind of are. When you get it off its runner there's plenty of space (and leeway in the cable) to remove the harness from the unit

OK, so slide it to the left as far as it will go, then pull it up, or away from the floorboard, to totally remove the whole assembelly (pedal and controller box)?
I think I understand.
Dosen't help that there is all kinds of crud and mud all up in there.

Correct, all the way to the left until its fully off the runner (the pedal assembly will no longer be perpendicular to the floor at this point) and then off the runner and loose in your hand, with the only thing holding it to the car being the wires.

Got it installed today. Getting the gas pedal off was a little tricky, but got everything installed and working.

This may be the only thread in NAM where hardly anyone's sig gives details about their MINI.

Why is this important to me? I'm wondering if anyone with an '08 MINI Cooper non-s has installed this. I've e-mailed A&J Racing since their site only refers to one for the '09-'10 MINI Cooper S (R56). Any help appreciated since everyone here seems very happy with it. Except Way.

For anyone that has an automatic R53 or is interested in installing a D1 in an automatic R53, I have mine set to SP7 - this is the setting which makes the throttle perform most like the throttle in my Volvo S80, which is the car I used for reference purposes, and is the car that my wife drives, so that she doesn't notice too much of a difference when she swaps cars.

As a comparison to my previous manual R53, SP5 was probably the setting most like it's pick-up

Problem. Just installed on of these that i got from a nam member. The install and set up was very simple. But it has a problem. The first time in turned on the engine to test it out i pressed the pedal and nothing. The display showed it increase in the pedal but no gas. So i turned off the engine and started it back up again. I pressed the pedal a little and it kept revving more and more by itself even when i let off on the gas. I had to turn the key to off to stop it. What is going on????!!!!

I had that issue once when I first got it. resolved the issue by unplugging it, putting everything back normal and starting over.

Hope that helps.

Why, because a Sprint Booster couldn't do that as well? Not to be argumentative, but I have seen many of these installed and never seen that happen. Makes me wonder if it was installed correctly and if some pins weren't bent. The guy never posted back so we don't know what the problem was. Could also happen if he started the car without actually setting it up properly.

But the sprint booster is TUV certified meaning that they would not have certified it if that kind of behavior was possible. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with the D1 simply because it is not certified but for me it is a comfort thing for me. I like to know something that is connected by my car's throttle has been tested every which way possible and found to be absolutely safe under every circumstance. Again not to say that the D1 is not just as safe but where are the tests to back it up?
