Didn't see a direct reply to the earlier HP limitation questions.
Bear in mind that just like the Eaton there are different capacity Rotrex SCs as well.
If for whatever reason you should have a car deemed capable of outbreathing the current model in use adding a larger capacity unit wouldn't be anywhere near the challenge of the original design work.

I assume, but really have no factual idea, that the current unit would be a C30 rated to 400 HP.
Plenty for us "normal" people.

Perhaps the unit is a C30-84 or C30-94?

I am amazed at how compact Rotrex units are.

A unit weight of 11 lbs is surely lighter than an Eaton?

This is great stuff!

Thanks Jan and Longboard for this groundbreaking effort.

We used it anyway for now to see the differences on fuel economy as we go through testing of the product. Most cars that have throttle bodies on the intake manifold need a BPV or blow off valve since the throttle body is PAST the supercharger. We will be testing many variations of the system until we are satisfied with the final kit.

Thank you everyone for the kind words!

We believe there is much promise here as the temps that we measured under the hood after driving the car were extremely low compared to the Eaton.

These temps were measured with a thermal device after driving the car hard.

Supercharger temp outlet: 130 degrees F
top of DFIC: 125
outlet plenum from DFIC to intake: 97

after shutting car down for 10min
supercharger outlet 109
DFIC 96
Outlet 92

If the numbers of this kit continue to impress I will be making these aluminum pieces out of something that doesn't hold heat like the stock units.

Overall I am seeing a big drop in temps and with a few more trick ideas I think we can lower them quite a bit more.

More data to come as we continue testing.

Great numbers Jan. Like I said on the phone the 130 degrees sounds impressive. If you can lower those number even more it will be revolutionary.

I love Jan's no-bull approach to MINI tuning...he gets on and does stuff others can only dream of . Keep up the good work.

Also, welcome back to the boards, it's been a long time coming

Cheers,

H

Thanks Henry,

The stroker motor continues to impress and I can't wait to get a supercharger on it next. I have put the ball in motion for a cam on the supercharged version. It's tough juggling 4 projects at once but they are all moving along nicely. Based on the info in front of me it looks to be fun times ahead.

Good news

You'll have to start a new thread soon on the stroker motor...it's gonna cause quite a stir around here

My car is still on the mend but I should be motoring in July...can't wait! Two years off the road has been two years too many...

Cheers,

H

Here is some video on the first start up. I plan on having more later tonight and will try and get it up as fast as possible. Thanks for being patient as we are getting gauges/sensors installed so we can gather all of the data.

Ka boooom

Just kidding,

I installed the innovative A/F gauge from RMW today. Now that I can see what is going on I went out for a little hammer time. Tommarow the car goes on the dyno

Here is whats on the car now.
Stock intercooler
Stock ECU
RMW Head
RMW Header
RMW Exhaust
RMW Rotrex SC kit
Alta Intake
Thats it.

The car runs great. amazing considering the stock ECU. It needs a tune but the power is there for sure. We are running 18lbs of boost. From 10lbs to 18lbs the car pulls really really hard . I drove the car hard for 15 minutes and the intake side of the intercooler was cool.

All signs say it's a go. Allot more testing and tweaking but the car pulls very hard now. I wish I could say more about todays drive but I already have two strikes against me on NAM.

Thanks to everyone for all the support and kind words. This project is still in it's infancy but it has allot of potential.

Longboard

18lbs with Jesus on board is good, good luck with the dyno today look forward to hearing the results.

My guess would be 277whp

Great stuff. Wish you guys all the luck in the world getting it sorted out. Maybe we'll get to see it at C & C next week?

I want to get a piggy back on the car so we can tune it before it goes on the dyno but the car is very driveable considering the timing maps required down low for this type of s/c are so different from an eaton. I think it has potential but only time will tell.

Looks (and sounds) good

Any reason why you switched back to the standard IC in the 2nd video?
