I feel like a lab rat . I will post more pics soon. The parts are soooo nice. As with other RMW items. No expense has been spared.

When I was contemplating purchasing a MINI, I was alarmed that the OEM SC has a rated life of only 100K miles. Now 100K seems like way too long to wait to justify replacing it with the goodies out there from RMW.

If I wasn't 1,462 miles from the shop (according to Google Maps) you know I'd be happy to allow my Mini to be used for testing. We are still trying to figure out if I'll get a box on a truck for my Tech to install or if I'll make the trek to Van Nuys for the install. I know if I come out there it will break my tech's heart. He's been dying to do this install.

If I come out there ya'll got to take me to Pinks and for some canyon drives.

Thanks! It'd be nicer with few mods from RMW.

I appreciate your volunteering to be the lab rat and providing developmental and testing updates to the rest of us wanna-be guinea pigs.

Have some cheese; you'll be fine.

So, is this a centrifugal blower, like a Paxton?

Lets just say it combines the throttle response of a Roots supercharger with the compressor efficiency of a turbo, but without the lag.

Sounds like a belt-driven centrifugal. Sweet!! Can't wait to hear the results from THIS!!

Hmmmm....sounds like a Rotrex to me - look here -

Which one of these are you using?

Interesting. Not quite a centrifugal. That's a pretty wild piece.

What tires are you running, Longboard?

I wonder how wide your tires need to be to get 300whp down on the tarmac..... and then how much strain will the drivetrain take....

The Rotrex is belt driven, just like our M-45. But looking at his pic, it sure looks more like a turbo off the exhaust side of the engine. Hmmmm...I will have to talk to Jan.

It is belt driven and it is in the centrifugal category of superchargers.

They're very nice and not inexpensive

Those of us running larger ICs will be in the overkill arena since this is a very thermally efficient system.

Edit: Speaking of which <cough> Laminova</cough>

Why not just fit a Whipple Twin Screw? Just about the same amount of surgery, but much more efficient and effective.

I think the same. I talked to Randy about it but he said in order to do it correctly and w/o a tune it would be around 12k We didn't go into much detail.

12k seems a little(a lot) high. I priced the W140AX and it was less than 2 grand. I guess if you're not able to make the parts yourself to make it work, then the bill would be fairly high.
The guy at Whipple I spoke to said we would only need to push about 3-4 psi out of the Whipple to make the same power as the Eaton.
If I had an extra 2 grand, it would already be on my car.

But you still need a noseshaft/pulley - mounts, runners, water pump, controller, etc. then a tune. Talk to Peter I know him and Randy got into it a while ago but abandoned the project due to high cost.

I agree though a twin scew would be nice!

You're right about the nose and pulley, I can't remember what I was quoted for those. The mounts and runners I can make myself, I already have some stuff for an electric water pump swap. Controller? The tune would definitely cost a few bucks, but definitely worth it.

I know that RMW made the Jesus head, but who are they and do they have a website so I can check out their stuff?

Thanks.

Also can't wait to hear and see the progress of the X-300.
