I totally agree, there are 1/4mi threads and I even have a SOW thread with times posted. Why not post there?

I'm working on the final kit version of the W2a intercooler

it's in 3-D cad now and working the details

The original W2a was a simple design just to see if the TVS was too big for the 2.0L. Now that we know it works like a champ we will design one that works as good as possible.

This W2A IC version is just for the 2.0l and TVS and not for the 1.6l and the eaton S/C isn't it? Oh and I'm sure everyone is with me when I say, I hope you had an excellent holiday period and a relaxing time so you can bring us all new goodies for the new year. Keep up this fantastic, ground breaking work you are doing!!!

The new Audi S4 has gone to a TVS V6

from an N/A V8. Audi has used turbos since the supercharged Auto Union racers of the 30s... But they looked at the TVS vs turbos and in 6 of seven categories, the TVS was the winner. Sad to say, the article in AutoWeek didn't list the categories. Reviews of the car say that its got more torque over a wider powerband than the 4.2 V8 (I drove the N/A motor and the BMW V8 back to back and actually liked the Audi engine better) but with a very slight loss of peak HP. The reviewers said that in Audi form, the SC isn't audible, and that the V8 had a slightly sweeter engine note...That said, the 3L blown 6 gets 27% greater fuel efficiency with more area under the curve than the N/A V8. Audi also did internal comparisons to the 2.7 twin turbo they used to use, and the new BMW 3L twin turbo in the x35 cars, and found the TVS blown engine to be better....

Looks like you've got a tiger by the tail here Jan....

Matt

THanks Matt
Eaton told me they did one for a major and now the cat is out of the bag
While in their booth talking with Arnie Denai the head guy from Subaru was in getting info on the TVS

Looks like the Vette and Caddy have opened up the eyes of the automotive world

Our tests confirms it

I got to drive the R8, the S5, the RS4 cabrio and the M3 4 door. The R8 was the best car of the all, the S5 was fun but I didn't like the ergonomics, and the RS4 had more cowel shake than my 65 ragtop before the frame brace went in! I didn't say what car was better, but what engine I liked better. And the Audi 4.2 N/A is one of the sweetest engines I've every driven. And yes, I think it's sweeter than the v8 in the M3. The BMW mill is underwhelming till you really get it to spin, when it really is fun. But at that point, you can watch the gas gauge drop in real time.

As the 3L twin turbo from BMW show, and the new TVS 3L from audi as well, you can get big displacement performance from a smaller package, and get the fuel efficiency benefits from a smaller engine without sacraficing grunt, all by going to a boosted architecture.

What sucks about the TVS is that for now, it's only available to those that engineer an intake packaging for it so it's really only going through the OEMs or the few that are willing to make or modify existing cases to take the new rotors. For the gen4/gen5 eaton, you could get "aftermarket" units from Eaton if you had the moxy to fit it to your car. This means that it will be a while before there are generic TVS blowers for the aftermarket, and is why the planned TVS900 isn't out yet... No OEM has selected it for a factory package.... Really Eaton is teasing us all on this one...

Matt
