Drivetrain RMW's "Guess what's in the box?"
Paul I understand what you are saying as the tires can't compare equally but don't you think all the suspension work, quaife, wilwood brakes, and increased horsepower (and maybe torque) that was done on the Madness car could overcome a few R comp tires??? I dont see how just running some hoosier's makes the comparison unfair and in Jan's favor????
btw... you forgot the PROFESSIONAL DRIVER

I have a TOTAL OF 5 TRACK DAYS......5......................

Paul's already making excuses......it's what he does
sounds like someone is worried to me

I would be
They have a tyre class over here and the same Mini Challange car on the same course on the same day is 3-4 secs slower.
Slicks on the Madness car might make 8 secs difference for all we know due to the hit of torque you get in comparison to Jans stroker / supercharger.
Jan might still run faster than they did on the Falken's.
Thats an intresting thought, does it takle more skill to get around a track with a lot of power and krap tyres or slicks and moderate power.

well.... our professional driver on street tires went 1:27 on pump gas
with RMW head/tune/440cc/stock diff/H&R coilovers
With Hoosiers he went 1:26..........so what's really your point?
just shutup until you have your turbo car beat it... I don't care what tires you want to run..... just shutup and do it
you saying I'm a great driver?

btw..... all of those times were done on STOCK JCW brakes
what car out there has even come close to that?
Let me answer that for you..........NONE.................. NADA.........Zip........

Nope. While you may be, I'm saying that no matter how good/fast you (Paul, me or anyone) is/are there is someone with more skill that could take the same mechanicals on the same day in the same location and be faster.
While mechanicals are important, driver skill is critical. Just my .02
Pass the popcorn please.

Yea - watching newbs49 stick with and pass many cars that are a Mini's superior makes me respect him as a driver before the car as a machine.
That's just me. I see the other way, too. Shall we just agree that when you're trying to SELL PERFORMANCE PARTS it makes sense to have the philosophy that the CAR makes all the difference? It's just good business, and you can't really argue that point.
So, is what's in the box going to make me a better driver on the track? NO! Am I still interested in the new supercharger? Why wouldn't I be?

*that's my first popcorn icon _ever_ I think.

Thanks MB.
I'd like a few of Jan's parts for my car like the head, TVS, and a few others. They'd sure make the car faster down the straight, but getting it down on the ground in and out of the turns is all about the driver. More power next year will be great, but the driver learning about the power and it's use starts over. Quick learn I hope.
Paul - please find the track tire that will take 6 to 8 secs of at SOW with your pro driver over the tires he ran.
I'll sell the SH%t out of them if you can find them.
Please hurry!!!!!! I need $$$$$$ for RMW parts.

Tires, at most, are worth ~2 seconds, period... That's comparing a 2nd tier r-comp (R888 or NT-01) to a "premium" r-comp (HooHoo R6 or V710), or street tire (R-S2 or RE-01R) to a 2nd tier r-comp (and that's over a longer course of 2ish miles, less and the advantage is less). You might get 3-4 seconds comparing a top-tier street tire versus a top-tier r-comp (and that's really only applicable on a circuit of 2+ miles, else it's 1-1.5 seconds max). If you compare a top-tier r-comp versus a crappy street tire,(e.g. crappy summer tire like an ES100), drivers being equal and the same car, you MIGHT see a 6-8 second difference (but that's like comparing apples to oranges).

Sorry Guys , turns out that they were on these tyres at SOW;
http://www.falkentyres.co.uk/fk452.asp
1.26.234 from the Stasis Engineering FWD Audi TT 287whp 299.61ft lb
1.26.258 from the 034 Motorsports AWD Audi S4 645whp 522.73 ft lb
Looks like you should enter next year Jan

that was exactly my point
So is there a certain time at SOW that you cant go past?
Obviously a 1.26 on the Falkens seems the limit no matter even if you've got double the horsepower or is the driver in the TT better driver than the S4
Where would you rate a Falken FX452?

I think It all comes down to driver and suspension setup... Exiting speed on larger straightaways is big, as well as deeper braking into a curve, being able to maintain speed when doing a line... entrance speed isnt as important as exiting speed, Im kina a noob still so forgive me if i am missing something... Ive only been in the mod game for 2 &1/2 years...
Paul???
WTF is your point with your constant BS.
If you have something to say about Jan or his products just say it already and move the F on.
Seriously!

It is easier to make a faster track car with suspension rather than power... just ask the spec miata drivers...
I'm discussing times at SOW, euro tuner annual event looks like a good one and something to comapre to regarding Jan's acheivements.I think it would be wicked for Jan to enter the TVS for next year and show them all how a Mini performs.
But as shown above having massive horsepower at SOW on those tyres doesn't seem to help.
Does anyone know if there allowed to test before the meeting to set up te cars or is it a case of RWYB.

You wont be going out the house today then
