Drivetrain D1 Spec Throttle Boost REVIEW!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!
best, easiest mod ever
I have a R53 convertible, auto -
The D1 is fantastic! I bought the ODBII splitter from Amazon:
since I have the Scanguage "E". As others have said, the hardest part is removing the gas pedal. There is a tab that you have to press DOWN on, (I was lifting up), side it over and pull up on it. It goes back much easier.
No tools required. How easy is that?
My MINI is not an "S", and there have always been a "lag" when starting off from a stop. On S7, this just about gets rid of it, and acceleration response is great.

Any more reviews on these? Really thinking about getting one. What about Ways post on some of the safety features you would bypass with the D1 setup? Anyone had any of those problems?? Having the throttle go nuts is not something I would like to deal with.
I've had it on for several months now. Absolutely no issues, no throttle hanging up, nothing. Just great throttle response. I almost expected to see little glitchy things - maybe with the display or with the settings changing, etc. But it has done none of those things.

Im still only using setting 3 for around town driving , its more than enough .

I have a 2013 S and just received my D1. I can see the wire running down under the carpet and back out. I can reach over the pedal and tough the wire. I can feel the connector and can squeeze the tab furthest from the pedal. No matter how hard I try I just can't get the right angle to get at the tab closest to the pedal. What scares me more is I won't be able to see the connector for the installation which could result in a bent pin.
It appears the pedal is slightly different and doesn't have a tab to release it. Can anyone offer any advice as to how to remove the connector from the pedal or the pedal itself?

I believe it's much easier with the pedal off. If memory serves me, the pedal will push over to the left if you push it over at the top and then it slides up and off. It's possible with my memory that it's the bottom that pushes over so try that if the top doesn't work.
I'm with you!!!. Its a must have sp5 seems to be my sweet spot tho
If anybody is looking for one of these I've just taken mine off (getting a tune next week).
It was on my car for 6 months - I never permanently fixed it in place so everything is perfect.
Asking $100 including shipping (and I can get it in the mail on Tuesday) - just PM me if you want it

Still can't get my 2013 peddle off. Any suggestions as to how you got your 2012 peddle to move?
Without knowing anything other than the year of your MINI I can't give an accurate answer. On my MINI, identified in my signature, you only need to take the little tab off the base of the pedal, unscrew the hex nut and carefully slide the pedal up to disengage it. Frank

I have been in contact with a&j since December. When I contacted them in December they said they would have them mid january so I waited until Jan 21 when I contacted them again asking if they had them in stock yet, and the reply to that was we are looking at the end of February before we get them.

Just ordered mine on eBay from zenaracingaus, I offered $109 and they accepted. With shipping charges to Vancouver bc it was $129 for standard shipping but I contacted Mabel from zenaracingaus and asked if I could get express shipping instead of standard with the current price and he said Alright! He is a great guy to deal with and he shipped it the same day! Highly recommend buying from him guys.
Will let you know how this thing performs once its installed!

I installed mine this morning, on my '02 S. I bought it off ebay, paid in Australian dollars and shipped from Hong Kong. Since I'd been reading this entire thread over the course of a few days, I wasn't surprised when it showed up after only five days. From my reading, I knew how to get the pedal off, when to be extra careful to not bend any "pins" (on the controller, they're more like wires than pins), and the install went almost without a hitch.
The toughest part was disconnecting the plug from the pedal, and replacing it with the controller plug. It took me a half-hour to get the pedal off and the plug pulled, then another half-hour to hook everything up and trouble-shoot an "err" reading on the initial set-up. Sure enough, I'd bent one of the six "pins", and so after being even more careful to get the plug connected and the pedal reinstalled, I was on the road in about ten minutes.
I've owned manual tranny cars all my life, but have never been able to drive the MINI very smoothly. With the controller set on SP3, I have the sense that the throttle is now perfectly proportional to my demands, and the car is much more driveable.
Thanks to all who contrbuted tips to this thread, it was a big help.
