D1 Spec Throttle Boost REVIEW!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!

Well, before I purchased this device there really wasn't much news about it. But I thought I would pull the trigger and try it out anyways. I got it from here:
http://www.aj-racing.com/shop/bmy_se...and=Mini&type=

Basically I would say, this was an AMAZING MOD. I paid about 120 overall with shipping and it was completely 100% worth it. There is a guy there named Jason Tam and he was EXTREMELY helpful when he was helping me trouble shoot the issue. My first D1 Spec that I received from him was actually a bad one, but he issued me a complete return label and ordered me a brand new one from the supplier. After I received that, I plugged it in and BAM! You could instantly feel the power! I purchased the D1 with 7 sport settings, 5 eco settings and 1 normal setting. But the one I received had NINE sport settings!!!! So I obviously tried the ninth setting first lol.

Granted the device does not add any HP or TQ whatsoever, it does exactly what it is suppose to, making the throttle opening more sensitive and in turn opening up the throttle more from idle. I believe the stock MINI throttle body is electronic and doesn't allow full throttle opening at low speeds. But this fixes that issue. Stepping on the gas each time really makes you "feel" like the bottom end power is right there. So if you feel like your MINI lags a little bit from idle and such or even after shifting gears, this is the device for you!!! It is extremely cheap and it does really give that feeling of power!!!!!!!

BTW, if you use a Scangauge II or some other device that plugs into the OBDII port you can get this from amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/OBDII-Splitter.../dp/B000TMCX72

and they work perfectly together !!!!

So roughly if you had to get it it would be an overall of 150 spent maybe. AND IT IS WORTH IT!!! Any other questions please address them here and I would love to finally provide some insight for this device!!!!!!

Sounds like a good alternative to the sprint booster, and at less than half the price!

Good to know; lack of SGII compatibility was the major sticking point for me.

Did you have to modify the connection @ the throttle at all -- I seem to recall one post or another on here suggesting that was at least once the case -- or is the D1 100% plug-and-play?

100% PnP!!!

Those issues did exist before, but they have fixed it now!! Mine was plug and play completely!!! Just make sure you plug the throttle cable from the D1 to the cord in the car the correct way. If you accidentally plug in the D1 to the throttle cord in the car, the D1 won't turn on.

Next question

I see the AJ Racing site lists the D1 only for the R50/R52/R56; I presume the R50 version is what you're using for the R53?

Since this is all a few months old, I was wondering how things were going with it? are you still happy with it, do you have any other feedback on it? Do you have any pics of where you found to install it?

i cut the OBDii plug and spliced the wires into the ODBii port and hide the module behind the dash & feed the controller screen from the back of my tack to the control module.

nope i pulled the OBDii port down and spliced the wires into the corresponding wire from the back of the OBDii port using the plug just to verify that i was doing it to the right wire

Okay, you've officially captured my interest.

For those who've never experienced what this product can do, please try to explain further:

1.) Is the throttle response truly, noticeably quickened? (Really)?

2.) does it make it easier to lose traction when leaving a stoplight "aggressively" in 1st gear? (which in my opinion, is a negative; front-wheel burnouts are not cool. Ever.)

3.) List any other details that we might find beneficial to know...

THANKS!

1)very noticeable throttle responce that can be set to how ever you want it. either lightning quick or turtle slow. you can do it all. this does all the same things the sprint booster does @ 1/2 the price
2)you can tune it how ever you want to drive that the great thing about the Throttle booster.
